I was disappointed when I received these two magazine racks. The color on the website appears to be dark brown and matches the mahogony color in the description; however, the items received were actually black in color. Also, a side on one of the magazine racks was loose from the main section of the rack. I think that I can apply some glue to keep the one side from failing when magazines are placed in the rack. Overall, I didn't think that it was a good buy for the price. I have purchased many items from Overstock.com and I have to say that this the first purchase where I have been disappointed.Read More

Love the flat bottom versus curved preventing the magazines from sliding down and curling. Overall construction is OK and so far have not found any defects.Read More

The bottom of the first magazine rack I purchased was coming apart when I took it out of the box. I returned it for another one that was received in good condition. The design of this magazine rack is nice, but I expected a much more solid, sturdy piece given the price. It is a bit flimsy. Nice as an accent piece in the livingroom, though.Read More

The product came perfectly packed and when taken out of the box, completed the room in whjich it is. Thank you O:verstock.com!Read More
After first receiving a broken magazine rack (and thinking maybe I made a mistake in buying it), Overstock sent a replacement immediately and that one came in perfect condition. It was exactly what I was looking for and it looks very nice with the plant holder that I also got.Read More

Hello PDGPEG, this has a reddish brown color. Thanks for shopping with us!
Best Bookshelf Materials
It's not unusual for bookshelves to incorporate multiple materials for different features. If you haven't decided on wood, wood products, metal or glass bookshelves, look at their relative strengths and weaknesses. Look below to learn the best bookshelf materials. Wood: "Solid wood" is a common term for furniture made from lumber planks. Beware of making assumptions based on labels like "hardwood" and "softwood." Hardwoods are derived from deciduous trees and softwoods from coniferous trees; the terms don't connote their relative strengths. Balsa is a hardwood even though it is very soft, just as Douglas fir is a softwood even though it is very hard. They all make excellent, classic stock material for bookcases. Generally, harder woods are the heavier and more resistant to scratches. Still, softer woods, if treated correctly, will keep just as well as harder woods. Plywood: Made by stacking thin sheets -- "plies" -- of lumber and gluing them under pressure, plywood features grains that alternate direction for strength. Several grades are available, of differing cost. Top and bottom plies can be high-quality woods to create the appearance of fine woods, but edge veneer or molding is needed to complete the illusion. Particleboard: Wood chips glued together carry a much lower price tag than solid wood, and particleboard is denser and more uniform. It's a great choice when cost is the primary consideration. Bookshelves crafted from veneered composite boards can look and feel as good as real wood. MDF: Wood fibers, tiny chips and sawdust collected and glued into sheets form medium-density fiberboard (MDF). Low-cost MDF makes an excellent base for veneers; plus, its strength is consistent and it shapes well. Metal: There's a reason most library bookshelves are made from metal: Metal bookcases are resistant to moisture and fungus, their low-friction shelves are easier on books' bindings and metal's strength-to-weight ratio can't be beat. Their cost usually comes in below any other material. Glass: Glass bookshelves weigh more than other types, but if you plan on assembling your bookshelves only once, the style points can be well worth it. Tempered glass shelves (in wood or metal uprights, called "standards") give your home an unbeatable contemporary feel, and glass bookcases' smooth, transparent surfaces add brilliant levity to a decorating piece that might otherwise be notably opaque and heavy. Best Additional Features for Coffee Tables
Don't ask what you can do for your coffee table; ask what your coffee table can do for you. Coffee tables are nothing if not multi-tasking furniture pieces that can accomplish a lot with a little. Trunk storage, magazine racks, drawers, shelving, hidden seating or even built-in ottomans are all possibilities, but beware of the busily tricked-out coffee table that includes all of these features. The message bears repeating: Think about the form and function of your coffee table. How will its design impact how you use it? The modern coffee table comes with plenty of extras, so choose carefully.

How to Choose a Wood Lathe
Wood lathes are simple machines that allow you to make beautifully symmetrical woodwork. Wood lathes consist of an electric motor, two points, called the "headstock" and the "tailstock," and a chisel or gouge. As the motor turns the piece of wood secured between the headstock and the tailstock, the chisel carves. With a wood lathe in your collection of power tools, you'll be able to make a wide variety of items, including wooden pens, table legs, banisters and even wooden salad bowls. Although lathes are fairly simplistic tools, finding the right lathe for you can take some time and research.
Top 5 Gemstones to Accent a Diamond Ring
A diamond ring is classic, but that doesn't mean it has to be conventional. Many contemporary diamond rings incorporate colorful gemstones to create eye-catching patterns and flashy designs. Best Materials for Cabinets
After deciding on the purpose and room for your new cabinet, it's time to think about material. As with all furniture, you will want to select a cabinet material depending on what you plan to use your cabinet for, as well as your personal taste. Take a look below to learn about the best materials for cabinets. Wood: The majority of cabinets produced are created with hard wood. Wood cabinets can be found in both traditional and contemporary designs. If you are hoping for durability in addition to design, no cabinet looks better and lasts longer than one manufactured using a solid wood. Cherry cabinets offer a sense of classic luxury while holding up to years of use. Oak cabinets conjure up the feel of subtle country beauty, and maple cabinets can look bright, modern and chic. Metal: Metal cabinets are terrific for those looking for a modern touch in their homes; most metal cabinets have a very forward-looking aesthetic, so they are perfect for a contemporary home. Metal cabinets are also great for home offices. Obviously, metal offers great durability, but it is vulnerable to dings and dents. Keep in mind that most metal cabinets have sharp corners, making them slightly less suitable for homes with kids running around. Glass: If you have something you feel like showing off, nothing is better for display purposes than a glass cabinet. These cabinets are certainly more fragile than those made from other materials, but they offer something other cabinets can't: transparency. Many glass cabinets are manufactured with built-in lighting systems to exhibit whatever you choose to place in them. Because of their show-off quality, glass cabinets are perfect for places you expect guests, such as the dining room and living room. Particle board: If you are shopping for a cabinet on a tight budget, looking into particle board cabinets is worthwhile. Particle board is a relatively new material produced by pressing wood particles together, which is then bound with synthetic resin. Furniture created with particle board is almost always the least expensive option and also the lightest, but you will sacrifice some durability. If you plan to move often, a particle board cabinet could be an ideal option. View All Furniture Back to Guides Directory View All Furniture
