We love it and it looks really nice. It vents the stove very nicely. It was a bit difficult to install. Would recommend you have it installed.Read More
Purchased this hood in Nov 2013 when remodeling our kitchen. The first one that arrived I had to return because the lights would turn on and flicker, then just turn off. However overstock was very good in customer service they actually sent out a new one and I received it before I even sent them back the defective one. The second one I received has worked good and its gonna be a year now. Lights are still working and the power of the fan is very powerful. It has 5 settings so you can find one that works for any situation. Overall for the price I think it was worth it.Read More
This product arrived very fast, was packaged very well. It looks good. Instructions leave a little to be desired. There are two halves of a flapper valve set up .. to keep the exhaust closed when the fan is not in use, there is no reference as to where these go. I emailed the customer service, they were very prompt, and supplied some photos. There is a wrench for unlocking the lighting bezels in the kit, don't lose it! I had to cut an inch and a quarter off of the chimney. I had to do this because my ceiling was not quite 8' in height, and I had the minimum height above the stove top. They do give you a chimney with an extension. Every installation will be different, this is just a heads up for first time DYI's This unit has 6 speeds, and is pretty quiet for the amount of air it moves. I think it could use two more lights at the front of the unit, in addition to the lights at the back of the unit, but it does OK. The control buttons are soft touch buttons, they can be a little finicky to work, but you get used to how to touch them with the right pressure. I'm happy with this unit.Read More
After reading so many negative reviews...I had to think about what I wanted to do. For the price I could not ask for better. this piece is the crowning affect in my NEW Kitchen make-over. Cabinets, hardware very expensive, pretty...but the HOOD adds the touch of elegance. The lights do not hav to stay dim...directions explain how to change....Also like you can use lights alone...does not have to be when fan is on. Fan is not loud....unless on larger numbers.. Overall we love it and receive compliments and we're not donw yet.Read More
Been using it about our gas range for about 4 months now. Had it installed so can't comment on that, but it looks fantastic and it is highly functional. The blue lights and display add a level of coolness. Noise is fine, and I really like the powerful lights. Excellent purchase. Highly recommend.Read More
This is a beautiful hood! I am so pleased with its appearance. The instructions for installation were a little obscure, but once I had a good look, everything made sense. It is a fantastic value. I was looking at other retailers and they were charging nearly twice the price for something similar.Read More
I bought this hood in Nov '07 for a seasonal house. Gave it 5 stars... changing that to 1! Loved everything about it until the lights failed. it burned out 2 bulbs almost immediately, which I figured was from shipping. No Problem. Then this year the lights began flashing and just went out.. not the bulbs this time. Went on line to mfg and they are no longer in business. went to consumer site and this is a problem with this hood. Now I'm trying to find a comparable transformer to see if tat might be the problem. But I'm going to have to solder new connectors, etc... What a pain! Not worth it.Read More
After less than two years, the dual MR16 lights stopped working. I sent an email to tech support at the company, and they advised I bypass the 110V-12V transformer, and install GU10 bulbs instead (running the lights at 110V instead of 12V). They even sent me pictures showing what needed to be done, and offered to sell me their very own $50 kit, which made it all plug and play (and convenient). Before ordering anything, I looked over the unit a bit more. No power in or out of the 12V transformer. I looked over the circuit board, and found a blown 5x20 glass fuse hidden on the main circuit board. I had to pull a wire off the board to gain access, which was secured with a crimped-on female push-on terminal. When I tried pulling the terminal off the board, the entire male end that was soldered to the board pulled out along with it! I pushed it back in enough to make contact, but this connection is not solid, and cannot be trusted. Moving on, I replaced the fuse, and there is power into the transformer now, but nothing out. Obviously a blown transformer, but still wondering why the fuse blew. Having much DIY electrical experience with homes, boats, and cars, I knew I could easily re-wire these lights without buying a silly $50.00 kit. It's a two hot and neutral wires split to two light bulbs, not a NASA space shuttle for God's sake. After the re-wire, the lights work, but do not turn off. They are always on regardless of button position. Now the company is telling me I need a new circuit board (conveniently, again a $50 cost), and apparently they claim their units do not have a fuse on the board at all (even after I sent them pictures of mine). They also recommended I solder the male terminal that pulled out back to the board. They also had no explanation as to how the "mystery fuse" and board blew, and just blamed me for rewiring the lights without using their kit (typical). I'm guessing when the transformer shorted, the fuse did not blow fast enough to protect the board from damage. They refuse to acknowledge that, and will not cover any parts under good will, and will not even discount anything. They seem to believe 2-years of use is a long time. Also, to make matters worse, because I had the grills off, my wife decides to wash them in the dishwasher, since the RangeHoodsInc website says they are dishwasher safe. They came out looking horrendous! They are severely discolored, with white powdery spots and dark blotches and a very uneven tone all around. They blamed this on phosphate-free dishwasher soap! I clean a lot of metal in my dishwasher and have NEVER seen this before. And these are $60 to replace! No where on their website does it state to use a certain type of soap in the dishwasher. On the range hood product page, it says they are dishwasher safe not once, but TWICE! What a great way to treat a customer, especially for a 5-year young company, and a 2-year old $500 product! Anyway, just wanted to share my experience to those shopping for a new range hood. Go for something better quality, and with real customer support.Read More
