This is a very nice looking hood. Its fairly quiet and does a good job for the price. It was a challenging install according to my contractor but worth it. Would definitely recommend it.Read More
It would have been a better fit for our kitchen if the height of the hood had been somewhat adjustable. Upon installation, the bottom edge of the hood hits my husband's head as he stands at the stove to cook.Read More
Pro-good quality, works very well. Cons- not as pictured, terrible installation instructions, even for a contractor.Read More
I just had my kitchen remodeled, and my contractor installed this range hood. He said it was a great buy for the price. It looks great, runs quietly and efficiently, and provides great light on my stove. Only a light touch is needed to turn on the fan or the lights. The only negative is that some screws provided in the package were too short, and in the middle of the installation, the contractor had to make a run to the hardware store to purchase the correct ones.Read More
We just got the hood installed a couple of weeks ago and are really pleased with the way it looks. I did a lot of research. This was the very best rated product available, especially for the price. I have friends with more expensive hoods from Lowes and those do not have as many features as this one. We did have to cut open the ceiling and build a frame between the joists. Also it took making a scaffold between two ladders for my husband to kneel on to get in screwed in correctly. Four people were required really. It looks great and I hope it last for years.Read More
The wife and I are remodeling the kitchen. My wife spent hours on the Internet conducting research into an island hood. The product looks and runs great! Everyone who enters the kitchen comments on how nice the hood looks. It also has duel controls, so the hood fan/lights can be operated from either side of the island. The installation instructions are a little behind the product, as they indicate to leave a live wire hanging down through the ceiling for hard wiring to the hood, however they provide a plug which is already pre-wired to the hood. SImply install a wall plug/outlet within the confines of the brace area and your good to go. When installing the product, you will definitely need three people as instructed, or you can do what I did. I built a make shift wood platform, placed it approximately 6 inches below where the hood would be permnently installed and lifted it up to the brace, while having my wife install the screws. (Two Person Operation with a stand.) Nice product, We highly recommend it!Read More
I love this product. We've been remodeling a beach-front home giving it a "Cape Cod" look with up-to-date styling. We wanted something that would be on the modern side, look expensive, but not be over-the-top for a cape-style home. The styling of this product is perfect. It's "understated" so it doesn't take over our open kitchen design, but the stainless and styling are beautiful so it fits with the upscale look we've been going for. It has controls on both sides, which I've found handy. Functionally, it works great. We had the motor put in the attic to keep it quiet. It has 6 settings and settings 1-3 (the ones we use the most) are very quiet. Settings 4 - 6 do make noise but only 6 is really noisy and that I can live with since I only use it if I've burned something. I love this product!Read More

We purchased this fan in 2010 and are very satisfied with it. However, there was no instruction booklet describing how to use the timer. I've tried to figure it out with no success. Is it possible to have the instructions (even for just the timer?) emailed to us or snail mailed? Thanks!

How to Measure and Install a Range Hood
A range hood can remove smoke and odors from your kitchen while adding beauty to your home. When it is time to update your kitchen with a new range hood, you can learn how to install a new range hood with some time and a few handy tools. You may need some help lifting the range hood while attaching it to the wall. You might also need a licensed electrician to make electrical connections to the light and fan.
How to Install a Range Hood
If your kitchen could use an update, installing a range hood is an effective way to change the look and feel of the entire room. A range hood is a great way to reduce cooking odors and excess heat from your kitchen. The range hood helps prevent grease build-up around your stove by pulling the vapors from cooking up into the hood and its filters. When you're looking at range hoods, the most significant choice is between a range hood vent that vents to the outside or an under cabinet range hood that simply pulls the air through a filter. With a few tools and some planning, you can install a range hood yourself.
Tips on Choosing a Matching Range Hood
Designed to dissipate the smoke and odors that cooking on a stovetop produces, range hoods are essential kitchen appliances. Here are a few tips on finding a range hood that will fit your kitchen and give it an updated feel.
Top 5 Types of Cooktops
A cooktop is one of the most frequently used and essential appliances in the kitchen. Different from traditional stoves, cooktops are independent cooking devices, separate from traditional ranges and ovens. Cooktops can be installed into kitchen islands or over built-in ovens -- anywhere there's space and power available to do so -- and are designed to integrate into kitchen countertops for a contemporary look.
Spotting Scope Fact Sheet
Spotting scopes, sometimes referred to as monoculars, are small, telescope-like optics that began as tools used by the military. Today, they are widely used in the consumer market for hunting, bird watching, viewing ships, scoring shooting range targets and photography. Spotting scopes can mount on a common camera tripod and are quite suitable for daytime use. They provide more magnification than binoculars and are more portable than most telescopes.
Unique Faucet Designs
Sometimes it seems like faucets don't vary much. Ninety-five percent of the kitchen and bath faucets you see are basic sink-mounted, single-spout designs with one lever or two knobs. These vary in terms of finish and embellishment, but, essentially, these designs are all variations on a single theme. These kinds of faucets make great complements to a wide range of kitchen and bath decor. However, sometimes, you may want a faucet that's unique, that departs from the norm and becomes a centerpiece for or makes a specific statement about your kitchen or bath. Maybe you want a faucet that performs a specific function that the usual faucets do not. If you're looking for that kind of faucet, keep reading. We've compiled a list of four unique faucet designs, one of which may be just what you're looking for.
Best Fills for Down Comforters
Warm and incredibly soft, down comforters are the height of luxurious bedding. Like all other bedding, down comforters can range from inexpensive to costly. The proof is in the filling. Inexpensive down comforters are filled with a combination of down and polyester or down and feathers. The best down comforters, which are usually also the most expensive, are full of pure, thick down. Take a look below to learn the best fills for down comforters. Hungarian goose down: Hungarian goose down is considered the most luxurious type of down. These extreme cold-weather birds have very thick, almost odorless tufts of down at the base of their feathers. This heavy, long-lasting down is most often used in comforters with a fill rating of 800, which means they can keep a person warm even in cold conditions. Eiderdown: Eiderdown is harvested by hand from the abandoned nests of Eider ducks, which pluck the down from their own backs and use it to cover their eggs. Eider ducks live in cold climates, so their down is thick and heavy. It is used in high-quality comforters with a fill rating of between 700 and 800. Eider duck down is the only type of duck down used in high-quality comforters. All other duck down is usually considered too smelly (and some duck down has tiny barbs) and is used in much less expensive comforters. Grey and white goose down: Grey goose down is used in dark comforters due it its grey color, but it is the same as white goose down in all other ways. Grey and white goose down, which is usually harvested from European or Chinese geese, is the most popular type of down used in middle-price-range pure down comforters. These comforters usually have a fill rating of 600 and above. Hypodown: Hypodown is a mixture of white goose down and milkweed. This all-natural filling is hypoallergenic and much more durable than pure down comforters. While pure down is still considered to be the preferable fill for comforters by most people, hypodown is gaining popularity with consumers who want a longer lasting product without synthetic fills.
