These very laterns are used in Asia to signify a death in the family. Be aware that if you hang them outside, your Asian friends and neighbors will assume you've lost a loved one and may show up with a cassarole.

I totally aqree with the reviews I read prior to ordering these beautiful lanterns. I am very pleased with their construction and can't wait to hang them in our garden when we invite friends for a BBQ.

I wanted to add a little color to our back deck and found these lanterns online. I had been looking everywhere for something similar and was very pleased with the overall quality of these lanterns. The cloth material is thick and stood up in the rain. Only one of them showed any signs of the color bleeding due to the rain and I think that was due to something else. The material is protected by the glass votive holder on the inside and they definately added some nice color to the backyard!

I bought these as a gift and was so surprised how heavy duty and well constructed they are! Note: The lanterns only expand out if they are hung. You can't set them around a deck. There reason is that you can place the glass candle holder and candle in the lantern when collapsed and when you hang them up, the candles are safely protected in the lanterns. My step-mom plans to hang them around her gazebo. Once again my expectations have been exceeded by Overstock.