This is a beautiful vent and well worth the money. Had priced many before buying this one and nothing compared for style and price, many were priced twice as much. The exhaust is more powerful than any we had looked at. So glad we purchased it and when friends and family see it, everyone can't believe that it was from Overstock.!Read More
We bought this Range Hood to replace an under the cabinet microwave, which provided almost no vent capability. We had a contractor put in the hood, he ripped out the existing cabinet and installed this. He was quite impressed with the build of the hood. The stainless chimney part is quite solid, but is just a cover over the flexible cylindrical dryer vent like aluminum hose. The chimney portion meets the needs for up to 9 ft ceilings...In our case the ceiling was 10FT and we had to buy an extension kit for another $125 (that was from a different company not from overstock.com). End result looks very cool and stylish. Performance wise... the vent is very powerful 900CFM in 6 or so steps... we rarely have to use it above level 4. It is loud at the highest setting... that is from the volume and speed with which the air being sucked up...not the motor itself which is quite (much along the lines of a/c vents in your car...). The lights are halogen and provides good illumination. the buttons are touch sensitive... it takes a bit to stop the habit of pushing on the button I would strongly recommend this over other brands.Read More
Questions & Answers
Hello dukehoops, this hood has a stainless steel finish. Thanks for shopping with us! l.b.
My buttons on the front are not working! Lights or any thing! Where can I order parts?
Hello ladybug0052, thank you for your inquiry; you will be contacted by Customer Care.
You need to contact the manufacturer to get new parts.
I'm not sure if this helps, but I noticed with mine, the buttons are very sensitive to pressure. I was hitting them with a little more than medium pressure .. but a friend pointed out, that they are pressure sensitive, just a light touch to activate fan and lights ... etc ....
Is this outdoor rated?
Hello laylatexas1 , We appreciate your inquiry. This is rated only for indoors. We hope you have found this information helpful. Thank you for shopping with us.
can this unit be used as a wall or island mount
This can only be used as an island or peninsula.
WRONG. Thsi is a wall mount hood. The 'wm' at the end of the model number indicates that this is so. I also checked it out on the Cavaliere website.
I apologies for the inaccurate response, after researching this I found the hood is designed as a wall mount.
is there an extension kit I can buy for the duct? My ceilings are 11' not 9'
You can purchase a chimney extension kit, but the kit only reaches 10 feet high.
Is there a non duct kit I can purchase with this hood?
Unfortunately at this time there is not.

How to Measure and Install a Range Hood
A range hood can remove smoke and odors from your kitchen while adding beauty to your home. When it is time to update your kitchen with a new range hood, you can learn how to install a new range hood with some time and a few handy tools. You may need some help lifting the range hood while attaching it to the wall. You might also need a licensed electrician to make electrical connections to the light and fan.
How to Install a Range Hood
If your kitchen could use an update, installing a range hood is an effective way to change the look and feel of the entire room. A range hood is a great way to reduce cooking odors and excess heat from your kitchen. The range hood helps prevent grease build-up around your stove by pulling the vapors from cooking up into the hood and its filters. When you're looking at range hoods, the most significant choice is between a range hood vent that vents to the outside or an under cabinet range hood that simply pulls the air through a filter. With a few tools and some planning, you can install a range hood yourself.
Tips on Choosing a Matching Range Hood
Designed to dissipate the smoke and odors that cooking on a stovetop produces, range hoods are essential kitchen appliances. Here are a few tips on finding a range hood that will fit your kitchen and give it an updated feel.
How to Wall Mount a Flat Panel TV
Mount your flat panel TV on a wall to save space and free up space taken by a TV stand. Flat panel TVs can be fitted flat against a wall or mounted so that you can adjust the angle of the television. Installing a wall mount is generally not difficult and can typically be done in about 30 minutes. Here are a few steps to help you install your own television mount.
Area Rug Buying Guide
Rugs come in sizes ranging from small welcome mats to room-size area rugs of 13 feet by 17 feet and larger. There are even larger wall-to-wall oversize rugs, measuring 26 feet by 37 feet or larger. If none of the pre-made area rug sizes fit your needs, custom rugs are a possibility; you can have the perfect rug no matter what size and shape you want.
