Product Reviews for:
4.6 out of 5I bought this coffee maker after going through an expensive Saeco and Cuisinart in three years. They both ground the beans, but were hard to clean up and ultimately failed. Bunn coffee makers are nothing fancy, but they make great coffee. I know from many friends who own them (and from extensive research of reviews) that they are very reliable, as well. The BX-B Thermofresh is great so far. Fast, fresh and delicious coffee and instant hot water. The only reason I didn't give the machine five stars is that you must purchase special Bunn filters (they're taller) and that I had to request an alternative sprayer head from Bunn for the coffee to be as strong as I'm used to. This was done on-line (Bunn's corporate website) and the sprayer arrived, free of charge and postage, in a couple of days. Apparently the weak coffee problem has something to do with my water, not the coffee maker, so Bunn has this fix available for free. The Overstocks price was $30 cheaper than the lowest price I found for this machine. I hope I don't need to buy another one for many years, but based on this machine, I'd buy another Bunn when that day arrives.
Bunn" coffee makers are simple and when you need decent coffee fast you can't beat them. And yes, these have been popular in restaurants for years. This is a good looking unit and I knew having a carafe rather than a heating plate would preserve the quality of the coffee. This was purchased for an office and we probably make 3 pots per day. This particular unit has a major design flaw. About 3 months into using it we noticed it dripped heavily when pouring a cup. I contacted Bunn. Their comment: the "engineers" were working on the problem. Coffee has a great deal of oil and this was building up under the rubber seals resulting in the leaks. Extensive cleaning under the rubber seal would solve the problem, I was told. A tedious process. It did leak less after this cleaning but soon went back to it's old tricks. I pour my cup over the sink to avoid messy clean up. Coffee is, of course wasted. Love Bunn but this design needs work. Would not buy this model until they solve carafe problem.
This machine makes the best coffee possible...... many years behind the Bunn name and quality. I did have a minor problem with the basket overflowing.......called the Bunn 800 number and they promptly sent me a different disperser at no charge. Actually they sent two (2) at no charge. It's easy to unscrew the other and screw the new one in. Only takes 5 seconds. I sent one of these to my brother.......and he tells me EVERY day for the past month, how much he loves this coffee-maker and the excellent coffee. This is definitely a winner. And Bunn is right there for your needs. Overstock.com is my hero. After my first order.......I've been at it non-stop. Easy, fast, good pricing and excellent.......above and beyond....staff. Tell your friends (PS I don't work for Overstock.....even though I sound like it)
I love this coffee maker, it's quick and the brewed coffee stays hot without evaporating or getting bitter from a heating plate as do other coffee makers. I also bought my son one as a gift.
Totally disappointed wthi this unit. Coffee it produces isn't particularly hot, and the thermos does a lousy job of keeping it at any decent temp. Don't like the continuous heating aspect of the water storage unit. No sneaking a cup before it's completely finished. If packing it up and shipping it back were not such a headache I'd be doing just that. As it is, I'm on the search for a new coffee maker (going back to Krups!!) and will put this one away or give it away if anyone would actually want it.
love the fact that once set up fresh coffee is only a few min. away. pot keeps coffee hot for hours

This is my second Bunn and I can't imagine ever owning a different brand. I love my pot of coffee in 3 minutes! The thermal pot with this coffee maker keeps coffee hot for several hours. My husband is on call and when he leaves in the middle of the night, he makes a full pot and in the morning the coffee tastes like it was just brewed. I highly recommend this coffee maker and Overstock's price was the best I saw. Great coffee maker- great value!
This is the best coffee maker we ever had. It makes 10 cups of coffee in about 3 minutes. It doesn't leak all over the place when you pour it. The coffee stays hot for a couple of hours. The coffee also has a better taste. I had to add an extra scoop of grounds to get the strength just right. We wanted one with a timer but with as fast as this brews, you don't need it. We prepare the grounds and fill the pot with water at night and in the morning pur the water in the tank, place the pot below and the best thing is, this machine holds the water in the tank until you shut the lid. Three minutes later your coffee is ready. Plus this thing looks great too.
Love this Bunn coffee maker. I've always used Bunn but this one is better. I never have to wonder if I "shut off the coffee pot" with this one. Keeps coffee hot & fresh.
I wanted a thermal coffee maker that would be fast and reliable. I am familiar with the Bunn system from using a Bunn years ago. It made the coffee hotter than the coffee maker that it was replacing. This was a key reason for replacing the other coffee maker.
10 yrs. ago we had a Bunn-O-Matic coffeemaker, which worked really well. We switched to Cuisenart and the 3 models that we've had were good. After researching via internet coffee customers etc., we decided on this ThermoFresh unit. We made an excellent choice. My wife was concerned about the absence of an auto-timer to have coffee ready whenwe got up to go to work, but the Bunn brews 10 cups of fresh coffee in 3 mins.! It sprays the hot hot water evenly over the coffee. No need for "whistles and bells", clocks, etc. You can brew another pot in just 3 mins.
The Bunn looks great and coffie in three minuties in the morning is wounderful.

