I've slept on this bed for three nights, now. I couldn't be happier with it. It looks great, feels solid, and came in excellent condition. I also purchased the 10-inch Memory Foam mattress from Overstock, and this frame is perfect for it. I was a little worried, since I don't have a box spring, and I couldn't tell from the photos or description what type of platform there would be. Rest assured, there are three sturdy wire mesh shelves that cover the entire area of the bed to support any mattress, even something as flexible as Memory Foam.
My only complaint is with the directions, which weren't horrible, but did lack some clarity. I'd have had the bed together three times faster if the directions had explained the difference between the two rails that run along the sides. First I put them on upside-down, and once I flipped them over and put the rest of it together, I discovered that they were also on the wrong sides of the bed. The first mistake was my fault for not examining the two pieces more closely, but the second I don't think was avoidable, even with further examination, as the directions completely lack a detailed picture of these pieces.
If you purchase this bed, which I suggest you do if you like what you see, take note that the side rails have three holes into which the wire mesh platform shelves are to be placed. Be sure that the end with the group of two is at the head of the bed, and be sure that the ledge which protrudes from these rails is on the bottom, so that it lines up with the edge that protrudes from the foot board. Everything else should be clear from the diagrams.
Also, the bed comes with the only tool you'll need: a small Allen wrench. Don't hesitate to buy this bed; you won't be disappointed.
I'm a Medical Student in my mid-20's and I use this Platform Bed with a Memory Foam Mattress I purchased from Overstock as well. The platform bed was incredibly easy to put together, even without much need for instructions, although it was helpful to have a friend at hand to simultaneously fit both sides of the headboard into the frame's headpoles. That said, the bed puts up with all my beatings - huge books and heavy bookbags thrown down on the mattress, riotous laughter and agitated movement during video game battles with friends, and for those wondering if it creaks in certain, wink-wink, "situations", it holds up like a champ. It's not the fanciest bed out there, but in a practical way, I very much love its simple industrial design with its modern take on Gothic arches. I am incredibly happy with my purchase and would recommend it to any young professional. It is also very easy to take apart. FYI.
I love this bed. It's my first platform bed so I wasn't sure what to expect. It was very easy to put together. I've had this bed for a few months and have some "issues". If you have hardwood floors, expect this bed to move in certain "situations". The legs haven't scratched my floors (the covers are working well), but I'm going to try an area rug to see if this helps the problem. This is the first bed I've had in this room that I've had move so much. Also, it is creaking some, but I'm going to tighten down the screws again to see if that helps. One last thing - it was much lower to the ground than I expected. All in all, I do really love this bed.
I love my bed frame. But highly recommend two people to put the bed together. The instructions are not that hard to do as long as you read and look at the pictures to figure out how the screws and bolts go together. The frame is sturdy and doesn't move around. I would recommend this to anyone.

Overall I am pleased with this bed. It is attractive, just as pictured, sturdy construction. I have a 9" memory foam mattress, and it fits nicely. The footboard comes 2" above the top of the mattress and the headboard about 16" above the top. I put it together without help fairly quickly after I resolved one big issue. I would give this 4 or even 5 stars for design and sturdiness; my 3 star rating is because it arrived damaged. There were gashes in the finish on the headboard (which I faced against the wall) and a small one on the footboard. Rather than ask for a replacement, I asked for a credit back to my card, and was obliged. I don't accept that just because something is inexpensive, I should accept damaged goods. After reading the reviews for assembly tips, I noticed that many others also received theirs with gashes in the finish, so apparently, the finish is not applied in a healthy way. All in all, it looks good, feels good, and the cosmetic issues can be taken care of.
Regarding assembly: the leg extenders for the headboard must be put in so that the holes for the side rails are perfectly facing out. The instructions don't warn you of this, and if you are like me, you will pop them in and then start to add the rails, only to realize that the holes are all wonky. They are impossible to twist to adjust and nearly impossible to remove, but after a lot of sweat and cursing, I got them back out and realigned. Two tips: Affix the rails to the footboard first. Those hole are in a fixed state. Put in the headboard legs, but only part way, then line up the rails before tapping firmly into place. Also, I used a 35# tub of cat litter on its side to hold the rails up in the middle so that I could get them positioned and tightened in place. It was the perfect height and replaced a second pair of hands needed to keep the rails parallel while installing. Also, if you have a small "grip" wrench, it will be helpful in tightening the screws. The tool kit only contains an allen wrench.
This is my first time buying a platform bed and its much better quality than I expected. I have had other metal bed frames before, but none with such a nice shiny finish, or that felt so sturdy. Putting it together was pretty easy, but have someone around to help you. After its together, the bed isn't wobbly or have any give when you pull or push. The metal seems a little thicker than your average metal bed. I'm super happy with my order, and at such an awesome price!
While I like the way this bed looks, it really doesn't seem to be incredibly sturdy. We had no problems putting it together. The main issue I have is there are little support legs in the middle of the bed that easily bend and don't offer much support to the bed. They are held in by screws sticking out and I think one of the legs have already broke off. That being said, it's an inexpensive bed and we've kept it. I guess I like it overall, but you definitely get what you pay for with this.
The photo does not show one of those unsightly center support posts at the foot of the bed. Is this accurate? I don't want to use a bedskirt, and I don't want that support showing at the foot of the bed.sunnyann on Jan 31, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
I honestly don't remember. It may...I think that when I had this bed I didn't use it and it was fine. I know there is one in the middle.smalleredplace on Feb 7, 2014

I would beg to disagree with CustomerCare. I own this bed myself, and it is not really a black. It is a very dark brass color. I would call it a metallic dark chocolate color. Don't get the impression it's totally obsidian black though. It's def not.algorhythmik1 on Sep 13, 2013

It's impossible to tell by the photo or description whether a center support had floor brace - important when considering what will (and won't) slide under the bed. Can you please research and let us know? on Jun 20, 2012Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
There are 2 metal poles that hit the floor - so yes, there is center support.jmills124 on Jun 12, 2013
Please describe the support system - wood slats, steel beams, metal mesh? Any problems with the support components during use (eg., slats falling)? Any special hints to correct any potential problem? Thanks.blublood on Apr 21, 2012Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
This product has a durable metal mesh support system that should not present any problems during use.overstockcustomercare1 on Apr 24, 2012
The mesh support system is going to act like a wood slat system, but will be metal. It is very sturdy and does not require this bed to have a box spring.overstockcustomercare1 on Apr 26, 2012
I actually experienced a problem with the mesh warping a bit on my bed, so that it doesn't sit flat. It means sometimes when you move, the mesh moves a bit too. But it's tolerable. I'm a college student and don't really need incunabile type furniture that I'll hand down over generations.algorhythmik1 on Sep 13, 2013
How much space (height) from the floor to the bottom of the bed? I'm looking at how much storage I would actually have.ippolitius on Mar 13, 2012Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
The dimensions from the floor to the platform is 12". The clearance of the platform to the floor however is 11" and the clearance under the side rail is 10.5". So if you are just wanting to slide something under the side rail, without lifting the bed up, it would have to be less than 10.5 inches. If you lifted up the bed to slide something in, there is actually 11" of clearance once you get it past the side rail.overstockcustomercare1 on Mar 14, 2012
