previously we did have a device that you mechanically moved into position that would give you a good "flush" but some toilet seats did not sit comfortably with this and it did cost over $100 alone. This has the seat combined with it and it is so nice. Husband installed short of 30 minutes too. I do love it.
So far I am very pleased with this purchase. The item arrived in a reasonable amount of time and was easy to install. I chose this model over the 800 series because I thought a remote comtrol for a toilet seat was a silly purchase; however, if a person is large enough to hang over the toilet seat, I would recommend buying the one with the remote control to making operating the controls easier. If you are normal sized, this model is perfectly adequate.
Having arthritis and limited twisting ability the Brondell 550 delivers. It makes personal hygene a breeze. Especially appreciated is the heated seat on a cool midnight visit. I found the Swash 550 very easy even for me to install taking only about twenty minutes, a screwdriver and a pair of channel locks. The only potential drawback is that is only has a 4' cord and if your toilet is left of your vanity and your outlet is on the right side you may need to have an additional gfi outlet installed closer to the seat. In my case I have outlets on both sides of the vanity so no problem. Enjoy!
Yes it is a lot of money for a toilet seat. But once you use it, you won't ever go without it. This is my first but I can't see not having one in the future. Works very well, very though out in its design and the way it works. Warm air blower is more of a feel good than a dry you off. Seat temp is plenty warm and adjustable. Water temp is warm and doesn't run out of warm water. I was picturing a bit more room with the elongated version - but the casing takes up some of the room between the seat and the toilet tank - not bad just different than I was expecting. Senses if you get up and stops immediately. Spray nozzles retract automatically so not intrusive in appearance. If you don't want the "control panel" on the side you have to spend more to get the remote control version. Makes use of toilet tissue an option and then just to pat dry. If you are not sure about the cost just suck it up and spend the money - you honestly will not regret your purchase. Overstock delivery etc. was all good. I used an e-mail offer from Overstock to bring the price down a little more.