Spotting Scope Fact Sheet
Spotting scopes, sometimes referred to as monoculars, are small, telescope-like optics that began as tools used by the military. Today, they are widely used in the consumer market for hunting, bird watching, viewing ships, scoring shooting range targets and photography. Spotting scopes can mount on a common camera tripod and are quite suitable for daytime use. They provide more magnification than binoculars and are more portable than most telescopes.
Unique Faucet Designs
Sometimes it seems like faucets don't vary much. Ninety-five percent of the kitchen and bath faucets you see are basic sink-mounted, single-spout designs with one lever or two knobs. These vary in terms of finish and embellishment, but, essentially, these designs are all variations on a single theme. These kinds of faucets make great complements to a wide range of kitchen and bath decor. However, sometimes, you may want a faucet that's unique, that departs from the norm and becomes a centerpiece for or makes a specific statement about your kitchen or bath. Maybe you want a faucet that performs a specific function that the usual faucets do not. If you're looking for that kind of faucet, keep reading. We've compiled a list of four unique faucet designs, one of which may be just what you're looking for.
Best Fills for Down Comforters
Warm and incredibly soft, down comforters are the height of luxurious bedding. Like all other bedding, down comforters can range from inexpensive to costly. The proof is in the filling. Inexpensive down comforters are filled with a combination of down and polyester or down and feathers. The best down comforters, which are usually also the most expensive, are full of pure, thick down. Take a look below to learn the best fills for down comforters. Hungarian goose down: Hungarian goose down is considered the most luxurious type of down. These extreme cold-weather birds have very thick, almost odorless tufts of down at the base of their feathers. This heavy, long-lasting down is most often used in comforters with a fill rating of 800, which means they can keep a person warm even in cold conditions. Eiderdown: Eiderdown is harvested by hand from the abandoned nests of Eider ducks, which pluck the down from their own backs and use it to cover their eggs. Eider ducks live in cold climates, so their down is thick and heavy. It is used in high-quality comforters with a fill rating of between 700 and 800. Eider duck down is the only type of duck down used in high-quality comforters. All other duck down is usually considered too smelly (and some duck down has tiny barbs) and is used in much less expensive comforters. Grey and white goose down: Grey goose down is used in dark comforters due it its grey color, but it is the same as white goose down in all other ways. Grey and white goose down, which is usually harvested from European or Chinese geese, is the most popular type of down used in middle-price-range pure down comforters. These comforters usually have a fill rating of 600 and above. Hypodown: Hypodown is a mixture of white goose down and milkweed. This all-natural filling is hypoallergenic and much more durable than pure down comforters. While pure down is still considered to be the preferable fill for comforters by most people, hypodown is gaining popularity with consumers who want a longer lasting product without synthetic fills. LCD TVs vs Plasma TVs
Flat-screen TVs seem to be everywhere. For you, the choice may seem like a toss-up between plasma TVs and LCD TVs. These competing technologies each have advantages, so it's important to consider your specific needs before purchasing a flat-screen TV. If you are highly knowledgeable, you may want to consider the more technical specifications of LCD and plasma TVs. This is a fast-moving technology, so the advantages of each technology may soon even out with one another. Until then, here are some facts that may help you with the choice between plasma and LCD TV technology. Price differences. While price is important, it doesn't tell the whole story when comparing LCD and plasma. In the past, plasma TVs were slightly less expensive than LCD TVs of the same size, and the price differential became greater as the size of the television increased. The gap in price has narrowed between flat-screen technologies, though. Price is probably the least important factor, especially since you can find good deals on both plasma TVs and LCD TVs. Use. How you use your TV matters. Plasma TV screens are prone to "burn-in," a problem in which still or static images can be more or less permanently imprinted on the screen. This is of particular concern if you play video games, which tend to display static images for long periods of time in the same location on the screen. Fortunately, newer plasma TVs are less vulnerable to burn-in. If you plan to use your flat-screen TV for video games or other static images, LCD TVs may be a better choice. Environmental considerations. LCD TVs use an average of one-third to one-half as much energy as a plasma TV of the same size. The difference comes from the different lighting technologies. If you are concerned about your energy consumption, LCD is a greener choice. As technology improves, plasma TVs may improve their energy consumption. Lifespan. When early models of LCD TVs and plasma TVs were compared, LCD had the longer lifespan. But plasma technology has improved, and plasmas now boast a lifespan equal to LCDs. Most flat-screen TVs claim around a 60,000-hour lifespan. Depending on your usage, this means your flat-screen TV should last 20 years or more. The only parts of an LCD TV that wear out are the bulbs that illuminate the LCD screen. On a plasma TV, the bulbs will also go out before the screen does. Size and weight. LCD TVs are typically much lighter and less bulky than plasma TVs of the same size. Plasma TVs use glass for their screens, which is heavier and more fragile than the plastic used for LCD TVs. When mounting a large flat-screen TV on a wall, use a flat-screen TV mount and be sure that the wall can support your TV's weight. Picture. Both LCD TVs and plasma TVs produce amazing high-definition picture quality. Plasma TVs typically display blacks more clearly and show crisper detail during fast-moving programming, like sporting events. LCD TV technology is catching up, though, and LCD TVS usually offer greater native screen resolution than plasma TVs. This means more pixels per square inch, for a sharper overall picture. LCD TVs can lose picture quality when viewed at an angle. Some models do better than others on this, so be sure to do your research on any LCD TV's viewing angles. Tips on Gas Range Installation
A gas range can add an element of style to any kitchen, as it just seems natural to cook over an open flame. The flames produced by gas ranges reach higher temperatures than electric ranges, resulting in faster cooking times and a more energy-efficient cooking surface. There are, however, a few things to consider when you're installing a gas range.
