What is the difference between this Cavaliere hood (Item #: 108022930) and the Cavaliere hood (Item #: 10802386 / Model No:SV218F36WM)?
I had this unit since aug 2008. When I first bought it, I had trouble with the dimmer because the control board FET failed and the dc transformer also failed. Cavaliere did not provide warranty support and wanted over 150 dollars to convert the lighting from 12vdc to 120vac. For 25 dollars, i the ripped out the transformer, replaced the FET and 12vdc lights/sockets to 120VAC lights/sockets. Did not have any trouble with unit and it is 2015. 2014, I bought a second identical unit and after 3 months I have lost number 2 speed control and plastic on filters warped. The installation is identical to the first....meaning stove is same, mounting height the same, using same pots and pans for this 2nd home. This second unit - the lighting was upgraded to use 120vac/ eliminating the transformer problem (cheaper to manufacture) and they changed the control panel. I called overstock and they told me to call cavaliere...pass the bux. I was pleasantly surprised this time because they honored the warranty and sending me a new controller board and new filters for shipping price of 10 dollars. If they keep up the customer support and fix the problems I will continue to buy it, but still I hate dealing with warranty items. The plastic is warping because they changed the plastic to be a lower temp plastic, replaced a thermoset plastic to thermoplastic, or there is an injection mold problem. They need to check in on their parts supplier. I use to go to china to fix all these problems prior to production, but now they just ship it out and let the consumer figure it out.....They saved production cost on eliminating the dc transformer, its a simple fix to follow up with the plastics material change or mold manufacturer, but it might cost them $ to rid the bad plastic parts. A purchasing or engineering mistake, Usually someone in purchasing finds a cheaper supplier without understanding the specs ......to save a couple of pennies,...

Hood is perfect - looks and function. However, make sure you have your contractor check where the "hole" in the wall should be. We wasted a day because they had to make another hole (higher than the previous hood).Read More
love therange hood. it looks very nice in my kitchenRead More
My sister and I both bought this range hood, and for this price point, we're both very happy with it. It looks great -- very high quality -- and fits in beautifully with both of our kitchens. The lights at the back are sufficient, though I can see why someone who needs a lot of light over the stove-top might want lights in the front. Not a problem for us. My only complaint -- and it's a small one -- is that it's not particularly quiet at the highest settings. Not deafening, but pretty loud. She and I both agree that it functions well, but with one caveat. She had her handyman built out a bump-out behind the hood, so that it would be flush with the front of the range. We think this has made a significant difference in it's effectiveness. While I think it does a very good job in my kitchen, I do try to cook greasy things on the back burners, as I think some greasy smoke may escape on the front ones. In her kitchen, there's no need. In any case, since she installed this hood, the amount of grime in her kitchen has decreased significantly. She is thrilled! I can't speak to that, since our house is new, and I have no comparison. (If you are installing this in a new home, be warned: Because it is a 900cfm hood, local code may require a venting system to make up for the air it sucks out of your house. For what that cost, I could have gotten a 400cfm vent-a-hood.) I gave the vent 4 stars because it's loud and because I'm not totally bowled over by it. Nevertheless, I would recommend to anyone looking for a good looking, easy to care for range hood at a good price.Read More
I installed this hood about a year and a half ago. It has worked very well for us. I am very happy we bought it. You need to use a stainless steel cleaner on it though, otherwise it gets a bit grungy.Read More
I replaced a different brand that we paid a LOT more for with this hood and it does such a great job! The more expensive model did not have near the suction power nor was it as quiet. We hired this out for installation and it did take two men a couple of hours but it is installed properly and works beautifully. I have a Viking 6 burner cook top and do a lot of searing (with the resulting smoke) and this hood handles it well. Very quiet, great lights...can't say enough good about it!Read More
i ordered this hood 6 months ago, beyond the O return policy. i never opened it because it went right to storage as we were awaiting needing it for our new house. i opened it yesterday, and it was the completely wrong hood. i ordered as shown the wall hood, but i got an island hood. i explained the scenario, COURTNEY, was awesome!~ she sent me the right one, and i returened the wrong one. i don't yet have it installed so I can not speak of the hood itself.Read More
This hood looks great and comes with a good price! After shopping other sites, this was the logical choice. Manufactured with quality stainless steel and I had no problem with shipping. The only "not" good thing I would say is that the lights on the front display are a bit blinding if you are looking directly at them. But I still highly recommend this product.Read More
