Are the ends that are bolted together finished? Could you leave the two pieces separated without looking funny or without seeing the bolts?

Answer This Question
The ends are finished, however there are two metal brackets that connect the two pieces. They can be removed with a screwdriver if you wish to use the two pieces separately.
