    we have no microwave at our cabin, so I bought this stove top model. It worked on my invection stove as it has a flat bottom. I didn't measure the oil, just coated the bottom, added a half cup of popcorn and like the instructions said, I had PERFECT popcorn in about 5 minutes. It works like a charm!!!

    I had been looking for a replacement for my aluminum stovetop popcorn popper, which was similar in design, but was a real pain to clean. Every time I used the aluminum popper, a sticky, oily film took major elbow grease to clean, and we could not just wipe it clean either. In contrast, this stainless popper is just about perfect: it makes great popcorn, is easy to clean, and I feel that it will last for years. The gears on the top look and feel sturdy, the clips on the sides fit correctly, and the price was the best I could find anywhere for this type of popper. I only wonder why I did not get this sooner!

    I am a popcorn lover from way back. When I saw this one and read the the description, I knew I had to purchase it! When I received it, was impressed. It has good weight and it looks great!     The best feature of this popper is that it can be used on induction cookware. My old Detonator popper served me well for many years but this is such and improvement now that I cook on induction. The stainless steel is so much easier to clean than the old aluminum one I have. Same great popping quality with virtually no "old maids". The spring on the lid is a bit stiff making it hard to get on and off but I am sure this will loosen up. So glad I found this popper.

    • I wanted a stainless steel popper at least 6 quart capacity and useable on the stove. Oh, and at a reasonable price.

    • We love to make popcorn but still like the idea of something sort of ;old-fashioned". Everyone we talk to that has this kind really like it. We could have gotten one from Amazon for about $20.00 but it wasn't stainless. This one should last and last!

  • Does the paddle touch the bottom of the pan? the cheaper aluminum poppers have one little wire that is supposed to stir the popcorn, but it doesn't do much, most of the time not even touching the corn. So is the stirring "paddle" more than a piece of wire that dangles near the bottom of the pot? Why can't you show a picture of this "paddle" part?

    • that is a good question, why don't they show a picture of the inside of the popper to see the paddle. This does not a wire, it has a paddle, but I can not answer your question, because my popper is defective and being returned for a replacement. The gears didn't connect together all the way, so it didn't stir much...was very frustrated. I only used it one time! now waiting for the replacement-hope it is better!

    • Hello lookinforquality2, we can confirm there is a paddle inside, however we do not currently have an image of the paddle. If and when the image becomes available we will add it. Thank you for shopping with us.

    • It does have a paddle that does not quite touch the bottom of the pan, but is close enough to stir the popcorn. There is just enough space between the paddle and the bottom so the paddle does not scratch the bottom as it rotates. I agree that an image would be great.

    • It has a blade-style stirrer, about 1/2-inch wide. There is a small gap, perhaps 1/16- to 1/8-inch, between the stirrer and the bottom. It is large enough that small kernels sometimes get caught, but is no problem as they work or pop loose. It does a thorough job in stirring. I have had around 5 of this type popper and this is, by far, the best one.

    • I have had this for over a year and it has held up really well. The paddle reaches the bottom- but doesn't scrape the metal.

    • It has a strip of stainless steel that has a bend in it on each side that goes across the pan,it is attached to a 'pole' that is turned by the gear that you see on the top, and does not quite touch the bottom of the pan. It works well.

    • The paddle does sit just over the bottom. There is not enough room for a un-popped piece of popcorn to slip under the paddle. This works really good. I'm very happy with it. The paddle is in a slight z shape that goes out to the outer edges. It is not a wire, rather a blade. It does a great job at keeping all of the popcorn moving, as I've never had one burned piece.

    • I tried the 8 oz pkg and it was too much. The popcorn got stuck before I could pour it out of the pot. I would recommend the 4 oz. not sure about the 6 oz.

    • I have used 1/2 cup, and it fills the popper up.

    • Save your money and just use fresh popcorn in a bag. You don't need the microwave styled popcorn for this. Fresh popcorn (1/2 cup) and a small amount of cooking oil (1-3 Tablespoons) is all that you need! The flavor is incredible! I wanted to get away from the un-healthy microwave popcorn with all of the un-needed chemicals, so this is perfect for me. I love it!