Tips on Gas Cooktops
Many kitchens feature gas ranges for cooking that combine both burners and an oven in one unit. Recently, separate gas cooktops have risen in popularity because they fit into a countertop while allowing storage cupboard space underneath. Gas cooktops are especially popular with chefs because they allow more precise control over temperature and cooking time.

Top 5 TV Mount Types
A great way to open up space in your home theater room or living room is to get rid of that bulky entertainment center and fix your flat panel TV to the wall with a television mount. TV mounts are great because they remove the need for a TV cabinet while anchoring your TV securely to the wall. If you're thinking about mounting your TV, consider the position and functionality you want your TV to have. Thinking about TV position can help you decide what type of TV wall mount you need. Here are the top five TV mounts you may want to use.
How to Buy a Gas Range
Many chefs prefer cooking on a gas range because it offers more precise control of the heat for improved cooking ability. Even if you aren't a chef, you can benefit from the finesse and affordable cost of gas ranges and ovens. When you're shopping for a gas range, you'll need to consider your kitchen's access to a gas line along with how much space you have. Factors like size, display features and range amounts all need to be considered when buying a gas range.
Tips for Choosing a Kitchen Range
If you're in the market for a new kitchen range, you'll find a wide number of ranges and ovens. Whether you want a gourmet stove with eight burners or an apartment-size kitchen range, a few basic tips will help make your purchase easier. When selecting a kitchen range, your home's energy source, the available space and your budget are the main considerations. Here are a few tips to help you get started looking for a new range for your kitchen.
Most Popular Types of Garden Fountains
Fountains add the relaxing sound of running water to any setting. Outdoor fountains allow water to spout, jet, pour or trickle into a basin before draining away. Fountains range in size from burbling rock gardens ideal for tabletops to large pieces of public art. If you live in an urban area or a busy apartment complex, you can use a fountain to create a sense of privacy by masking traffic and other noises. When choosing an outdoor fountain, first consider how much space you have. Many yards can accommodate large pedestal-style outdoor fountains while a smaller fountain will create a focal point in a petite flower garden. The longer the waterfall, the more noise it creates; consider volume when choosing your garden fountain.
How to Install a Built-in Microwave
Microwaves are a kitchen staple. They offer convenience, no residual heat from cooking and, when compared with an oven or range, efficiency. With so much going for them, it's no surprise microwaves are so popular. If there was ever a drawback to having a microwave oven in the kitchen, it was that the appliance claimed too much valuable countertop real estate. But ever since microwave ovens were made to be installed over the range, that dilemma has ceased to exist. Installing a built-in microwave is really not that difficult, but what many people don't realize is that they need a dedicated 20-amp circuit installed in the cabinet directly above the microwave oven for the installation to be up to code. If you're not comfortable running your own circuit, hire a qualified electrician for the job. Once you have the circuit installed, you can then install a built-in microwave.
How to Choose Winter Coats for Kids
Choosing winter coats for kids can be almost as difficult as getting your children to actually wear them. Make the process easier by shopping for girls' outerwear and boys' outerwear with your children. Here are the tips for choosing the best coats.
How to Install an Electric Oven Range
Whether you purchase an updated electric oven range to replace an older, worn-out model or to simply enhance the look of your kitchen, installing an electric oven range is a fairly simple task that you can complete in just a couple of hours. As long as you are just swapping a similar range and oven, there is no need to pay extra money for professional installation.
