Columbus Walnut Queen Premier Mattress Futon Set

It is quite a job to put this together but we were very happy with this futon, especially the mattress because it is so comfortable. Also happy with the queen size. Unfortunately the cam on one arm (this attaches the frame) came out of wood and we had to get a replacement arm. We received the replacement arm within a week so we were pleased with the service on the problem. In fact, we received two arms which was good so that the wood color matched on both ends. Now had this over a year and grandchildren sleep and sit on it all the time with no problems.

The futon frame I received was solidly OK. Not worth what it was priced at, but overall a nice frame. The mattress, however, was a huge disappointment. It did not fit the frame and was only 6" thick. I went back and forth with customer support several times trying to convince them that this was NOT the 8" queen sized mattress, we got a 6" full, but they would only give me the option to return the whole set. There was no way I could take the futon frama apart and get it back in boxes, I just wanted the mattress replaced! I ended up fidning a local furniture store that would give me a credit so I could buy a decent mattress from them. Thanks to O.co's bad customer service, I'm out an extra $170 just so I could get the mattress that was supposed to come with this set. I bought a queen sized mattress cover to fit the 8" mattress. It was much to big for the mattress. Bad times. The local dealer who took the terrible mattress off my hands confirmed that it wasn't more than 6" deep (at any part of the mattress). Find a local furniture store so you know you're getting what you paid for.

The advertisement said the futon set was made in the USA, but I have my suspicions, since the (very poor) assembly directions and parts obviously came from China. If I had to choose again, I would have stuck with getting a regular queen size bed instead of this futon, but I'll have to stick with my decision now. The set serves the purpose, but isn't anything out of the ordinary. Mattress comfort is average.

At first I was concerned about the FedEx shipping, arriving intact in two large boxes, but my fears were allayed when all arrived intact--no scratches or dings on the product--a tribute to the packing. The small hardware bag was torn on the inside, however, and all the screws, bolts, and nuts were scattered everywhere, yet contained inside the box. After a 2 hour assembly process, just as similar products have described, lots of small screws, etc. were left over, purportedly for use had this been a METAL arm futon. (Better to have too many parts than not enough!) It's a comfortable mattress--my wife really likes it! The arms are wide enough for magazines & books, and underneath the 4" arms--the flip-up lid--is a hidden compartment on each side for storage of remotes, pens, etc. A really good deal for the money!
