Got this compact table to act as an "island" in my odd-shaped kitchen. It fits perfectly and does not clash with my existing cabinets. (I guess butcher block is pretty much a safe bet for the kitchen.) It was a bit of a pain to assemble alone because of the sheer bulk and weight of the top piece. I'm on the smaller side of average (female) and I struggled to maneuver the substantial butcher block top. It's not impossible to assemble on your own... but I would recommend having a second hand available to make it go more smoothly.

It took over 3 hours to put this together, mostly because of vague directions. The drawer doesn't fit correctly (rubs on the top) and one of the wire baskets is missing a weld at one of the wire ends to the rim, but I have that basket facing toward the wall. I think I could have bought this already assembled for about the same price somewhere else, but I would have had to drive around a lot to find it. But it's useful and I'm satisfied with it.

got pretty much what we thought. Had 2 defective pieces which were replaced hassle free at zero charge and got them within 2 days.

The assembly was straight forward. The butcher block top had two small gouges in it. At first I considered sending it back, but after it was together, the damaged areas did not show. The screws for fastening the top are too long, they would have poked through. I had shorter screws on hand. Overall the kitchen island looks pretty good and was reasonably priced.

I was a little wary since this was our first purchase from Overstock and didn't know what the "catch" was, but I am very happy with this purchase. It is completely assemble-yourself, and it took us about 2 hours to put together. Instructions are easy to follow, and if you've done much assembly-required furniture, you'll be impressed that the pieces really fit together well. It looks just like the picture, and is very sturdy. Drawers roll easily and the pulls are attractive. The only negative (or maybe just surprise) is that the wood is not treated as much as I'd have expected. Perhaps that's because it's for butcher block use. It's well sanded and hasn't stained, but it's just slightly rougher than I'd expect - about like a cutting board, all over, even on the sides and drawers. Also, the screws for the drawer pulls weren't long enough for the bottom two drawers, but a quick trip to the local (tiny) hardware store and we were all set.

For nearly $***the quality is not there. The finish is rough, mostly particle board and I felt that it was not a solid unit based on how it had to be assembled using hardware that was not appropriate for some of the connections. Most screws were flathead where the connection should have used a round head or truss head. The bottom shelf and dividers are not solidly attached to the unit when installed. During my assembly I used additional screws and wood glue in order to achieve a more solid unit that would take some hard use. The drawer construction is not of quality for the money spent. Again for the money I recommend shopping locally and buying a unit that you can see and buy fully assembled. A positive point was that the assembly instructions were very clear.

Purchased this island/cart for kitchen. All pieces/parts were included, all in excellent condition. We may have spent more than we wanted, but the hardwood of this cart was worth it. It's extremely solid, the castors/wheels are solid and it looks great. Took my husband about 3 hours to assemble with minimal assistance from me. Only thing I didn't like was instructions say to oil the wood once/week for 3 weeks, then once/month for 3 months, then as needed. Not a problem except no oil was included with the cart, that would have been nice. So after shopping locally with no luck, I had to order butcher block oil on-line. Other than that, a great island/cart for the price, we're very happy.

i was looking for a decent, well built cart and didnt want to pay $500+ for the butcher block at this time. this cart is sturdy, easy to assemble and it just the right size to wheel around my kitchen, which is smaller. I use it for additional counter space when cooking- the shelves are a little too close together to hold any appliances or larger items so i really dont use those. I do wish the wood block piece was about 6 inches wider and then it would be 5 stars!

Needed a little extra counter space in the kitchen and this piece fit into the spot we had. It wasn't bad to assemble and is pretty sturdy. It is nice to have the two shelves for some storage too.

What a nice surprise. Real wood. Put some tung oil on it and it looks great. Assembly required and the directions could of been a little better, but look the finished product.

I was skeptical about purchasing an "assembly required" cart for my kitchen, but took a chance based on the other reviews I saw for this particular one. I am not disappointed - the cart looks sturdy, and well crafted, not "cheap." It was relatively easy to assemble (though two small pieces were missing that I needed to procure myself). The wheels and locking mechanisms are good quality, and the cart stays in place when the the locks are engaged. The two shelves below the heavy butcher block top hold plenty of items, including heavier pieces. I have put my mixing bowls on the shelves, making them much easier to grab when I need them. All in all, a nice looking addition to the kitchen, providing additional storage and counter work space.

I bought this as a Mother's Day gift to myself a year ago I have a small kitchen and could never fit the beautiful islands I saw online. This is perfect. It was easy to assemble. It is quite sturdy and has given me so much additional storage space. It weighs over 100 pounds. It is worth it's weight in gold for me.

This cabinet's description states it ships assembled. This cabinet arrived in 2 flat boxes. I refused delivery. I had previously called to confirm and was assured the body ships assembled and only the accessory parts ship separately. This price is not worth the effort to assemble such a large item. Also since it required assembly, I did not trust the durability. The description led me to believe this was a factory assembled quality product. For this price, this should not required assembly. Very disappointed. On a better note, OV Customer Service reps were very professional.

Great for small spaces-we purchased it for a small cabin kitchen. Lots of pieces to assemble. One basket came broken and not usable.

Ordered this to fill a hole in the middle of the kitchen and it works great. Took about 4 hours to assemble, but no too bad. Very pleased.

Well made of good quality materials. Easy to assemble, just follow the directions and if needed log on and watch the video. Product support only a call away and great website. This island looks wonderful. Real wood, eco friendly manufacturing right here in the USA. Worth every penny and this will be a lasting piece.

We are using this as a butcher block, table, desk, and extra space when entertaining. It's perfect for all uses! It is beautiful and a substantial piece of wood. The assembly is very easy (simply attach 4 legs). It is heavy and my husband had to bring it in the house. Still very very pleased.

Love this cart! Beautiful hardwood, substantial butcher block top. I would have preferred the butcher block be unfinished so it could be used to cut food without a cutting board. Also, some pieces were a bit off-center, but the assembly went smoothly in spite of this. I would recommend this item. Great price too.

This cart is easy to assemble and quite sturdy. I bought it to use as a microwave cart and mine is large. The only issue with this item is 8 metal dowels that fit end to end, sharing the same holes to sustain interior and exterior shelves. They fit loosely, so you must have glue to put on the ends of the dowels to make them stationary. Very good cart for the price!

This is a beautiful table. It is sturdy (over 130lbs) and made of great quality wood. The color of the table is beautiful as it is the material. The biggest complaints I had with this are (1) the assembly instructions are outdated (and confusing) and (2) the drawer is a little rickety. I had to call the manufacturer four times to figure out the assembly because they give parts that are not listed on the material sheets and substitute others that are listed. The drawings also don't match up to the actual holes on the wood pieces, thus making it difficult in one case to tell which are the front panels vs the back panels. They also describe a way to tighten the parts that is sort of accurate. And, if you don't tighten the parts just so, the legs don't really attach to the table in a stable manner. (I had to disassemble and reassemble the pieces so that they'd be more secure.) On the phone they admitted that they needed to update the assembly instructions - please do so soon so that others don't get that confused. (BTW, I've assembled more than ten furniture pieces - from Ikea, Target and less well known retailers/manufacturers.) They also gave me a butcher block that on the reverse side had a pretty bad tree know - there was about a two-inch gouge in the wood. I asked them for a replacement and they said they'd ship one out but it's been two weeks. I finally got tired of waiting and just used the original, marred one. I really didn't want to call them yet again. Assembled, the drawer feels a little unstable and rickety. I wish the gliding part were smoother but, hey, I am not going to disassemble and reassemble the piece yet again, so I am living with it. It is a beautiful piece but beware of these glitches.
