I've been looking for some time for a computer desk whose design I enjoy, AND that would work in my small apartment AND has the full length keyboard drawer. This fits the bill nicely. It arrived beautifully packed in two boxes. Looks nice and is substantial. Once you open the assembly instructions, which are well written and clearly diagramed, you see that the recommendation is that two adults assemble this and that you need a mallet. I managed without the mallet (used a cork coaster under my hammer) but the assembly for me would definitely been faster and easier with a second person. I am older, but even with the substantial weight of the pieces and arthritis in my hands, I was able to assemble on my own with some patience and lots of breaks. All parts are numbered with stickers that stay on until you're done. One tip: the finish is a nice dark varnish, that at the very end, when you're aligning the last pieces of the top shelf into the entire frame, can get easily scratched around the cam bolts. Place some tape around the cam holes at that point, and remove after you've tightened the bolts, to keep from scratching. Wish I'd thought of that before! It only was a problem right at the end. It is a pleasure to run my hand over the surface. It's nice and satiny. Minor irritation and only reason I'm downgrading to a 4 instead of a 5 (I would have rated 4 1/2 if that was an option) is that the pullout key drawer has some rattle and movement up and down. I'm very happy. It's a nice contemporary desk, I enjoy the way it looks, its medium sized (not too small, not too big) for an apartment and substantially and well built--and while there were less expensive desks out there, none were as well built or packed.

I am currently re-decorating my living room and wanted a computer desk to replace an old table I had been using. As soon as I saw the Compass desk, I knew that was the one I wanted. The sleek design really attracted me and the fact it didn't look like a "traditional" desk. I kept looking and looking to see if I could find something similar for less money but had no luck, so I decided to bite the bullet and purchase the desk. Delivery did not take long and everything came intact. The instructions said it would take two people to assemble, but I was able to do the majority of it by myself. The instructions were pretty straighforward and I liked that everything was labeled. The only thing that really gave me trouble was the keyboard tray. It took quite a few attempts, and I began to get worried after reading other people had trouble installing it too. I found that walking away for a while then coming back to it helped. I also looked at how the rollers worked on my kitchen drawers and was FINALLY able to figure it out!!! I am extremely happy with my purchase and it looks just like the picture. The quality and color of the wood is beautiful and it is HEAVY (which is a good thing!!) Several of my friends have commented on how beautiful and "rich" it looks so it was definitely woth the money, although the week after I bought it, it finally went down! Fortunately though, Overstock did give me a credit for the difference in price, so I really can't complain. I am definitely a fan of Overstock and will definitely use them again!

I purchased this desk to downsize from an executive desk. It was easy to assemble and is very well made. It's a great size for a smaller room and the color is very attractive. Good design and wouldn't hesitate to purchase another produce in this line.

I've had this desk for 4 years, it's survived 3 moves....and these types of assembled items don't usually survive moves unless you can take them apart and reassemble, and you're lucky. This one was disassembled once and the other 2 times they moved it intact. It's very sturdy, expensive looking, the finish is very resistant to scratching, etc. The desk still looks brand new. I'll probably cry when I have to get rid of it, I'm very attached. I hope it comes back in stock.

This desk is everything and more! It is much better than what you see in office stores and cheaper. It took my husband and I about two hours to put it together. Take your time on the keyboard and THINK about how it goes. It is the trickest part to put together. We had to do it twice and it is solid--slides easily. I recommend this to anyone looking for a nice solid computer desk. It is beautiful!

I like it, but I did not do a good job of putting it together. It was hard to screw everything in and I didn't ask my partner to help so it is wobbly.

The desk looks great in my computer/guest room. I love the style and dark wood. My only complaints is they sent just enough lock type screws to do the job and one broke so my desk is missing one which I hope will not make it fall apart. Also the wood seems to scratch easily even though we were super careful while assembling it.

We were looking for a computer desk that was compact and modern. This was great because it found a way to have everything off the floor like the printer monotor etc. It has held up well with my teens it's a great look but if you do not put things together much be ready this was a chalange. I would recomend this item to anyone looking for a space saver. We love the look and great quality.

My husband and I were looking for a desk that would be both functional and compact enough to fit in our one-bedroom apartment. This desk is perfect. The multi-shelf design allows for maximum space while remaining a compact size. As pictured, the lower shelf is perfect for storing a print. Plenty of room to scoot your computer chair underneath and still have leg-room. Only negative is lack of drawers, but we have compensated by placing small plastic storage baskets in what is designed to be the laptop tray. Main workspace is good size - perfect for a student who needs space to spread out books and notes. Directions are easy to follow and very clear. Parts are well labeled and constructed. Color is as shown and matches with other espresso-colored furniture. More heavy duty than expected from a put-together-yourself desk. Perfect for small spaces. Style great for contemporary styled office space and would highly recommend if looking for something to go in a bedroom or living room.

This kit has a lot of parts but it was very easy to assemble. The instructions were very good and the thing fits together perfectly. All the holes lined up and all the screws went in snug. When you are finished you have a very sturdy good looking desk. The build quality is very similar to that famous swiss brand if not better.

I searched for months for a desk that was comparable to this one and never found anything. It was a little more than I planned on spending for a desk, but after putting it together I understood the pricing. I was unable to assemble this desk, so I had my handyman come over. It took him a couple of hours to get this desk assembled. Assembly aside, this is a nice looking, sturdy desk and I am glad that I ordered it.

We read other people's review pretty carefully before we picked the desk. We were ready for complicated assembly. There were many parts but each part and bags of screws were alphabetized and matched with the instruction, so that made it pretty coherent to assemble. The manufacturer provided extra screws in the bags so if you have some left after built, don't freak out (I did at first). The material is quite solid and we put so many screws (as instructed) that we are pretty sure this desk is solid. Definitely need 2 people to assemble this.

I needed a small desk for my office area and this desk fits perfectly. I had someone put it together for me and it took them about 2 hours; they didn't seem to have any problems with following the directions. Actually, the person who put it together said, " Iam going to purchase one of these desk for myself." A great piece of furniture!

My husband and I love this modern desk! It took him a couple hours to put this desk together, while watching our 2 year old twins. It has plenty of room for his computer, printer & my laptop. Plus the stylish shelves for stuff. Doesn't take up alot of space. Matches perfect with our ladder shelf we already had.

I just started a new job where I work from home, so I needed to put together a home office set-up. I didn't want to spend too much money on a desk, but I wanted a sturdy, beautiful, and practical desk for the job. This one seems to be working out perfectly! It took a few hours to put together (would have taken more, but I had a handy guy's help) so it's definitely a little time consuming to get to the end result. Kick note of construction.. do not separate the pairs of tracks for the slide tray. I accidentally did, and we could not get the tray to sit in correctly until we figured out that the pairs were mismatched. Overall, I am loving this desk for what I use it for. Perfect for my laptop, printer, and miscelaneous items!
