The bed is exactly the style I was looking for in a low profile bed. However, the color is much darker than it appears online. Further, I had spoken with the online assistant re the slats to find out if the bed required a boxspring. I was informed that it did not because of the slat construction. That was incorrect. However, since I'm somewhat handy, with a short trip to the hardware store and 11 douglas fir boards later , now I don't need to use a box spring with my bed . Therefore, the bed ended up costing me an additional 50 bucks, but it was still worth it!

Nice bed. easy to follow instructions. I don't think the item description mentions leather. So please be aware of that. I am very happy with this product.

I received the bed without the necessary components/hardware to put it together. I had to wait over a week before the hardware was shipped to me. The base of the bed is too big for a standard queen mattress and box spring so I have gaping spaces which causes the mattress to tilt.

If you buy this bed, you HAVE TO USE A BOX SPRING. I have a Memory Foam Queen Mattress & wanted to use it without the Box Spring.But my pillow ( & my head) would go between the mattress & the bottom of the Headboard.OUCH! So my husband had to almost remake the bed in order for me to use it like I wanted to.Also as others have said be preparred to BUY more slats,& even the ones they have are so flimsy one broke the 1st time I layed on the bed.The bed Headboard also looks sort of cheapy & the wood is as lite as a feather so the bed can easily move around.I WOULD NEVER BUY THIS BED AGAIN.

Good buy for the price. Durable looking hardwood with veneers (the rails could've been thicker than 0.75 in., but then I'd expect to pay $1,000 to $1,500 for it). Decent quality buffalo leather (the box said it was buffalo, I didn't ascertain this on my own, lol:-)...), which is a bit tougher than calfskin or lambskin, but then again it's a headboard, not a jacket so I guess that's to be expected. The leather is black, as described, and covers about 2 inches of firm cushioning; the back of the headboard is wood panel. It was easy for me to assemble with the tools provided and a helper holding the rails while I drove in the screws. My 16 inch mattress set [ including the 5 inch (low-profile) boxspring] comes up to about 2 inches above where the wood of the headboard begins (almost at the leather...about an inch below the leather). Of course you need a boxspring, as it is a low profile bed, meaning that the footboard is low so you can sit at the edge of the bed or stick your feet off the edge of your mattress when sleeping, not a platform bed, which would have a platform for your mattress and not require a boxspring. One could probably turn it into a platform bed with some lumber from a homestore or wooden slats, as the wooden lip of the rail is about 1.25 in. wide.However, if the mattress is not tall enough, then it will not reach the headboard and there would be a space between them. My only disappointment was the color. From the picture and merlot description, I was expecting a cherry or mahogany (reddish brown), however, the color is more of an espresso (dark brown). This bed was purchased for my teenage daughter. The product arrived promptly and was easy to assemble. It looks just like the picture. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Excellent look !!!!!!!! I would recommend this bed if you have a room that you don't want so formal, this look is very rich in color you dress it up or down with the bedding of choice.
