This cart is ALL WOOD and nicely constructed. It was pretty easy to put together. It is easy to move around and has a handy dropleaf to extend the workspace when needed. A good value.

I absolutely love this Butcher-Block table. It is solid (very heavy) and the wood is beautiful. It is just what I imagined it would be like. It was not difficult to put together. I just had to be patient and follow the directions step-by-step. The drawer assembly is very nice and the wonderfully wide drawer glides in and out beautifully. The price was several hundred dollars less than I found it anywhere else. The quality was also much better than any of the similar pieces that I looked at in stores. I am thrilled with this purchase!

This is a very easy assembly job. However the bottom support brace wasn't properly affixed. to the bottom leg. Some epoxy fixed that. Overall very sturdy when it's together. Still the design of the bottom support slats makes me think the upward limit of how much this think could carry is probably 150 - 175lbs. That's plenty for a kitchen cart of this size. The top wood isn't terribly thick but it's not too little either. Just enough. I certainly wouldn't chop thing on it directly. Much too glossy for that and you'l ruin the veneer quickly. If you want to put a cutting board on top of it though it will be an attractive unit for that purpose. Anyway at the price it's a good item would recommend.

We searched hard to find just the right size butcher block and fell in love with this one. It was fairly easy to put together and very well made. Everything is great, besides the wire baskets. We had to go through 7 baskets to finally get 3 that were made correctly. But their customer service was amazing. Every monday morning for 2 weeks (it took 3 shipments to get the 3 well made baskets) I called Catskill, they took my adress and mailed them out, by Friday I had the new baskets! So if you get a Catskill product I would probably not do something with wire baskets, or atleast expect them not to get it right the first time. The butcher block is great and we have found it to work extremely well. My family has always had Boos blocks and it is a great alternative if you don't want to spend a fortune.

I have never had a problem with Overstock before, and Customer Service was wonderful in helping me solve the issue with this item. I had searched everywhere for a small island for my kitchen. I was thrilled when I found this item, plus it was made in the USA, which is important to me. Delivery was smooth and professional. There were no defects with the product however, the base looked like someone had taken a can of spray paint and painted rough sawn wood, not what the photo shows. When I checked underneath the base it was obvious that is exactly what someone had done. It was not even primed, sanded or finished as shown in the photo. Very rustic, like a packing crate with a piece of wood on top. The top is beautiful, thick, solid and heavy! The size is as stated in the ad, and the construction is fair. Not the usual quality I have grown to expect from Overstock. I wish I could recommend this product, but just cannot, if you are considering ordering, check out the brands offered on Overstock, this item is not worth the price.

I wanted a solid wood piece not a composite. When composite wood gets wet or old and the supports for the shelves give way. The butcher block top was rough and unfinished and needed a good sanding too. Not at all worth the price tag. For the quality I would not expect to pay over $300.

This butcher block is every bit as functional as it is fantastic looking. The butcher block top is REAL. Its top is at least two inches thick, and the wood straitions are gorgeous. We purchased it to use in our kitchen as a work center. It will be used extensively. Thanks Overstock!!!

READ the details of the item. We were excited about an island advertised as being made of hardwood but did not notice that the back and sides are made of pressed wood and veneer. We counted all of the screws and parts because of other reviews and although we had the correct number of pieces, they weren't all the correct size. That caused some splitting of the pressed board sides. The caster sleeves extend over the edges of the wood. The height is good and the island squared up nicely once we finished putting it together. Assembly takes a couple of hours; be prepared for that. Also, we recommend putting wood glue in all of the screw holes, especially wherever you are working with the pressed wood and the drawer. This item is priced too high to have pressed wood. I wish we had read all of the details more carefully! We would have spent the money on a different piece.

Very please with this kitchen island/cart. Gorgeous, well made island. We had been looking for one for several weeks. Looked at one for $$$$ at a discount store and it was not sturdy and most of it was not real wood and did not have a wood butcher block top. This island has a solid, thick butcher block top and all pieces are made out of solid wood. I shopped around for it and Overtock. com had the best price, almost half of what it was listed st other stores. My husband put it together in about 4 hours with just a little help from me.

