We were hesitant and were reluctant to buy a "Unique Memory Foam mattress" site unseen or tested in person thru an online purchase - especially when we were plopping down over $500. on a King Size version - BUT after reading so very many positive 5 star reviews about this product, we decided to take the plunge. We have been sleeping on the mattress for over a week now and all my husband and I can say is "OH MY GOD - this is THE best mattress experience we have ever had". To read in Overstock's advertisement that this mattress "will provide deep, relaxing sleep; The Pillow top provides the ultimate in Memory Foam surface feel and comfort; Uncomfortable pressure-points common in most innerspring mattresses is eliminated" is a HUGE understatement. We could only hope that half of it were true. Well, it is ALL true and then some. We are a couple who have been together for over 25 years. Being "baby boomers" we have come to distrust so much that you read in ads and what the advertisement claims the product is capable of doing. Well, this mattress has certainly come thru and has restored our faith in advertisement...at least here on Overstock.com. One only has to have lived thru many years with the tossing and turning of another partner in bed with you to know that reading the statement "Say goodbye to the motion transfer you've learned to live with" would be a dream in itself if it were true. Well, it's true. Quite frankly, I didn't think there was a mattress capable of having a bowling ball dropped on the bed and not being able to notice it if you were lying down on it, but I know this mattress would withstand the movement as I no longer feel my husband moving at night (nor he of me moving at night). What the advertisement neglects to mention is you don't hardly move at all during the sleep cycle on this mattress. Once you lie on it, you become so comfortable you can forget about reading in bed or watching TV for any length of time as you are so comfortable, you are asleep in less then 10 mins. The beauty of never having to remember to turn the mattress is another plus along with being able to use our existing box springs without having to incur the cost of new ones was a selling point for us also. When we received the mattress - in less then a week - it was packaged exceptionally well. My husband and I were able to carry the mattress from the front door to the bedroom without any problems. Once unbagged according to the directions,(AND of note - there was NO SMELL whatsoever; a large concern for us as I am asthmatic and have a horrible time in the winter months) we put the mattress on the bed and left for work. When we returned there was no smell whatsoever and the mattress had completely puffed to a nice 13 inches (not 14 inches as noted but who cares about 1 inch). I was concerned our current sheets wouldn't fit but they did with no issues, but they had come off of our Thomasville Pillow Top Mattress and were on the "deep pocket" size already. This is certainly something you may want to take in to consideration if you are thinking of purchasing this particular mattress - it is thick. Just buy some deep pocket sheets if you don't already have some while you are waiting for the mattress to arrive. Sum total of it all: We have slept so well since the first night on this mattress. We wake up with more energy and my husband's back pain is no longer an issue upon rising. He is so pleasantly pleased. Do yourself a favor, especially if you are like us where we product review for months on end when we are going to be making a major purchase, get this mattress while it is still for sale at Overstock.com. You really, really, really, can't go wrong.

I was skeptical and nervous about buying a foam mattress. Our bed was a top of the line pillow top but we just couldn't sleep anymore. This 4lb foam is the most comfortable mattress that we have ever slept on . We put it on a platform bed, opened it, and waited 8 hours before putting the sheets on. It took it about 2 days to reach it's full height so don't be alarmed and think they sent you the wrong size! I love to sleep on my side, but my hips would hurt all night. I can now sleep on my side with 90% of the pain gone (it relieves pressure, unfortunately it can't cure arthritis!) My husband use to toss and turn and eventually go to the couch. He has not slept once on the couch since we got the mattress and when he does move around, I can barely feel a thing. Another odd thing is that he hasn't snored since we got the new matress either, really strange and I have not read anywhere that this is supposed to happen, but there it is, 3 months and no snoring! On a personal note, my husband has had knee surgery and his knees would hurt when we were intimate. Now he has 0 pain because the mattress absorbs weight instead of having springs that push back. Do research on the # of pounds that you need for the way you sleep. 4lb is supposed to be for side sleepers, but my husband sleeps on his back and loves it. Well, I hope this helps in your research for a foam bed.

