  • surprised buyer

This was my first time buying furniture from overstock. I was nervous about the purchase. I wanted two recliners for my small leaving room. I am from NYC and the biggest problem is to find furniture. My husband loves the chair. He is 5.9 and a little bit on the heavy side. He seat, reclines and falls as sleep right away. I like the look it provides to my leaving/dinning room look. It was very easy to put together. It has a strong frame and it is easy to clean.

  • Great for small spaces

This isn't the sturdiest of chairs but it's just the right size for a smaller room and you can't beat the price for a recliner

  • Good low-cost, small recliner

This recliner is small. It's not the nicest quality you'll ever buy. But it looks great! We have it in our family room...somewhat as more of a staging piece in the corner. But guests always tell us how much they love the chair. It works good for our smaller family room area.

  • Great Buy!

I purchased this chair for a small space in our office that is now a "feel-better" room. This chair is modern, thin and surprisingly comfortable. Assembly was a breeze. I would definitely recommend this item.

  • Stylish recliner, CANNOT beat price

This is an awesome chair/recliner for the price. The light gray color + dark legs = goes with everything; it will probably look fine with a wide variety of other furniture styles, fabrics, palettes, etc. I've mixed it with a dark brown sofa and elements of light blue, green, and toffee colors. Because the styling is very simple, very clean and modern, the "look" of the piece itself isn't going to go out of style; it's just straight lines, angular, but nicely padded and thus fairly comfortable. Two things on comfort: yes, the seat is very hard when you first get the chair. Remedy: just sit in the chair. You'll break the seat in shortly. The back is nicely padded, and the reclining feature is awesome--I don't even think the site mentions it, but as another reviewer noted, you can recline to be almost horizontal. The leg rests, the smoothness of the reclining operation--seriously insane that a chair that looks this nice is also a recliner FOR THIS PRICE. The chair is also very sturdy and goes together in 5 minutes (screw in legs; slide back into seat; done). The seat is roomy enough--keep in mind this is not "oversized," "overstuffed" furniture, or whatever people buy when they're 280 lbs and are set on being able to curl up in an arm chair; if you're just looking for a chair for people to sit in, the roominess is more than adequate. The fabric is smooth and matte, straight piping/cord at edges, but fairly thin fabric overall; some seams (not the corded or more visible ones) look less precise, as does the wrapping of the fabric around the bottom edge, and most of all, the construction of the upholstery down most of the back of the chair--it's basically a flap of fabric you velcro down to the underside of the base of the chair, so the upholstery can compensate for the reclining movement. Essentially, you'll not want the back of the chair to be visible to the room. The arm rests are probably the only other "quirk" I would note--they're very thin and straight--there's no flare out or extra curve to them etc. If it's important for you to have roomy arm rests, which I guess it could be for some people, this is not the chair--this should be visible in the photograph, but I didn't notice it till I got the chair. However, any minuses were to me far outweighed if not completely irrelevant because of the chair's overall quality, comfort, style, and PRICE!! Thanks, Overstock!

  • Great chair for the price

This chair was really easy to assemble and was pleased with the fabric look and feel. The color is a true grey (no blue or brown undertone line some grey can have). The chair is pretty deep in the seat but I added a colorful throw pillow and it really made it more comfortable for me. The back is a nice height when reclining you can rest your head on the edge comfortably but not a high back like some recliners that give the little old lady hair smoosh. Very pleased with this chair and the price is great.

  • Needs tweeking once recieved.

The main reason I bought the chair was because I wanted a reclining club chair at a decent price. It's a decent chair, but is very low to the ground. I had to buy new legs that were taller because the foot rest would get stuck on the carpet every time I put it make underneath the chair. It is very deep once you sit in it as well, which can be fixed with a colorful pillow. Also, it is quite narrow. I'm not a big person, so I fit in it okay, but I worry about any larger friends fitting in it comfortably. I've also been a little annoyed at how thin the armrests are and how long the back rest is. The back rest in the picture looks normal, but that is because it is laid back. Imagine it taller and straighter. Also, the chair is pictured at an angle, so the the armrests don't look too thin. If you look at it head on the armrests are very slender. If you are tall at all your feet will probably dangle in the reclining postion (I'm 5'4" and just bairly fit, my husband at 6' doesn't). It's a very blah kind of chair with little personality. I've considered having a slipcover made in a fun fabric with the money I saved on the purchase. As far as comort goes, as long as you have a pillow behind you it's fine to sit in.

Questions & Answers

Get your product questions answered right here.
  • How do you remove the back rest to dissemble chair.

    • Hello Kelli, the back of the chair clicks into place when you assemble it, by way of two metal tabs at the bottom of the reclining mechanism. The chair should be flipped so that the back is facing up. Peel back the fabric flap, and look at the assembly. On each side there are two metal tabs. These tabs need to be pulled out at the same time, while the back of the chair is pulled off. This really requires two people, and preferably something to help with the metal tabs as you might get hurt using your fingers, try a butter knife. Thank you for shopping with us.

  • Do you have to PUSH to recline or is there a handle? I need it for a recuperating spinal operation and cannot PUSH!

    • Hello justicegail, this chair is a pushback chair. It does require some pressure to get into a reclining position. Thank you for shopping with us!

  • Can you raise the footrest without reclining the back? I want to use the chair for reading with my legs raised but the back vertical.

    • Hello lizfurch, yes, you can raise the footrest without reclining the back. Thanks for shopping with us!

  • Can you show a picture of the back of this chair? We want to have 2 of these chairs in our living room free-floating and I want to make sure the back looks good. I'm concerned because another review stated that the back did not look "finished" because of the Velcro. Thanks!

    • Hello jen1208, we do apologize, we are not provided with additional photos. Thank you for shopping with us.

