This is the best coffee maker we have ever had. The coffee is HOT unlike most coffee makers that are simply warm. I love the seperate hot water side for chilli night when you want a cup of tea and not brew more than a cup at one time.

I looked a long time for a new coffee pot -- purchased this one primarily because I: (a) wanted one that would make piping hot coffee, and (b) wanted to try one with a water filter since we have a lot of calcium in our water. While I like the coffee pot, it's really no better than the free one that came from Gevalia, but it is better than others I've had in that it can make HOT coffee. I can't say that I notice any difference from the filter, but then since our water always tastes fine, I'm not surprised. (I'm hoping the filter protects the insides of the coffee pot from calcium.) Pros: fine coffee, and I sort of like the polite little beep it gives you when it's done brewing and also when it's turning itself off. I also purchased the refurbished unit and it arrived in new condition. Cons: You better know from the markings on the carafe how much water you're pouring in, because the water guide/meter on the coffee maker itself is worthless -- it's INSIDE and not only is it difficult to see without a strong, direct light (or flashlight!) as you peer way in, you can't even see the markings until the 6 cup point, and even that's hard to see - 8 is easier. I make 4 cups at a time so never use the gauge on the coffee maker. I can't imagine why they don't have the gauge on the outside like every other coffee maker on the planet. It also takes about 25% more coffee to brew the same strength as other coffee makers. Overall, I would say it is an average coffee maker. No big complaints, no wows either.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this coffee maker! This is my 2nd Cuisinart (my other one still works like brand new after 8 years!). However, I wanted to get the best coffee maker I could find with the thermal caraf. It works wonderfully!!! I normally do not like to have more that 2 cups of coffee because it sits on a hot plate and starts to get a sharp or somewhat burned taste. This thermal container literally keeps the coffee warm and fresh ALL DAY!!! Please note that when pour your first cup right after brewing, it will be extremely hot! But, I can go back 12 hours later and have a cup of warm (not hot) coffee that still tastes as fresh as the first cup, just not as hot! I am going to buy one of these for my brother's lake house. The family sits on the screened in porch and has coffee every morning but we're always getting up to get more coffee. With a serving tray, you can take this thermal caraf, your sweetner/creamer, etc out on the porch and freshen our cups there -- until the pot runs out. :O) Then, it's time to brew another and by the way that doesn't take long either. My friends call me a 'coffe snobb'......so i think that anyone would be thrilled with the coffee maker. Yes, it difficult to see the level of water you're pouring in with the guide being on the side, but that is minor compared to how wonderful this appliance is! Thanks to all those who wrote reviews for this product, that is what helped me choose this one.

All of the coffee makers have bad reviews and I could not find one with better reviews than this one. My Melitta grind-and-brew was falling apart so I needed a coffee maker. This one makes pretty good coffee after I figure out the grind level on my grinder. And it is simple to operate. But there are some stupidity build in. First of all the tank lid does not stand up. Filling from the carafe takes more water because lid does not allow to pour all of the water by being in the way. Setting 1-4 cups takes more steps than necessary. They should have just put one button for this feature. Yet it takes to push menu few times and then to push + or - and then "set". Why? Why not just push "set" if I am already on the menu.

Okay, at the risk of sounding like a nitpick I just can't rave about this coffee maker. Frame of reference: this was the replacement for a well-loved 10-year-old 10-cup *********** (roughly same price range as the Cuisinart) that was just "getting tired", developing a few small stress cracks/leaks, etc. First and foremost, does this Cuisinart accomplish its task of making decent coffee? Yes. It does. However, I'm no more than "luke warm" on this unit for a number of reasons. If you're the average person who just wants to sling water into a machine and push a button and drink coffee, these reasons probably won't matter much to you. But for the "look, I'm paying around a hundred bucks for a coffee-maker instead of buying a 20-dollar-******* so it better be dang nice" crowd, read on. Here we go: Nitpick #1: There is no "AM" versus "PM" on the time clock. The manual SAYS there's supposed to be, but when setting the time or the intended brew time, the clock just cycles "10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 1:00" but there's no am/pm indicator. This makes it impossible to know if you're setting 10:00am or 10:00pm--making any timed brews useless. THIS WAS THE ENTIRE REASON we bought this coffee-maker--automated morning wakeups with fresh coffee. And we can't use it because of a drop-dead-design-flaw (or, ours is just defective). BIG bummer. Nitpick #2: The carafe. The lid on the carafe is mildly temperamental. We find it VERY easy to accidentally mis-align the lid, so that it's "cross-threaded". It's easy to recognize and correct, but it does mean that about once every 2-3 uses we have to unscrew and re-screw the lid several times to get things aligned. Just an annoying nuisance. Nitpick #3: The fill level indicator. The fill level CANNOT be seen from the front of the coffee maker. This means you must pull out ant TURN the coffee maker 90-degrees left to pour water into it (or, alternately, squeeze your head between the coffee maker and the shelving to its left). REALLY? They couldn't make the fill indicator visible from the front? This is a HUGE downgrade from the removable fill tank the ******* unit had, where we'd just fill it in the sink, snap it in, and click "Brew". Nitpick #4: Pour speed. I'm groggy. It's early morning. I'm moody. I want my first cup of coffee NOW. It's bad enough I couldn't have it waiting for me (See Nitpick #1) but now I'm subjected to a wait..for..it...wait..for...it as this carafe pours incredibly slow. Like, less than 1 oz per second slow. 15 seconds to pour a 15 oz cup of coffee? I've resorted to removing the lid to pour, which solves that problem by just adding steps. Honestly, I would NEVER buy this coffee maker again or recommend it. It just doesn't live up to the "expectation of Cuisinart quality".

