The bed was delivered quickly and delivered in two boxes; one of which was damaged, but no product damage. It is easy to assemble, BUT there is much more assembly than expected. Every slat has to be individually screwed down and the directions aren't that good whether to do so over or under. BTW - there are a bunch of slats since each is about one to one one half inches apart. As long as you start correctly you shouldn't have any problems. Suggestion: don't tighten anything all the way until everything is put together. Once put together the bed looks sharp and sturdy. On appearance the bed got demerits for the seam showing for the upper half of the head board and the two spot welds under each adjoining piece (should have welded all the way around). Otherwise it is trendy, nice and sturdy.
This is a very sturdy, well-made, and heavy bed. I took it out of the box before I brought it in to make it easier to carry. I'm wimpy though! It was easy to put together, but I recommend two people just to make it easier. I bought this bed to replace the bed my son took with him to college, but he came home yesterday and saw it, so I'm afraid we'll be 'trading' beds because he liked this one so much! That's okay though! :) It is a metallic champagne color, but looks perfect in my son's black room with sponged metallic silver. I like the bed better being the color it is so it would go with more bedding colors in any other room (if that makes sense). It's a very sturdy, well-supported bed. You could use just a mattress without box springs if you want, although we used both. There are two settings for height of the supporting platform, so if you use a box springs, you might want the lower setting, unless you want to store stuff under the bed, then the bed will just be higher. This bed is well worth the money ~ it's awesome!
Upon receiving this bed frame I noticed a few very good things; There were 10 cross frame supports (more than I expected)There was a center brace (with 2 support legs) to aid in supporting the center of the bed and prevent bowing or saggingThe assembly hardware included locking/crown nuts to keep them secure after assemblyNot listed in the description (but I believe in another reviewer mentioned), is the fact that this bed frame can be used with or without a box spring/foundation and there are 2 assembly heights to accommodate this (or if you just want a lower or higher bed position).Assembly time for 2 people was 1 hour, and was very simple, just screws, washers and nuts.
Product arrived within a week. One of the boxes had a serious hole in it, but for the most part, the hardware inside was not damaged. I assembled the bed, by myself, in less than 2 hours. The only minor annoyance I have with the bed is that the platform the mattress sits in is not deep enough, i.e. the mattress can slide off the platform since there's only about 1-2" of the mattress that sits deeper than the surface of the platform. Hard to explain. But as long as you're not planning to have people hopping/sliding into bed, this shouldn't be an issue.I did notice some scratches on the footboard. Called and the customer service was fantastic. They not only gave me some credit back but also sent a replacement piece.
I am happy with the bed. Pretty easy to put together. However this is the second item in two months I have ordered from Overstock that has arrived damaged. The headboard on this bed has 3 or 4 dents in it. Other than that I like it.
Read a lot of reviews...easy to put together if you ignore the instructions; love this bed....got the firm memory foam 11 inch mattress and because I was so pleased, I bought the same frame in full-size!
I just received this bed today, and I have to say I was nervous; I've been reading that people have received this bed damaged because it's so heavy. To my surprise, my bed was in perfect condition. It took about two hours to put together, with the steel slats taking the most time to put together. With this bed, I use a bunky board and my new queen mattress. I'm a bit disappointed by it's lack of a "low profile," but you can't deny this piece is beautiful. I could use the lower setting, but it'd look odd because the headboard is so high. I'd say the bed is a gun metal with a hint of champagne (note that the box it comes in says champagne, not grey). I am very happy with this purchase, and it's definitely an upgrade from my XXXX XXXX bed. The bed overall is extremely sturdy (and heavy), and there's no squeaks. I'm a young professional, and this fits my style flawlessly. Thanks, Overstock.
Great solid metal platform bed with metal support beams. Perfect for any mattress, but especially higher end mattresses that require the additional support. A quality mattress is an investment, why not protect it and make it even more comfortable by being fully supported. I have an air chamber mattress that I use with the platform designed for it. I will say the additional support this frame brings from its solid construction truly makes my comfortable bed even more comfortable. Another great buy from Overstock!
This platform bed is a terrific value. It is very sturdy and well engineered. It well supports a Sleep Number bed, Select Comfort or any air chamber mattress without additional braces. The bed was easy to put together. I would highly recommend this bed.