  • Hi there, I would like to purchase two of these for a client, but you have only one left. Will you be getting any more in? And do you ship to Brisbane Australia? Thanks Dani

    • Hello Dani Louis Design, yes we do ship to Australia. These are available right now. Have a great day!

  • Why did you choose this product?

    • color, simplicity, recliner - will make nice reading chair in bedroom

    • I am short and after reading the reviews I felt with the color and size it would be perfect for my size.

    • Both contemporary style and the light grey color.

    • sleek look and clean lines

    • The bonded leather chair I bought several years ago from a local retailer has been shedding to the point that I have to use a cover on it. I like the size and hope the lumbar in these is similar to what I have. If not, they're comin' back! (LOL) I have a gray leather rug I bought from OVERSTOCK.COM a year ago that I'm hoping these will go with. Also, very appreciative of the price! Paul D Vancouver, WA

    • Like the color.

    • color

    • Perfect size for my son's room.

    • PRICE!!, love the color, simple lines, perfect size and IT IS A RECLINER. Margoth Schmidt

    • Sleek and chic with a quiet color. Looks expensive but is a great price.

    • style and price

    • One of the few chairs of its kind that reclines, but doesn't look like a recliner. Sizing is hard to judge and the video of Christopher Knight sitting and reclining in the chair gave an excellent example of its actual size. I'm a big guy like Chris and it gave me comfort knowing that I wasn't buying a child size chair. Last but not least, Christoper Knight is cool as a cucumber and I love all of his designs.

    • Looks like it will fit space well, looks comfortable, and easy to move

    • great color and price

    • Because it looks to be slim-lined and that's what I need.

  • I am 6"3 Would I fit in this chair ,.Would my head be supported ? Tks

    • I am 5.3 and my head rests on the back of the chair fully supported when fully extended. However my husband is 6.1 and his head is not supported. The chair is great looking and a good addition to the room for seating. My footrest will not extend when the chair is in upright position--only in reclining position.

  • Can you tell me what the measurement from the front leg to the back leg is exactly. I have a fairly small space to put this and I need to be sure before I buy. Thank you!

    • Hello, snoopyfan42. The depth of the chair is approximately 55.5 inches and would need to be about 12 inches away from the wall (plus a little extra if you need more head space) to recline. Thank you for shopping with us.

  • How high is the back of this chair when assembled?

    • Hello ewgrow, just the seat back should be about 15 inches high, this is the difference between the seat height and the overall chair height of 33 inches. Please let us know if you have additional questions and thank you for shopping with us.

  • what material is this? It says linen, but does not appear to be linen. Thanks!

    • Hello furniturelady821, it is a linen blend fabric. Thank you for shopping with us.

    • It is linen.

    • Linen blend would be correct and perfect for warmer climates.

  • does this recliner come in white? or one similar to this

    • Hello, joy2jac. Hope your day is going well. This item is not available on our site in white. However, #15209713 is light beige and the closest to white in this style. Thank you for shopping with us and please feel free to contact us again with any further questions.

  • what weight does this chair support?

    • Hello gott1, I'm sorry does not weight test their items. Chairs like these typically hold up to 300 pounds. Have a great day!

    • My husband is 6'2" and 200 lbs. It was quite roomy for him sitting and reclining.

  • Product description says the chair is 33.5" wide. That is very wide! Is that accurate? I have a big recliner that I'm replacing, and it is only 27" wide.

    • Thank you for shopping with us ruthiep. I checked and have the updated dimensions. Total width: 27 ¼” Total depth (upright): 33 ½” Total height (upright): 33” Seat width: 20” Seat depth: 22 ½” Seat height: 17 ¾” Arm height: 23 ¾” Thank you for bringing our mistake to our attention, have a great day.

  • what is the measurement/height of the back of the chair? From the seat to the top. My husband is quite tall and want to make sure the top of the back of the chair will hit his shoulders.

    • My husband is 6'2 and he thinks the chair is comfortable. I don't have exact measurements because I am at work. It hits him just fine and he can relax his head back when its reclined. But beware this chair sits very low to the ground so getting in and out is more the issue!

  • how long is this on sale for?

    • Thank you for shopping with us. We are sorry but do not have a date when this is going back to the original price. This is a well-reviewed chair, if you are looking at getting a recliner for your home, don’t hesitate. Have a great day.

  • What is the weight of the chair?

    • Hello midgetjailbird, This is 60 pounds. Thank you for shopping with us!

  • I want to confirm that the fully reclined position holds its position, rather than spring back. I've had issues with another recliner springing back when fully reclined unless you keep pressure/ weight against it.

    • Hello cara81, When in the fully reclined position (as opposed to the middle position which is reclined but not as far back) it does require weight/pressure to keep it there. For example I weight about 135 and my weight is sufficient to keep it in place, however I feel that a lighter person might have issues. Without sufficient weight it will spring back to the middle position. Thank you for shopping with us!

  • Can the footrest be up without the back reclining?

    • Thank you tonio3 for the opportunity to help you with the Christopher Knight Home Darvis Grey Recliner Club Chair. Yes you can put your feet up without reclining. Like all recliners, if you put the foot rest out and then sit up, the back will straighten out, and your feet remain elevated. Thank you for shopping

    • no, you must recline

    • No, you must recline.

  • How much assembly is required? Specifically, do the back and seat come separately and need to be assembled? We need to move this up a very narrow staircase and would not be able to do so if it comes put together.

    • Thank you for your question stayinmass. They come apart. The backrest and the legs are the ones that need assembly. Have a great day.

    • You should have no problem getting it up a narrow staircase. The back of the chair easly connects to the rest of the chair, and the bottom wooden legs just screw in. You will love this chair!

    • The are separate, the box is small compared to assembled chair
