Bristol Tufted Grey Linen Modern Sofa Set

This sofa set was exactly what I was looking for to serve as the main piece to my faery tale themed living room. I added turquoise and deep purple pillows, put a forest green and purple tapestry patterned rug underneath, (using money saved from this set’s steal of a price!) and within a few hours, had something like a picture from a storybook. I saw there is a matching bed….hmm, I love the idea of keeping the theme running…

I haven't seen a sofa set quite like this one. It has an Old World feeling of elegance that the modern stuff just can't achieve. As such, it seems like a rare kind of set amidst so many modernist stylings out there. That's why I got it, and everyone has noticed how special these piece look. So many of my friends think that I got them at an antique shop! Simply beautiful. And for such a low price, too! Thank you Overstock for having such a gorgeous and decidedly non-modernist design among your product offerings. More like this please!

My willingness to recommend this to a friend would be conditional. For the price, it's not a bad purchase. If you love old-school tufting, this will disappoint you bit. The quality of the upholstery is lacking and the piping isn't done very well. Also, the folds that create the diamond pattern aren't folds at all, they are actual sewn seams--sort of odd. The visual effect is a traditional tufted back, but it's obviously done in a mass-produced way. Also, there is a seam down the middle of the sofa seat. You can see it in the photo, but it's far more pronounced in person. It's kind of jarring to have a big seam down an otherwise unbroken plane of grey. That all falls under the category of getting what you paid for. Also, the piece arrived with minor damage to the wood--annoying to me but not the kind of thing that would prompt my husband to send it back. There was also only 1 delivery guy for both pieces. Yes, one guy carrying a sofa into my house. He managed, but I wonder if that wasn't what caused the damage. Lastly, these are really enormous pieces of furniture--much bigger than any period piece that may have inspired them.

We bought this set to spruce up our messy foyer and now when you walk in the house, there's a new level of austere order that has really had a positive influence on the whole home karma. Instead of an old wooden bench that everyone sat on to put on their shoes, there's this sofa. So lovely. And the chair is in the corner and acts as an easy place to toss your jacket or scarf. They really look they cost a lot more. A great buy.