When I was shopping for a range hood, this one stood out to me because of the price and the features. Overall, it's worth the money. Looks: It looks good on the wall. The steel doesn't seem cheap or flimsy. There aren't visible seams or any other form issue. The buttons and screen are just awful. They are intensely bright, and the screen is only viewable from a particular angle. At any other angle, it looks like 88:88:88. Fortunately, the screen is only on when the fan or light is on, so you aren't blinded by it unless you are actively staring at it while it's in use. Installation: There are two mounting holes, about 6in apart, at the top of the unit inside the chimney. They are pretty worthless. No one is going to have a stud right there if they are venting into wall ducting, and even if there was a stud there, it's only one. The mounting kit included with the hood has drywall anchors. Not going to cut it. Fortunately, it was pretty trivial to put some holes through the hood as the entire bottom is open once the filters are removed. I put 4 screws into 2 studs, and it's pretty solid, although still not immobile. Use: The thing moves some air; no doubt about it. I'm venting into the wall, 180deg turn down to the floor, 90 degree turn under the cabinets, venting along under the cabinet run to an exhaust outside. With the hood on high, the air coming out of the outside vent feels like a hand dryer. The halogen lights are all the way in the back of the hood. It lights the wall more than what I'm cooking. It's still sufficient, though. Overall, it's worth the money, and the worst part about the whole thing is the screen/button issue. Still the cost pushes me to give it 4-stars.. for the money, this is a lot of fan. I say "no" to recommendation because after searching around some more, I see that other models appear to fix at least some of these issues.Read More
I will recommend this product to my friends.Read More

How to Install a Range Hood
If your kitchen could use an update, installing a range hood is an effective way to change the look and feel of the entire room. A range hood is a great way to reduce cooking odors and excess heat from your kitchen. The range hood helps prevent grease build-up around your stove by pulling the vapors from cooking up into the hood and its filters. With a few tools and some planning, you can install a range hood yourself.

Spotting Scope Fact Sheet
Spotting scopes, sometimes referred to as monoculars, are small, telescope-like optics that began as tools used by the military. Today, they are widely used in the consumer market for hunting, bird watching, viewing ships, scoring shooting range targets and photography. Spotting scopes can mount on a common camera tripod and are quite suitable for daytime use. They provide more magnification than binoculars and are more portable than most telescopes.
Unique Faucet Designs
Sometimes it seems like faucets don't vary much. Ninety-five percent of the kitchen and bath faucets you see are basic sink-mounted, single-spout designs with one lever or two knobs. These vary in terms of finish and embellishment, but, essentially, these designs are all variations on a single theme. These kinds of faucets make great complements to a wide range of kitchen and bath decor. However, sometimes, you may want a faucet that's unique, that departs from the norm and becomes a centerpiece for or makes a specific statement about your kitchen or bath. Maybe you want a faucet that performs a specific function that the usual faucets do not. If you're looking for that kind of faucet, keep reading. We've compiled a list of four unique faucet designs, one of which may be just what you're looking for.
Best Fills for Down Comforters
Warm and incredibly soft, down comforters are the height of luxurious bedding. Like all other bedding, down comforters can range from inexpensive to costly. The proof is in the filling. Inexpensive down comforters are filled with a combination of down and polyester or down and feathers. The best down comforters, which are usually also the most expensive, are full of pure, thick down. Take a look below to learn the best fills for down comforters. Hungarian goose down: Hungarian goose down is considered the most luxurious type of down. These extreme cold-weather birds have very thick, almost odorless tufts of down at the base of their feathers. This heavy, long-lasting down is most often used in comforters with a fill rating of 800, which means they can keep a person warm even in cold conditions. Eiderdown: Eiderdown is harvested by hand from the abandoned nests of Eider ducks, which pluck the down from their own backs and use it to cover their eggs. Eider ducks live in cold climates, so their down is thick and heavy. It is used in high-quality comforters with a fill rating of between 700 and 800. Eider duck down is the only type of duck down used in high-quality comforters. All other duck down is usually considered too smelly (and some duck down has tiny barbs) and is used in much less expensive comforters. Grey and white goose down: Grey goose down is used in dark comforters due it its grey color, but it is the same as white goose down in all other ways. Grey and white goose down, which is usually harvested from European or Chinese geese, is the most popular type of down used in middle-price-range pure down comforters. These comforters usually have a fill rating of 600 and above. Hypodown: Hypodown is a mixture of white goose down and milkweed. This all-natural filling is hypoallergenic and much more durable than pure down comforters. While pure down is still considered to be the preferable fill for comforters by most people, hypodown is gaining popularity with consumers who want a longer lasting product without synthetic fills. Tips on Gas Range Installation
A gas range can add an element of style to any kitchen, as it just seems natural to cook over an open flame. The flames produced by gas ranges reach higher temperatures than electric ranges, resulting in faster cooking times and a more energy-efficient cooking surface. There are, however, a few things to consider when you're installing a gas range.