Is memory foam supposed to remember? I purchased this mattress in March of 08 and wanted to take my time to give an adequate review after having had the opportunity to really sleep on the product. Dont waste your money if you weigh more than 200 lbs. This mattress was great for about 3 months. It was everything we were looking for in firmness and comfort! Then it started to lose it's memory. 9 months later, my wife's side is as good as the day we unwrapped it. Unfortunately my side is sloped like a ski ramp. Because I'm a big guy (250) my side has caved in and will not remember what shape it's supposed to be in! Next time I'll spend my money on the real deal. Now I'm stuck with a mattress that wont support me. As soon as sit or lay on my side it collapses and fails to support. This is a great mattress for people that dont weigh in the 2's but if you do and need support and comfort, runscreaming and spend on another product!

I have never written a positive review about anything, only negative one's (isn't that terrible) but I HAVE to write one on this mattress. I have to say that this is the best thing I have ever purchased! I was hesitant to buy it because at the time, there were no reviews but I read up on other one's without the top foam and they got positive reviews so I figured the one with the additional foam must be better and boy was I right! My husband says it is "the mattress from God" because his back pain is 100% gone and my hip pain is gone. I keep reading that it is too firm but I just don't see it and I've always appreciated a soft mattress. There was no smell when I opened it either. The best part, I cannot feel any movement in this bed and most nights we have 2 adults, a 4 year old and 2 great danes all piled in without knowing the other is even there! I think people are getting tired of me inviting them over to lay in my bed but you really do have to feel it to believe it! The only down side I've found is that my neck hurt because I sunk a little and my pillow had no give so, I just bought a $20 memory foam pillow and voila! Oh, I've also read that it's hard to sleep on your stomach but it's not. I almost feel compelled to say I will refund the money of anyone who buys this and is not satisfied! I'm gushing.....

We bought this bed almost 4 months ago and fell in love with it the first night (I think it had something to do with the fact that our previous bed was so broken down so anything would have felt like heaven compared to it). My husband and I sat down and read every single review on this mattress before purchasing. We just didn't feel like we were making a wise decision buying a mattress without even testing it out........boy do I wish we would have listened to our gut. This mattress was good for a few weeks and then for about 3 months, I didn't want to say anything to my husband but my back was just killing me in the morning again (and I'm only in my 30s so that should not be happening). I kept it to myself and finally said something to him the other day and he started laughing b/c he had the exact same thoughts, he just didn't want to say anything to me either b/c we were so excited when we got this thinking it was such a great deal on a "memory foam" mattress. You truly get what you pay for so do NOT expect this to be ANYTHING like tempurpedic b/c it is NOT. My parents have a true tempurpedic bed and everytime I've been to their house since we bought this bed, I lay on theirs and it feels NOTHING like ours. So please, please, please do not expect this bed to be like the high quality memory foam beds. It got so soft within about a month so maybe if you like a very soft bed, then this is for you - otherwise, run FAR, FAR away. The other thing I noticed when we got it is that you can press your hand down in the mattress and with memory foam, you should be able to see your hand print then it slowly fades away as you lift your hand, with this mattress, you press your hand down and when you lift it, the mattress just bounces right back - it doesn't leave a print or anything. I think I've said enough - we're going to try a REAL memory foam mattress topper and if that doesn't help, we're going to have to fork out the money for the tempurpedic. I think Overstock.com gives a fair and accurate description of the product, I just wish I didn't put so much faith in all the reviews I read.

I have been looking at these for some time and when I came across this we could not pass up the price. We really do like it however when purchasing it they could not tell us if it was considered FIRM or PLUSH. It is FIRM for sure. Very comfortable but if you prefer plush this is not for you. The smell is lingering - each day a little better. Also it does not look exactly like the picture - you can't see the definition of the pillow top becuase it is encased in a cover.