Great coffee maker. Brews quickly and quietly with attractive styling. The extra settings for "bold and medium" brew is nice also.

This is my first time using a french press type coffee maker, so I didn't know what to expect. I read the instructions and was able to make a pretty good cup of coffee using this pot. As another reviewer mentioned, the coffee doesn't stay really hot because of the 4 minute steeping time recommended. I cover the spout with a little piece of foil while steeping and that seems to help keep the heat in. I have used the press about 6 times, on the 4th time, the rim of the pot cracked in the sink while washing. I am still able to use it but I can see it's going to have a limited life. I would buy a french press again but I think I will spend more and get a higher quality press. For the money, I think it's a good enough purchase and am on the fence about whether I would recommend, yes if you are on a limited budget and are a careful disher washer. But if you're looking for a lasting french press, maybe go up in price.

It is the right size for the one person that only drinks coffee once a day. For my self I had limit myself only 5 cups of coffee in the morning and no more the rest of the day. I don't wast coffee or water. To me is very good.

The special carafe is specifically what drew me to this product. The carafe is advertised as heat-retaining and there is no hot-plate on the coffee maker itself. The carafe does indeed keep the contents hot, not just warm, for more than adequate time. I drink 2-3 cups of coffee each morning and the third cup is as hot as the first when I get around to pouring it.

I bought this online when my Cuisinart crashed and burned. Our coffee maker gets a lot of use. I was looking for a thermal carafe coffee maker and entered into search but in my rush to order, I didn't realize this was glass carafe. It has a lot of features like heat setting for the hot plate to prevent scalding coffee. But I hate hot plates because it will still burn the coffee. This has an auto set feature but what a pain to set. You have to go through like 4 modes to set it every night. I really liked my previous Cuisinart coffee maker but have never found one to last beyond a year. This one when it breaks, I definitely will not buy another one.

This is a great coffee maker. It looks great, it makes 12 cups, it has the automatic feature, the thermos pot keeps the coffee fresh and hot for hours, it's easy to clean. The design is slightly taller than the more common boxy Cuisinarts, but because it is narrower, it doesn't seem to take up as much space. I love getting 12 cups of coffee at once for our 3- person household. The coffee is excellent and the automatic feature is a no-brainer. If I set it up the night before, I wake up to fresh hot coffee no matter how much later I get up. A baby- bottle brush cleans the pot quickly. To clean the 'patented' lid, I just swish it through some hot soapy dishwater, then rinse : voila! Kudos to Overstock once again. I found this coffee maker on another site for less but the shipping and handling charges made it only a negligible savings; 'allow 5-10 business days for delivery.' You can always count on Overstock -I received my coffee maker less than 48 hrs. after ordering. Thanks, Overstock!

Practical now that we can make more than one cup at a time. The only thing is that you have to change the no of onces you want every time you make a cup. Not all the K up fit in the 2.0 model even if they have the logo be very careful.

I love my new kuerig however it does not take the old K-cups and I became very frustrated with this. I had to call Kuerig directly and they gave me a coupon for 3 free boxes. Until this becomes more available you need to go through Kuerigs website to order the K cups. ******** is so far the only one that offers the 2.0 reuseable cup. Once I got past all this it was wonderful!

This is a great coffee maker. The coffee is very hot. Also, because of the slower drip, the coffee flavor is more intense. I love that it's programmable and each cup is good through the 2 hrs. it's on the warming tray. I highly recommend this coffee maker.

We are serious coffee drinkers who grind their own beans daily; won't settle for a so-so cup of coffee. We are quite pleased with the KitchenAid coffee maker. After almost a year of daily use, it has been trouble free and brews a great cup of coffee. We use paper filters in the filter basket to make it easier to clean.,

This coffee maker makes great tasting coffee. The most impressive thing is that coffee does not dribble down the front of the carafe when I poor a cup. Cuisinart makes a carafe that does not dribble. The down side of this coffee maker is that during the brew process steam will rise up threw to the grinder. This makes the coffee cake onto the sides of the grinder and more difficult to clean. I should have spent more to get the one with the bur grinder.
