This pad is too soft and makes rolling over very difficult. I understood that a 5lb densisty would be a firmer feel, but this pad doesn't have that.

I absolutely love this topper! I've had it for over a year and it has made my bed the coziest place ever! I am a side-sleeper, and all my shoulder aches and pains are gone! I have an old mattress that I was wanting to replace (and probably still should), but thought I'd try this topper, and am so glad that I did because it is great. The foam density on this one (I think it's 4-5 pounds) is really high - I bought a less-dense one for my son (different manufacturer) - I was being cheap - and there is a noticeable difference in comfort and quality, so if you're buying a topper, go for one with at least this density. I have also had no issues with it being hot, which I have heard people complain about with some toppers - this one is fine (and I would hear it from my husband if it weren't!). The ONLY issue with it, and I think this happens to all foam toppers, is that after sleeping on it for a year, it now has impressions where my husband and I lie, and a big hump in the middle, even though I flip it around sideways and upsidedown every time I change the sheets. However, I still love it and wouldn't live without it. I also bought the cover for it on Overstock, which was cheap and I think you really need that.

This pad had a decent density rating which is important... but it feels too mushy compared to real memory foam. Even the one I got from *** felt more like memory foam. If you are expecting this to feel like tempurpedic memory foam, you may be disappointed. However, they do a nice job of cutting it to size as it is a perfect fit. Also I have only had it about 6 months and I am starting to experience some back pain lately. Wearing out already....? Not sure. Will try the Serta pad next time.

First time user of Overstock.com. Great site; fabulous shipping service. Foam topper is a DREAM to sleep on. However, we purchased to lay on top of regular mattress gone bad. Although the foam does improve the bad underlying mattress, it is not going to be a final solution for us. We will have to buy a new mattress but will be VERY happy to add the foam topper. No problems with odor nor do we have trouble turning, etc. We are in our 50s. The only thing sort of negative is that we are SO reluctant to get out of bed because it is so darn comfortable!

The foam panels are not cut to the correct sizing. I strongly recommend buying an oversized panel for your purposes (they're all the same price anyway) and then cutting it down. This is an extra hassle, but easy if you use an electric kitchen knife ($15, and you're saving about $200 compared to buying this elsewhere). Keep in mind that not every "larger" size is strictly larger in both length and width - check bed sizes on Wikipedia if you need to. Cal King should cut down to Queen easily. Incorrect sizing is sort of a common issue for similar products anyway...if you can deal with needing to resize it yourself, this is a great price for a thick slab of very good quality foam. When inflating, the thickness is good but a bit at either end remains pinched after several weeks. Probably a permanent defect. Since people don't normally sleep on the very edges of the bed, this is annoying but probably not a major issue. Again, this would run you about $400 elsewhere...and probably still leave you with the same concerns to deal with. As far as the effectiveness of the foam itself - the mattress will usually apply support pressure to your body at a wide range of irregular angles. The foam is very effective at regulating this effect so that support pressure is applied smoothly in response to your weight and shape. It does not precisely make the bed *softer* so much as it makes it do what it already does, better. 3" is also quite thick...very nice for your large American sleepers, but possibly too thick for smaller builds. You can't really cut it to be thinner either. Consider buying the 1" or 2" versions instead if this is you - you can stack two toppers easily if you want it thicker after all.