There are a lot of great reviews about the initial appearance, so I decided to wait 6-8 months to do a review of how it's holding up.First an overview of initial opinions:1. Expanded quickly2. No lingering order from our mattress3. My husband and I really wondered if we'd made a mistake the first couple of nights because we woke up pretty stiff. Luckily, we had read the review of people with the same thought that eventually loved it. The stiffness really only lasted about three or four nights.After seven months, we really couldn't be happier. I love that this mattress is really the best of both worlds. Because it has the pillow top, you don't find that you sank into your mattress when you wake in the morning. After the first few nights, I can honestly say I no longer wake up with lower back or neck pain. I may flip sides once during the night, but I do not toss and turn like I used to. My husband sleeps on his belly, I sleep on my sides or back. Neither one of us wake up stiff or with any pain anymore. The support is fantastic and having the pillow top gives it that extra plushness that makes for a great combo.As it has the pillow top, I don't flip the mattress. However, I just turned it last month. I don't particularly feel like it changed anything or that it necessarily needed it. It just seemed like the thing to do. I will say that it is extremely heavy. We purchased this mattress in a king and also purchased a platform bed frame. Changing the sheets usually requires some grunting and heaving. But really, a minor issue.I read the reviews from people saying they slept so well they didn't need as much sleep anymore. This was a very exciting prospect to me. But I must report that because I sleep so soundly, I find myself wanting to stay in bed longer! Additionally, our dog has started sneaking up on the bed in the middle of the night because we don't feel her jump up (and therefore don't wake up to kick her off). She's a 75lb dog, so that should give you some idea of how much support and stabilization this mattress gives.All in all, we are extremely pleased with this purchase. It is always a little daunting to purchase something like a mattress online without personally seeing it, laying on it, etc. It was great to have such thorough reviews of the initial purchase. Hopefully this one will help to further give confidence in how it holds up to prospective buyers!

My husband and I were in the market for a new mattress and had tried out several in the stores. We both liked the tempurpedic memory foam mattress that retails for around $3000.00; since we both have different needs in firmness, and my husband is a violent tosser who snores, it seemed to be the answer... though the sticker price was frightful. Then I checked overstock, and after reading just about every review for this 14 inch memory foam mattress, and for a fraction of the name brand cost, decided to give it a try. Note that you can't really try it because once you open it you can't return it!!!!! We do admit that we took a chance when we bought it. To say the least we were not happy with our night(s) sleep. We did not conform to the foam and could not find a comfortable position to fall asleep in, leave alone stay in. As a newlywed couple we would find ourselves embracing in the morning not for the, " I love you factor" but rather to give each other a back rub. Did I mention how disappointed I am with this purchase? Sigh... I even questioned weather or not their is a quality control issue as so many people had found this mattress to be wonderful (did they leave out the memory foam and just put a foam slab together in our mattress?) ...alas, I don't know what to tell you about that. Out of desperation for a good nights sleep, I ordered the 3" memory foam mattress topper. The topper made the mattress into what it was supposed to be, allowing our body's to sink in and maintain support in that position. I have found a much better night sleep, and am not disturbed by my husbands movement.... oh wait.... the movement part may be due to the fact that in the middle of the night he often gets out of bed and sleeps on a camping mat on the floor because he is in such pain from the mattress (he likes a real firm surface). In conclusion, I wish we had gone with the basic model sleep number bed at around $1000.00 and added a memory foam mattress topper on my side, (we didn't go with the sleep number because it felt like sleeping on a air mattress unless you spent like $2000.00 more for the one with all the foam layers.) Expensive learning lesson for us, and hopefully a helpful review for you. Bottom line, get a mattress topper for around $130.00 to see if that does the trick for you before investing nearly 5 times that amount on the full blown thing. Good luck and happy shopping.

First, this is not a pillowtop mattress. It contains the three layers described, but no quilted pillowtop - just a memovable cover that is not even washable: spot clean only. Second, it is not for side sleepers - elsewhere on the Overstock site, 4-lb.memory foam is recommended for side sleepers. Now, I normally can sleep on anything, even cheap hotel beds. My wife and I both sleep on our sides, and neither of us could do so on this mattress; we tossed and turned all night! Ultimately, I painstakingly removed the pillowtop and convoluted foam from our old mattress - the one with individually-pocketed coils - and put them on top of the new one. Of course, I now had to buy new sheets that could accommodate the extra 4" depth that I added. Now we can sleep on it. Perhaps, if you are a back-sleeper and like a firm mattress, you might like this mattress. Finally, a note about delivery: The shipping company is supposed to call before delivery to make arrangements for you to receive it, inspect it and sign for it. This did not happen. I came home to find it left at my front door for anyone to carry off. Never again will I buy a mattress online, without having tried it in a store first or without having the option of returning it.

