I wanted to purchase a contemporary looking console that had at least some covered storage and this one fits the bill. My main goal was to conceal my subwoofer, which came down to guesswork as the much needed interior dimensions aren't listed. The only thing I could do was to take a ruler to the screen and scale the dimensions out visually. Luckily I just made it with 1 inch to spare on both sides. So here they are: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -Component shelving dimensions: 21.5" W x 16.5D -Storage dimensions (each side): 11.5" W x 16.5D ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The back panels slide behind the components but are fixed behind the storage areas, so I used a 1" bit to drill a hole for the subwoofer cord. I would be easy to drill a few more holes for ventilation, but so far I have just kept the door open. Having the feature of sliding rear panels made component set up much easier. This should be a standard feature of all component consoles as far as I'm concerned. --------------------------------------------------------------------- As you can see from the picture the doors are hinged on the sides. This allows you to store DVD's/CD's on the door itself as well as inside. For the subwoofer I unassembled the shelving on the door and it still is structurally sound and closes well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The construction is sound and solid. The only problem I have is that I can't get the interior shelves to fit. They are about 1/16" to long. I suspect that you could avoid this by installing them before you tighten everything down. I'm just going to run them through my tablesaw. --------------------------------------------------------------------- I did a lot of research online and for what I was looking for this was the best price overall (including shipping).
This worked out fine for what I needed it for! I will say, its EXTREMELY heavy in the box (as it should be) so unless you're pretty stout, I wouldnt anticipate man-handeling this up a flight of stairs solo! It wasn't THAT bad to get together, but the directions could have been a little clearer. I was very suprised that unlike other furniture that requires assembly...no letters or numbers on the individual pieces?!? Most of the time, they mark everything so you have a "put A into B" type of situation. Im no scientist...but wouldn't that make putting this together a TON easier? Ah well, once its was put together it looked very nice! Especially for the price!
The workmanship on this product was awful. Scrapes, chips, missing paint on serveal surfaces and missing hardware. I donated to a thrift store.
I assembled my Broadway Black in one night! I expected it to take a lot longer. The appearance and workmanship of the Broadway Black is superior to all similar products I have purchased in the past. I love my Broadway Black!
This requires full assembly and a couple pieces of hardware were missing, there was a little damage to two of the pieces. This is laminated particle board. Unless you are speedy at putting this type of thing togetheer, you should probably allow an hour or so. The instructions we only so-so. The thing that bothers me most though is the cabinet doors on the end swing open (be sure you measure your space so there's room for them to open) and on my unit one of the doors sticks as it drags against the cabinet. The other side is perfectly fine. I have a flat screen that is just a few inches shorter than the length and it's starting to bow in the middle after I'd had it about 4 months.

I like the console & the color, but its made out of pressed partical board. Its a lot of money to pay for partical board.

- Please tell us about the quality of the product. for the price I would have thought it would have been made of something better than partical board
- How accurate was the on site description of the product? good
Arrived in great condition with the exception of one of the interior door shelves with a small crack in it. Caled the number provided and a replacement was sent out and received in about a week. Assembly was easy to understand and the parts as long as you matched them up with the picture in the instructions were easy to figure out. Doors open and close nicely and the backing material is very sturdy. Finish is a little rough at the edges but is to be expected with the paper laminate finish. Overall I am very pleased with the unit and would buy again.
Great product, fast shipping. The assembly instructions were better than I expected and assembly took a little more than an hour. The worst things about this product are 1) the individual panels/pieces are not labeled/identified so you had to visually match them up to the diagrams. 2) there was some extremely minor blemishes in a couple spots from the shipping adventure (you could see the tan colored wood through the black surface, a Sharpie fixed that! ) and there was (IMO) more "sawdust" dust/debris than I expected. Otherwise, absolutely fabulous looking when assembled and generous VHS/DVD storage. I highly recommend it!
Ok, so I'm pretty good with reading the directions and putting things together. I'm a 28 yr old female and have lived alone for the last ten years so I do most things myself. However, this took me a LONG time- 6 hours and I would say get some help. The directions were as vague as they come and none of the parts are labeled. I actually started from the end and worked my way back because the first part was the hardest to visualize and figure out. I did the doors first and worked backwards and it worked out well. I do love the look once its done though, for the price it really is a nice stand. Little shoddy on the quality, The back boards didnt fit on well at all, they overlapped and a few pieces were chipped but this was hidden once put together. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase. This completely has to do with your budget and what you want out of a stand. I easily fit my DVD player, cable box and Wii on it. I also fit over 100 DVDS, its roomy.
We are very satisfied with this purchase and have had company over and they are interested in buying this console for themselves. It took about three hours to assemble but it was worth the time and it looks great in our living room with our 40 inch Sony TV!
I was skeptical at first, given how low the price was. Pros: looks much more expensive than it is; wood; sturdy; low price. Cons: hard to put together (many screws, time-intensive, and need 2 people for some of the steps); doesn't store as many dvds as you'd think from its appearance. Overall, I would recommend this to a friend who was good putting furniture together or who could get help from someone.
it looks nice, but i certainly would have preferred solid wood. the black finish rubs off with minor scratching. it's easy to fix with a sharpie, but still. that said, for the price, i'm pretty happy with it.
I was a little concerned when I purchased the piece because you never know, but it was a great piece. Very sturdy and solid. Lots of storage space. Quality product, good price.
I was a little nervous about putting the stand together after reading all the reviews. It did take a couple of hours, but with the help of a handyman, my dad, we were able to put everything together. It's definitely a long project, but it's beautiful once it is put together! There were no scratches or chips. Make sure you lay everything out before you start because it's easy to mess up since none of the pieces are labeled. There were no missing pieces, but 4 of the shelves in the cupboard doors were about an inch too long! I have contacted the company and they are shipping new ones. The t.v. stand looks great in my condo where there is limited space. It's just the right size without over dominating the space. I have a 42 inch flat screen sitting on top-the perfect icing on the cake!
Looks great, relatively easy to put together, solid piece of furniture.
The good: Easy to assemble, looks really nice, has lots of storage, very sturdy. The bad: Took a while to arrive. Not all pieces were included. Took a while to get the missing piece. Had several small scratches on the top that we masked with a sharpee. For what it cost, I was disappointed for it to be scatched. But, we ended up covering the top with a cloth so the tv sitting on it wouldn't scratch it more. It looks like a high quality piece of furniture and is very sturdy and solid. Perfect size: holds everything without overwhelming the room. I especially like the door handles and legs. Very modern.
Wow, this is a nice console for the price. I really like the silver legs and storage space. Unfortunately one of the parts in the back were slightly broken, but you cant really tell. All in all, i am happy with this purchase.
Just what I needed for my small co-op. It keeps all my electronic equipment stored safely and looking good. My TV is on the wall and I placed this jiust below and have my printer on top to the side which leaves me space for my phone and some plants. The only negative was the assembly. Pieces weren't labled. It took about two hours to put together but worth it. This was my first purchase from Overstock.com and I am very pleased.
I love this item! The craftmanship is very nice and it looks fabulous w/ a flatscreen t.v ontop of it. Definitley 5 stars....
