The Clayton customizable furniture have a nice look to them and a decent feel. The microfiber is soft and have been durable so far after a month of use by 2 people and a dog. Assembly was relatively easy but the process of assembling the furniture makes you realize that the wood used make the parts are fairly poor. Everything is held down by heavy duty metal clamps but the wood that it clamps onto don't inspire a lot of confidence. Of all the pieces, the arm is worst. The main supporting wood beams are normal and will probably hold up but the top surface where people usually put their weight on to push themselves up while getting off the sofa has a super thin piece of wood which will crack easily. The only purpose of the thin piece of wood is to give the feel of a firm top surface so it's not vital in terms of support but still very disappointing to have it crack within 48 hours. All is fine after you crack the remaining sections b/c the feel of the surface will be more consistent and less noticeable that something did crack. If you can live with arms on the side then save your money. One other thing to point out is that all the legs of the Clayton set are made of wood like plastic which surprised us.