My husband and I recently bought this bed as a Christmas present to ourselves. I have been diagnosed with fobromyalgia for 13 years now, and sleeping has always been a bitter sweet experience for me...I'm always exhausted, but my mattresses have always bruised me and caused severe sleep disruption. We finally decided we had to try someting and read the overwhelmingly positive feedback on this matress so we gave it a try. We were nervous buying a non-returnable mattress we had never seen, from an undisclosed brand, online--big purchase for such a gamble, but went for it. It was the BEST decision. This mattress is literally half to a third the price of some competitors and it works just as well. We heard it might smell for the first week--it didn't even smell for an hour. We heard it would take 2-3 days to regain its form; it took less than 12 hours. We slept on it the first night we got it. We read it was delivered quickly, and it was. We recieved the mattress exactly one week after ordering it. We heard it was really firm, and though definitely not soft, it isn't firm in the ouch really uncomfortable stiff way you would usually think. It's firm in a very supportive, molding and comfortable way. If you want to sink into bed, like you would into a down comforter, this is not the sleeping experience for you. But if you want to wake up without back or neck stiffness, then it very much is the bed for you! The day after Christmas I got really sick and have literally been bed bound for 9 days. Usually I would have bruises and a host of other fibro symptoms from being in bed so long...this bed is heaven. No bruising, no sleep disruptions, no additional aches and pains. The mattress truly molds to your body and provides a very relaxing and comforting night sleep. My husband works on his feet all day and has frequent leg and back pain at night. He says this is the best sleep he's ever gotten. We are thrilled with our purchase, thrilled we didn't spend over 1,000 more on a "brand" name mattress like we almost did. We can't reccomend it highly enough.

I'm a physician and my fiancee and I were skeptical of buying a knock-off memory foam mattress. But, after reading the comments, we felt it was worth the risk for the price. We couldn't be happier. We've had it about a week and I'm not kidding...after one night of sleeping on the mattress, I'm virtually pain-free. Trust me, I know what you're thinking and I can't even believe it. All I can say is I've lived with back pain for most of my life and I have next to none as of now. I rarely fill out one of these reviews, but I felt it was my duty to let everyone know how wonderful this mattress has been for my back. It is not too hard, like I read about and I think it's just perfect. Buy it.

This is everything it said it was. We looked at $2400.00 memory foam matresses in the store and this is the same quality as those. Nice cover 6 inch memory foam top not just 3 inch. It regained its shape in 6 hours and was exactly the measurements that were listed in the description. Highly Recommend.

This mattress was great for the first 45 days. Then it begins to leave body impressions in mattress. The form collapses and you have deep impression in mattress. Does not support your body weight like it did for the first 45 days of use. Would not buy this mattress again.

I absolutely love the pillow top... but the mattress is HARD. I've always bought "Firm" mattresses, but this is ridiculous. It's almost like sleeping on a 3-inch pillow top that's placed directly onto a hard floor.When I sleep on my side, my shoulder and hip can't sink down enough, so my back has to arch to the side to accommodate the mattress. It's a little better when I sleep on my back, but I would be more comfortable if my butt could sink into the mattress a little more.My husband likes this bed more than I do. Our theory is that his extra weight can compress the foam enough for him to get comfortable -- he weighs 190 lb (86 kg), and I weigh 115 lb (52 kg). You might want to think twice about getting this if you're relatively light.Some other random thoughts:- 14 inches is *very* deep. It's a little difficult to find sheets that claim they can deal with that depth, and a lot harder to find sheets that *actually* work well with it. This is made even harder if you have a slightly slippery mattress protector on your bed.- We couldn't smell anything on the mattress after the initial 3-day expansion period... but I suspect that the plastic packaging (for shipping) could leave a lingering smell on beds that are kept in the wrapping too long.- After 3.5 months, the mattress doesn't have any body impressions, and it doesn't dip in the middle when we're both on it (unlike our old spring mattress). This was a major deciding factor for getting the mattress, and this particular aspect hasn't let us down yet.I think this bed could work well for some people, but the danger of buying online means that you can't test it out first. Be prepared for a mattress that's very firm (after 3 inches of wonderfully soft pillow top).