I think everyone who has owned a coffee maker has suffered from great out of the box only to fail way before we expect it to. Having gone the route of bells and whistles and big bucks on my quest for the ultimate coffee maker I have landed on stick to the basics. This model doesn't have a programable timer or grinder, but I miss neither. Hot water on demand results in fast brewing (about 3 mins) that goes unnoticed in my morning routine. If I feel like tea - same thing - cold water added and close the lid - bingo hot water. The company's strong USA base and years in business is what drove the purchase home - I choose to spend my dollars in the USA as much a feasible these days, which isn't always easy or the cheapest. Doing the right thing isn't always the cheapest!

I bought this to use in the kitchen at my office. You have to make sure the coffee is in the basket first - then pour the water in. If you don't, the water runs through an empty basket - and you have... water. We had to put a sign on telling everyone to read the directions. Funny thing, some folks thought that was too much effort. Keeps coffee warm for hours. All in all, a good buy.

Purchased this at the best price out there and receive within the week of ordering it. Only problem is that I was looking for this model with the Carafe that is on the picture and instead received the one I was trying to avoid. But Bunn uses either carafs for this model so no fault of overstock.com. Would help maybe to put a disclaimer that carafe style can vary. Love my Bunn coffee maker this is the 5th coffee make from Bunn I have owned over the years.

- How accurate was the on site description of the product? Great but could use a disclaimer specifying that carafe style can vary with this model from manufacturer.
Makes great coffee and keeps it hot for hours without cooking it - very economical as I don't have to make several pots because it cooks down to undrinkable sludge.

We had a Coffee Mate for years, and broke the pot. Tired of waiting for our coffee to brew we thought this would be a better alternative, and since my husband works at home all day, the Thermal pot doesn't continue to cook the coffee like a hot plate does. Surprisingly the coffee stays very hot for long periods of time. We are pleased. I woke and poured my coffee one morning, drank a few sips, coffee wasn't extremely hot, but was very warm, then discovered it was from yesterday evening (after speaking with husband). I could have finished the cup as it was warm enough to drink. All in all we're very pleased. The only negative is that the pot isn't marked with cup lines, so making a smaller quantity than a full pot is guesswork, as a measuring cup does not equal a coffee cup. I would purchase again. In fact, I did purchase one (glass pot with lines however) for my office.

In my search for the perfect cup of coffee at home, I read through all of the reviews on this and another site. I drink a cup or maybe two a day, but my husband finishes the rest of the pot, so a pod system really isn't cost-effective for us. I like the idea of a thermal carafe so the pot doesn't sit for a couple hours 'cooking' on a heat disk. He likes a glass carafe so he can see how much is left. Ah, married life. Our 10-year old Cuisinart cone-drip brewer with clock/timer (that made pretty-good coffee) was starting to go, so with high anticipation ordered this (despite the glass-carafe issue with my dh). I wanted really good coffee. Price: This machine has few mechanical parts. The water-flow is gravity-fed from the top. The only real technological part is the insulated heating tube and element, which is either 'on' or 'off''. I don't feel the 'guts' of this machine justifies the price, even on O. Workings: The many reviews that I read on this product were either stellar, or filled with technological problems (spray-head issues, clogging, messes of water/grounds overflowing the brew basket). I have owned this machine for 4 months now. I found that to brew a 10-cup pot of coffee, it takes almost twice as much fresh-ground coffee as my old 12-cup Cuisinart cone brewer. Occasionally it brews a weak, tea-colored pot of coffee, even though everything else appears to be normal. Not sure if this is a water temp thing, a spray-head thing, or what. On several occasions (including this morning, hence this review), I too experienced the brew-basket overflow of water and grounds, again, when setup was the same, grounds quantity the same, filter the same, etc. I don’t know if the spray head inside pumped out too much too fast or what. Wiping up the sludge/mess from under and around the machine is a drag. Although the water heating element always being ‘on’ so it is ready to brew a 3-minute pot of coffee might be nice, but really, unless you DO go through more than a pot a day, it’s a waste of energy. Coffee: But…is it REALLY an awesome cup of coffee? If it was, then I could probably tolerate the above sporadic mechanical issues. But honestly, it’s not any better than my old Cuisinart that I can pay 1/3 less to replace, and save even more money by using half the coffee grounds for another 10 years. Now to convince O to take it back even though I passed the 3-month mark.