I was very pleased with the wood pieces on this cart, but once it was assembled, the top part wobbles a bit and doesn't feel sturdy. We are using it as an island in the kitchen without the wheels, so this may make it more apparent. Overall, it is an attractive cart and just the right size for an average kitchen.

Very satisfied with this roll around cart. The wood is quite heavy and seems to be sturdy. Not very difficult to put it together. I did it by myself! (Grandma) The dark brown color matches my cherry cabinets well. I'm not crazy about the quality of the butcher block type top, although it is very heavy. It is not a high quality butcher block - but certainly is good for this price range. I'm thinking about replacing it with a piece of granite. From my comparisons, I found this cart to be a great value for the money.

This table is just as pictured and as described. I am actually using as a microwave oven table and have room under it for a trash can. I am a small person but I managed to get it in my house and put together by myself...so anyone can!

I the kitchen cart was shipped quickly and was easy to assemble. The rich wood color looks great and the butcher block top is perfect. It serves the purpose of extra counter space in a mid sized kitchen. Would recommend to anyone needing functional storage and counter space. Love it!

O M G! I just received my butcher block and all I can say is O M G! Beautiful! I have always wanted one and in the house I just moved into (built in the 1800s) does not have a big kitchen and counter space is limited. This is so well crafted and with the adjustable feet, I can steady it on the kitchen's hard wood floor.

We are using this as a butcher block, table, desk, and extra space when entertaining. It's perfect for all uses! It is beautiful and a substantial piece of wood. The assembly is very easy (simply attach 4 legs). It is heavy and my husband had to bring it in the house. Still very very pleased.

My son and I took several days to assemble this cart. It was relatively easy, with good instructions. Unfortunately, two of the metal drawers were defective. I called Catskill, and they promptly sent out two replacement baskets. I did not even need to return the old ones. The cart is made of high quality wood, and looks even better with butcher block wax.

Spent a lot of time comparing before I decided to buy this cart and I am still undecided whether I made the right choice. It took me three hours to put this cart together, the instructions had pictures only and the coding of each part was printed so tiny I had to use a magnifying glass. The shelves were only stapled together so I had to add more screws to make it more sturdy.Once I had the cart completely together, with the addition of a few more screws that I added, the appearance is exactly what I hoped for. The butcher block is impressive and the wood stain is nice. The butcher block top is wonderful and I love using it. I just wish the body of the cart was more substantial.

When I first built the cart, it was fantastic - it fit all my extra appliances on the shelves while giving me the extra counter top space with the gorgeous butcher's block. However after having it for 3 months it literally fell to pieces while I was moving it to clean underneath. One of the wooden rods snapped and the entire side fell down. As well, the shelves had not been well nailed together when it was shipped so all the slats came loose as well. Looks great and if you aren't going to move it, it will be perfect. Otherwise beware

i was looking for a decent, well built cart and didnt want to pay $500+ for the butcher block at this time. this cart is sturdy, easy to assemble and it just the right size to wheel around my kitchen, which is smaller. I use it for additional counter space when cooking- the shelves are a little too close together to hold any appliances or larger items so i really dont use those. I do wish the wood block piece was about 6 inches wider and then it would be 5 stars!
A chopping board is one of the most basic pieces of equipment in the kitchen. Chopping boards, also known as cutting boards and butcher blocks, protect your countertops from scratches and your knives from excessive dulling. Cutting boards are also much more sanitary than chopping your ingredients on the countertop or a paper plate or napkin. Used properly, a chopping board can also be a tremendous help in preparing your meals.

They say the kitchen is the heart of a home, but in many homes, it's also the biggest source of energy waste. Kitchen lighting, refrigeration and cooking consume about 41.5 percent of the total home energy use; add space heating, cooling, and water heating to that total, and you'll see your kitchen is quite the energy hog. Creating an eco-friendly kitchen includes your choice of appliances, but it also goes beyond that; the floors, paint, pots and pans, and other kitchen items you use can make your kitchen eco-friendly as well.
