My handyman had to make the opening slightly larger to accommodate the ladder door and put new trim around but he did make it fit. It probably didn't save me much on the store price because of this.

I was disappointed, one screw was missing and the wooden enclosure was damaged when I opened the box it came in. It is not easy task to place the product squared into the attaic fitting but with alot of patience the task was completed. I puposely chose this model because of the weight load capablilty. The stair case of the product does not feel as solid as the wooden version does when in use. The Century attaic stairway serves its' purpose .
