Does this require a box spring or can it go on the slats of a log bed without a box spring.
I did a lot of research before buying this and went with the 12 inch as people had stated to go at least 10. This bed is every bit as comfortable as my $2000 king bed. The foam topper is built in thereby saving that extra cost which I would no doubt need on a traditional mattress. Unwraps easily and rolls right out onto the frame. I'm sleeping on it for the time being as I've long term company but eventually it will go to my granddaughter. I can recommend it for children, teens and adults. Great buy....

After suffering for years with uncomfortable mattresses my back pain was getting worse. Add to this hubby snoring and I doubt if I was even getting 6 nights of sleep. Ususally I slept in 1-2 hour cycles and would be up and had a hard time falling asleep. I was always tired during the day too. Bought two twin size mattresses for our king bed. Fet twin would be easier to deal with since I like to change bedroom furniture around. Mattresses arrived yesterday in perfect condition. I put them right on the bed and there was no offgassing or chemical smell. I decided to see if they would expand to use that night and if not I still had my old mattress in the hall. They expanded just fine. The mattresses are very firm which my husband wanted. I still put my 2 inch foam topper on top of the mattress becaue I am used to sleeping on it and will not give it up. I went to bed and literally slep through the night only getting up for a drink of water. I felt so comfortable and could move in any position and still felt comfortable. Also there was no feeling of movement when you changed position. I woke up refreshed and felt great. I noticed that hubby hardly even snored last night. I thought this was strange because his snoring keeps me awake. Hubby said "the mattress is wonderful and how nice it is to have a good night's sleep". I ordered the mattress without telling him and he thought they were a great value when I told him the price and they came from Overstock. I have researched mattresses for a few weeks and could not find anything this good on other sites. I refused to buy again from the local mattress store or big retail stores where we purchased our last two spring coil mattresses. After sleeping on this I would never go back to the old type of spring coil mattresses. There is a huge difference in comfort but one would not know unless you have one. When it comes times to get new mattresses for my kids I will buy them these. I will also recommend this to my friends and relatives. Now I will have to show everyone how comfortable my bed is when they visit since a few are saying they need new mattresses.Read More

I've bought memory foam toppers for my two children and for my husband and myself. They are all between 3 and 4 inch pads. We are all very, very, happy with these and we all sleep better at night because of them. For our new guest room....I decided to finally get a memory foam mattress. A full, 12-inch matress, like this one, the one I bought and paid about $$$ for.....I picked the medium softness after reading the reviews. I am back on overstock now, buying a 3 inch topper FOR MY MEMORY FOAM BED!!!! It feels like sleeping on a rock compared to the standard reg. mattress with the reg. memory foam pad. Be careful! I wish I would have gotten the softer option, hopefuly the bed will get softer after the pad arrives and I've had it longer!Read More
I never owed a memory foam mattress before and I was pleasantly surprised at its comfort. it is also surprisingly light to easy to move around. I had a guest stay for 4 nights and he said it was great. Unfortunately the mattress did have an odd smell for the first three weeks. According to the manufacturer it would have an odd odor when you first open it. I was n0t expecting it to take that long to get rid off.Read More

Best Pillow-top Mattresses for Back Pain
The key to a good night's sleep when you have chronic back pain is as simple as choosing a good pillow-top mattress. Choosing the best mattress involves knowledge of your personal needs and preferences. To get a comfortable night's sleep, start by choosing a pillow-top mattress made from the right materials for you. Next, choose your preferred thickness. Finally, have firm sleep support underneath the cushions of the pillow-top. Below, you'll learn the best pillow-top mattresses for back pain. Choose the materials: Pillow-top mattresses are made from a variety of materials, so choosing the one that is right for you can make all the difference in the world. People with muscle pain should consider down pillow-top mattresses, which provide a cocoon to sleep in. Those with back issues will generally prefer memory foam pillow-top mattresses, which conform to the body and offer consistent support to areas like the lower back. However, it is important to check the manufacturer's information regarding the recommended weight allowances for these types of pillow-tops. Consumers who are heavier than the recommendations may find that the pillow-top cushion compresses in uncomfortable ways, leaving the mattress lumpy. Determine the thickness: Pillow-top mattresses come in a variety of thicknesses, from just 2 inches to 8 or more inches deep. Like choosing the right materials for your pillow-top, choosing the right depth is vital to getting a good night's sleep. Thinner pillow-top mattresses will allow more of the support from the remainder of the mattress to come through and will not develop body indentations as pronounced as those in a deep pillow-top. Pillow-top mattresses that are too soft may fail to provide back support and cause an increase in back pain. However, deep pillow-top mattresses are excellent for customers who suffer from fibromyalgia or other chronic pain. Check the warranty: Just as you would with any other purchases of its size, check the warranty of your pillow-top mattress. Most manufacturers will provide limited, pro-rated replacement warranties for manufacturer's defects, and some will provide a "comfort guarantee." Others may have specific conditions that must be met in order to maintain the warranty, such as having a boxed spring by the same manufacturer. Take note of any special conditions for the warranty and keep the paperwork. View All Mattresses Back to Guides Directory View All Mattresses
Best Mattresses for Every Sleeping Position
A mattress is one of the most important purchases you can make because you spend hours each day sleeping and rejuvenating for the next day. While shopping for a new mattress, keep in mind the typical sleeping positions you have to ensure you will find the right mattress to help with bone or joint alignment. Below, you'll learn the best mattresses for every sleeping position. Sleeping on your back: If you primarily sleep on your back, you need to find a mattress with support to prevent pain in the lower back. Sleeping on a mattress that does not have enough support causes muscle strain in the back and increases the chance you will assume a poor posture during sleep, leaving you achy in the morning. The best mattresses for this sleeping position have at least 400 to 800 14-gauge coils. Innerspring mattresses feature firm coils to support the back yet still mold to the curvature of the spine. Mattresses with box springs are ideal for those who sleep on their backs because they stabilize weight, offering back support and increasing the life of the bedding. Sleeping on your stomach: While sleeping on your stomach is comfortable, it also increases pressure and strain on parts of the body like the neck or back. Soft mattresses are the best for those who sleep on their stomachs. Look for mattresses that have 300 to 400 14-gauge coils, which will ensure the mattress is soft and comfortable. If you must use a pillow, look into buying a memory foam style, which molds to the head and neck to stabilize them during sleep. Sleeping on your side: Side sleeping is one of the most common positions on a mattress, and it may also be one of the hardest positions to shop for. Since you lay on your side, there is pressure on the shoulders and hips, which could make a firm mattress uncomfortable for sleeping. A mattress that is too soft is often not supportive enough to keep the spine in proper alignment. The ideal mattress for this position is one that has supportive coils, with a memory foam topper to provide comfort to the joints of the body.
