After a long search and agonizing over color combinations, I stumbled upon the Chopin Bronze valances. This is just the right combination of colors that I was looking for for our newly repainted dining room and adds the perfect finish to our windows. It is a medium brown background with gold, rust and olive green in the leaf design, which is a great foil for the metallic paint in our room. The quality of the material is excellent and I really like that these valances are lined, which makes them hang better. They were a little pricey but for the quality of the material and the extra finish of the braiding on the bottom, it's worth the investment.Read More

How to Hang a Valance and Curtains
Hanging a valance and curtains over your window will add dimension, texture and style to any room. Window curtains with a valance give your window treatments a finished, designer look. If you want to block out light, a valance and full-length blackout panel curtain is your best choice. If you are more interested in decoration and only need to block minimal light, then a valance over sheer curtains is a good choice. It's important to measure the window and decide what type of curtains you want before you buy the curtain hardware. A cafe rod will be sufficient to support a sheer curtain, but you will need a stronger curtain rod to support heavier fabrics such as blackout panels. Also, the larger the window, the sturdier the curtain rod will need to be.
