I am a person with rather eclectic tastes, and being an artist and writer, I like my surroundings to be inspirational and reflect my personality. This is the BEST price ANYWHERE for this set and they are genuine durable stonewware, but I would not take a chance with the microwave (just me), as ALL ceramic glazes have metallic compounds in them and would not want to damage these unique place settings. it is also nice to know that one can add to their set incrementally via overstock, as they have the seperate items in sets of four for same as well. I have moved to a new city (Columbus, OH) and have virtually furnished most of my apartment via O.S., saving SO much money, and in today's economy, every penny counts! Buy these plates if you have any doubt at all, and feel free to read my other reviews. Peace and make your vote count!

Just O.K. I guess. Probably was like others expecting the blue color to stand out more than it does. Had no broken pieces, which was nice.

My wife really like this set. I got it as a surprise for her, and was worried they would break in transit. No defects however, and the set looks great.

these are cool dishes, but I ended up returning them for the cream color since the blue color was more turquoise and clashed with my kitchen.

These were gorgeous, heavy, quality pieces but several of them chipped pretty quickly. I would say it's because they are so heavy that when they bang together, it damages them (and it's hard not to bang them together when you take them out of the dishwasher, etc.) And they get ultra hot in the microwave, which is a bummer. Nonetheless, I love them.

This is the most that I've ever paid for a set of dishes; however, I'm moving to a new home & wanted something very nice for the table setting. The decision to make this purchases was perfect! I love this set!!!!!!!!!!

These dishes are SUPER heavy, which makes them not practical at all. They microwave extremely poorly, in that, they get SUPER hot, and your food is still cold. They are a nightmare to try and fit in the dishwasher, and they break really easily. The first week I had them, 4 of them chipped just by stacking them in the cabinet. MAJOR regrettable purchase.

One item in the set was broken and because of this the whole set of plates had to be returned which cost time and money especially as they were being delivered to the UK. The products were not packaged very well either- there was no real cushioning between each plate/bowl so it was no surprise that something this delicate arrived broken.

This set of dishes is so nice that I ordered another set 2 days later. The colors are beautiful and the plates seem very well made . None have chipped so far. I am now looking for a few extra plates and bowls separately to add to the collection. Three dishes were either chipped or broken in the first set that arrived. Overstock was great to deal with. They replaced all three quickly. My only complaint is that the blue color varies-some are a brilliant darker blue and others are a more washed out light blue. The darker is prettier. Still, I would definitely recommend these dishes.

They are even prettier in person than online. The only difficult thing is the square design of the cup. It makes it hard to mix sugar into coffee without being noise but all in all that is no big deal. They are sooooo pretty and clean easier than I thought they would. I liked them so much that I ordered a 2nd set so that I could have a 8 piece of everything instead of 4.

I have two sets of these plates, and I absolutely love them. They are gorgeous and durable. Keep in mind that I NEVER set my dishwasher to heated dry as it can sometimes weaken plates like these, plus it is a waste of energy for the most part. The small plates are great for a nice serving size and I never use the larger ones for anything other than serving because they are so huge. You'd have to be a behemoth to eat out of one of those. The bowls are also a nice size, and the mugs are beautiful as well. They are nice and heavy, and great for the price.

This a good set. My wife likes it. As was mentioned its not black, it more of a brown. The blue color is actually lighter as well. One thing we mentioned is that the plates are too big for microwave unless you have a huge 25 liter microwave. We have one which can fit large pizza, but those plates due to their rectangular design does not allow for rotation. Meanwhile they are microwave and dishwasher safe, so you can safely put them there. Overall we like this product and give 4 starts out of 5 due to microwave issue.

These plates surprised me by their weight and quality. The glaze on the top is very true to the pictures, and slightly different on every one. It makes for great variety when the plates are out.

The plates are still fairly new, so i can't speak to their durability. They seem sturdy though. The color was not as bright as i was hoping it would be. The plates are great sizes though. The medium is perfect for smaller portions, and the larger size allows my man to fill up his plate to his liking. i'm not sure I would buy these again, but they were a gift so I won't complain.

These are more dramatic in reality than the photo shows. When viewing them online I thought they were black and aqua-blue but they are actually a very dark brown which, on the face of the plate, eases into a thin golden yellow section with sprinkles of the brown and then turns a beautiful shade of blue. There is also a slight crackle effect in the blue portion which adds yet another dimension. There is an overall variation in glazing among the pieces which adds to the artistic nature (i.e. some pieces are a slightly less or slightly more intense shade of blue).I can't speak about durability because I haven't had them long enough to comment.

I received 2 sets of these dishes last week and they look very nice. The blue colour was very bright. We used them in the microwave with no problem and they don't scratch. If you want something different, these dishes are the ones to get. I would recommend them.

I ordered these dishes for my daughter for her bridal tea gift and I am so pleased with them. They arrived very quickly and were packed very well and all the pieces were in excellent shape. The dishes are very fine quality and the colors are absolutely gorgeous!!!!! We had been looking for a set of square dishes with the blue and black colors and had not had much luck so we decided to check out OverStock.com and I am so glad we did, it was too easy!!! I can't wait to give them to my daughter and display them at her bridal tea in April. THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!

I have been hunting for a while for a new set of dishes. The style and colors had to be just what I wanted, so when I saw this set I knew I had to order them to see if they were as beautiful as the picture, I could not believe it when I received my set, the colors were just beautiful and I plan to get another set soon. I would most definitely recommend this item.

I ordered three sets of these beautiful dishes. I was a little disappointed by the color. I had 3 or 4 different shades of blue in each box. That was extremely disappointing being that the color on the web page showed a deep blue, and mine ranged from very light blue to deep blue. I did have a couple of peices broke and I notified overstock.com and they had the factory replace the two items broke within a weeks time. I am very happy with my purchase