purchased product 03/08, loved it for about a month, no longer confortable, we are not large people and already there are body indentations, not worth the money, better off with our old conventional mattress and a topper, would not recommend.

we were surprise with the price, quality and confort of this mattress it is outstanding. We are having great rest and great sleep since we got it. Be aware, ours was 1 to 2 inches oversize all around. It will take a couple of day to fully expand but it is by far the best mattress ever, soft , comfy and i do not wake up because my spouse move or rolls around. Our only compliant is about the freight company use locally in central florida ( evergreen ) which failed 5 times to deliver the item ( was in in the truck,they said then nothing was deliver ) also this item because of the way is shipped tend to be damage while in transit. It took us a while to actually get the mattress ( 36 days ) while is was ship, replaced because it was damage then for evergreen to finally delivered it after many calls and emails. Overall score: mattress 100% shipping company 25%.

I had been waking up to pains in my lower back for several months. As a result I started looking at memory foam mattresses. The name brand prices quickly reach $2700 for a king size mattress. I was surprised to find this on Overstock.com for a 3rd of the price. After looking at all the reviews, we bought the 14" memory foam mattress. After calling Overstock and tracking down the mattress with the freight company we recieved our mattress. It arrived in good condition and after opening the shipping bag, the mattress quickly began to expand. It was fully expanded in less than 6 hours. It did have a slight smell, but nothing significant. We slept on it the first night. It's been a couple weeks now and I have noticed a siginficant reduction in back pain and an improvement in the quality of sleep. My wife and I both sleep more soundly. It's well worth the money.

We moved from sleeping on water (30 yrs) to this memory foam mattress. It's always to risk to drastically change what you sleep on, but we had a test drive. We put a topper on our RV mattress and that was a pleasant experience. This 14" mattress is a different beast. It is firm. If you have slept on a regular 'very firm' mattress...hated the pressure points but liked the firmness... then this is the mattress for you. It is very firm but no pressure points. If you are looking for a med. or softer... cloud like experience... skip this mattress. You could add a soft topper but then most sheets would not fit and increasing the thickness to 16"... that's pretty thick. We wanted firm so this fits us fine. Be ready for it's arrival to your home. 18" dia. by 80" long black, heavy cloth tube. When cut open it expands pretty fast. We slept on it 8 hrs. after opening. The off-gassing smell did bother my wife. We'd suggest uncovering it every day for a few days after you get it. If you sleep 'hot', then memory foam might not be what you want in the summer. Memory foam holds heat, that's what activates it's ability to conform to your body. We will be adding some kind of topper during the summer to offset this issue. This mattress is a great value, good fit and finish.

After shopping locally I wasn't sure if I wanted to get this as the local ones all seemed to feel a bit different but I couldn't bring myseld to spend twice as much or more just to buy it in a store. After two weeks we are definately sleeping well and I no longer am awakened when he gets up to go to the bathroom or rolls around. I would recommend this to a friend, I would caution you however to get a true platform bed. We added slats to our new regular bed and I'm not sure I'll be able to get the fitted sheet that I put on before squeezing it into the frame back off again to wash. The delivery person was horrible and gave us a VERY HARD time when we wanted to take the canvas off to inspect for damage. The delivery service didn't call first to setup an appt and I watched him drag it through the snow up the driveway before he brought it in. It took a review of the rules in Overstock and a call to his boss for us to be allowed to remove it, he previously tried to grab it right out of my hand to drag it back out as "unaccepted" before he got the ok from his boss to let us look. It was horrible service but the bed is good.
