This charming piece is made in the village of Ban Twai, in the Golden Triangle region of Northern Thailand. Local artisans carve the iguana sculpture from local driftwood, then paint it in bright shades of green and yellow. The base of the bank is made from a coconut.

This is an excellent gift for any reptile lover. I bought this for my brother, who in his 40's. It's received many positive comments. I have to say that the one I received did not have evil looking eyes, which I was sceptical about. the eyes are made of simple red beads, nothing scary or mistical. The workmanship is excellent. I recommended my brother spray a water sealant on it if he plans on exposing it to water or placing it outdoors.

This bank came and it was nothing like the picture. The iguana was bright green with no highlights like in the picture. The glue had run dowm the side of the bank. Poorly constructed and hideously ugly.

The bank itself was cute I suppose. Perhaps I didn't look at the pictures enough, but mine came with really strong evil red-looking eyes. Nothing like the other iguana product I purchased from OS which was the figure on the log. It was well painted and of decent quality, I just didn't personally like the appearance of the item

Such a nice, unusual bank. Be advised that banks made in other countries often do not have an "access" hole. The intent is to fill the bank and then break into it when you want to remove the money, instead of steadily pilfering. I have several clay banks from Mexico that also do not have access holes. This is not a defect of the product!
