Having lived for 10 years in a Manhattan apartment with no vent hood at all over the stove, I was determined to get a good one for my new home, and I did - thanks to Overstock. This hood does everything except do the cooking for me. There were a few tricky bits my contractor hadn't bargained for, but he installed it without too much trouble. The lighting, in particular is fantastic, and it's almost silent operating on all but the highest speed. Plus it looks fantastic over my new fancy-pants LG gas range. I couldn't be happier with it.

This hood does a great job of venting odors and heat from the stove. I have mine venting outside through the back. The fan is super quiet. I can hardly tell its on when using the low setting. It has some additional bells and whistles that I don't find that useful. My kitchen is dark in general so I had to disable the automatic night light because the lights always stayed on. I don't need the clock and timer features either so I turned them off. The only issue I have with the hood are the halogen lights. They get very hot very quickly. Most hoods come with halogens these days so its not a show stopper. Just something to be aware of. If you are looking for a nice sleek hood that does an excellent job of venting, this is a great option.
The good: * It sucks very well * Bright lights • Relatively quiet * Easy to clean underneath The bad: * Buttons are small and not easily pressed * Buttons are not highlighted enough, makes them hard to find when there is little light in the room * Press and hold to turn something off is annoying, another logic would do better * Built-in clock is useless: 4 minutes fast per week * Built-in kitchen timer is useless: audible signal is not audible at all when hood runs! * On power outages it keeps the (useless) clock running, but doesn't remember it's settings. That means after every little power blip (we have a lot) the automatic night lights are enabled, and the useless clock display comes back on again. * Lights produce a considerable amount of heat on the surfaces they light. That is something to keep in mind in smaller kitchens where the stovetop sometimes serves other purposes. * Occasionally it rattles, something inside starts vibrating. Opening it twice and tightening all reachable screws helped somewhat, but did not eliminate the rattle. It works very well for it's intended purpose (string and relatively quiet), but it's various quirks are a constant source of annoyance. A little more care in the design would have made a good product into a great product. 3.5 stars. [This review editor is very poorly written, it looses all formatting in the review!
