11 inches of material compressed to 8 inches..Ha. 8 inches thick. That's it, but ok. Once I purchased the mattress cover...everything was much better. The mattress looks ok when in the sitting position but not great. Is pretty comfortable though. Not a bad purchase, but not great.

the matress is very comfortable. not like other futons. the assembly was a little confusing but not that difficult. the frame is very sturdy overall i think its a great bed! arrived quickly although the matress arrived a few days ahead of the frame. the free shipping was amazing to me, not on dime to ship it .

this item arrived relatively quickly after it was ordered. the finished product seems sturdy, however after it was put together my son and his friend were lying on it and one of the screws popped out. they quickly put it back together and were told there should be no more than one person lying on it at a time. it would be much better if the queen-size mattress came with strings that we could tie to the frame because it slides do to its weight. also, there were a couple of bolt screws missing. we simply went to ***** hardware and purchased them. i figured it would have been much easier than waiting on the parts. a bit of a hassle, but the finished product seems nice.