Tips on Gas Cooktops
Many kitchens feature gas ranges for cooking that combine both burners and an oven in one unit. Recently, separate gas cooktops have risen in popularity because they fit into a countertop while allowing storage cupboard space underneath. Gas cooktops are especially popular with chefs because they allow more precise control over temperature and cooking time.

Top 5 TV Mount Types
A great way to open up space in your home theater room or living room is to get rid of that bulky entertainment center and fix your flat panel TV to the wall with a television mount. TV mounts are great because they remove the need for a TV cabinet while anchoring your TV securely to the wall. If you're thinking about mounting your TV, consider the position and functionality you want your TV to have. Thinking about TV position can help you decide what type of TV wall mount you need. Here are the top five TV mounts you may want to use.
How to Wall Mount a Flat Panel TV
Mount your flat panel TV on a wall to save space and free up space taken by a TV stand. Flat panel TVs can be fitted flat against a wall or mounted so that you can adjust the angle of the television. Installing a wall mount is generally not difficult and can typically be done in about 30 minutes. Here are a few steps to help you install your own television mount.
How to Buy a Gas Range
Many chefs prefer cooking on a gas range because it offers more precise control of the heat for improved cooking ability. Even if you aren't a chef, you can benefit from the finesse and affordable cost of gas ranges and ovens. When you're shopping for a gas range, you'll need to consider your kitchen's access to a gas line along with how much space you have. Factors like size, display features and range amounts all need to be considered when buying a gas range.
Most Popular Types of Garden Fountains
Fountains add the relaxing sound of running water to any setting. Outdoor fountains allow water to spout, jet, pour or trickle into a basin before draining away. Fountains range in size from burbling rock gardens ideal for tabletops to large pieces of public art. If you live in an urban area or a busy apartment complex, you can use a fountain to create a sense of privacy by masking traffic and other noises. When choosing an outdoor fountain, first consider how much space you have. Many yards can accommodate large pedestal-style outdoor fountains while a smaller fountain will create a focal point in a petite flower garden. The longer the waterfall, the more noise it creates; consider volume when choosing your garden fountain.
How to Install a Built-in Microwave
Microwaves are a kitchen staple. They offer convenience, no residual heat from cooking and, when compared with an oven or range, efficiency. With so much going for them, it's no surprise microwaves are so popular. If there was ever a drawback to having a microwave oven in the kitchen, it was that the appliance claimed too much valuable countertop real estate. But ever since microwave ovens were made to be installed over the range, that dilemma has ceased to exist. Installing a built-in microwave is really not that difficult, but what many people don't realize is that they need a dedicated 20-amp circuit installed in the cabinet directly above the microwave oven for the installation to be up to code. If you're not comfortable running your own circuit, hire a qualified electrician for the job. Once you have the circuit installed, you can then install a built-in microwave.
How to Choose Winter Coats for Kids
Choosing winter coats for kids can be almost as difficult as getting your children to actually wear them. Make the process easier by shopping for girls' outerwear and boys' outerwear with your children. Here are the tips for choosing the best coats.
How to Install an Electric Oven Range
Whether you purchase an updated electric oven range to replace an older, worn-out model or to simply enhance the look of your kitchen, installing an electric oven range is a fairly simple task that you can complete in just a couple of hours. As long as you are just swapping a similar range and oven, there is no need to pay extra money for professional installation.