What are the width of the support slats and how far apart are they? I can't find any good pictures of them.
The memory foam mattress manufacture I'm looking at calls out for 2-3" width supports and 3" between them.
Thanks.aemaher on Feb 23, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
slats are 5 inches apart...you will need a bunkie board or a low base for your mattress...I have the air chamber bed and I use the base it was designed with. You will always want the extra support for any high end mattresssatxguy on Mar 4, 2014
Hello aemaher, thank you for inquiring about the Bronx Queen-size Bed. The side rail is 78 inches long. There are predrilled holes that are 7 ½ inches apart. The slats are 1 ½ inch in width. You may need to purchase more slats at a home improvement store near you, to support the mattress you want. Thank you for shopping with us.overstockcustomercare1 on Mar 12, 2014
If the overall size of the frame is 81" and the mattress is 80", the only way that can work is if the mattress sticks through the headboard, which will make the effective length of the mattress somewhat, likely 3-4" shorter.???wrongbus on Feb 21, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello wrongbus, We apolgize for any confusion. We have confirmed the overall length of the bed is 85 inches. We will have this updated shortly. Thanks for shopping with us.overstockcustomercare1 on Feb 26, 2014
We had to put plywood under the mattress, as the slats are not supportive enough.kittykat222 on Feb 15, 2014
Hello ajr223, thank you for your inquiry! Yes, you can use this for a sleep number bed. However, we would recommend that you use a box spring for support. I hope this helps. Happy shopping!overstockcustomercare1 on Feb 22, 2014
Order the support platform for your sleep number, set the bed up with the 5 inch legs and place the mattress on top of everything. You will protect your investment and notice the added comfort.satxguy on Mar 4, 2014

Hello mike94061, The Bronx Queen-size Bed is actually a silver color, like stainless steel. Please feel free to contact us again with any further questions. Thank you for shopping with us!overstockcustomercare1 on Oct 14, 2013
this is a silver-colored finish, not polished metal. it's a nice, cool color though and is not overly shiny or glittery.
'coated-finish steel tubes' is about right. it's very sturdy and has held up well for several years now.ocotester on Dec 6, 2013

i think that is doable, but i would suggest unpacking and carrying the headboard and foot board separately.
side rails, head board, foot board and 'platform' pieces come separate, you'll have to assemble.
it's helpful to have someone hold up the pieces while you screw them together.ocotester on Dec 6, 2013
I found the boxes to be heavy and bulky, it was just easier ti jut unpack and carry the pieces to where I wanted to assemble the bed.krewslady on Jan 7, 2014
If we didn't want to use a box spring could you recommend a bunkie board for a queen size? Our mattress requires it for warranty reason.rubylu26 on Aug 28, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
I'm sorry I could not find any bunkie boards on Overstock.com.
Thank you for shopping with us! overstockcustomercare1 on Aug 30, 2013
this is a platform-style bed, there is nowhere to put a box spring. it comes with a layer of metal slats (the 'platform' that hold any mattress. that's all a bunky board really is, plus a layer of fabric.ocotester on Dec 6, 2013
Hi katamariofcats, this bed comes in two boxes and should be sent UPS depending on where you are. It is not considered freight. According to our records it will be under 100 pounds. Thanks for shopping with us. overstockcustomercare1 on Jul 8, 2013
After I assemble this bed, how hard is it to disassemble if I were to move?lovecle on Jun 25, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
It was very easy to disassemble for me and I hate doing this kind of stuff. In my experience, once I assembled it, I had a better understanding of how the parts worked versus when I put it together. Plus, you can choose how much you need to break it down versus having everything in a million pieces like when you get it. My only advice is to keep the allen wrench that comes with it taped to the bottom of the frame or in a safe place because you will need it if you don't have tools.vikaitch on Jun 27, 2013
i've done this and it was easy. most of the work in assembly was for the platform, which come as individual slats (helpful if you have a ratchet wrench): not hard to do, just tedious.
for the move, i took off the headboard and foot board but left the platform in one piece.ocotester on Dec 6, 2013
Hi, I see a question on whether the slats are wood or metal, and one answer says wood and the other one says metal...which is it?

If you're still wondering:
1. assemble platform. slats go ON TOP of lengthwise rails--not really clear in instructions.
2. attach headboard and footboard (try leaning these against wall while attaching.ocotester on Dec 11, 2013
This bed is what we called "double drilled", for adjustments to 2 different heights. The support deck system, can be attached to set-up at 7 1/2" from floor (for use with mattress and boxspring), but can also be attached to the headboard and footboard to be set at 11 1/2" from the floor (giving it a more platform bed look). Thank you.overstockcustomercare1 on Mar 26, 2013
