  • fix drafts, maybe

    One problem is that the ends are quite large and if you must install them in a cramped amount of space you may find the ends bumping each other if you have adjoining windows. We have angled windows and that happened to us. Not a great result but a temporary fix for the winter. Another problem is that the mounts are too long so that the curtains do not touch the walls. Drafts can definitely come around the sides and top of the curtains. If the mounts were shorter, more air could be blocked. The sections of rod do slide together beautifully. One had a few minor scratches. If you like the bulkiness of the style and don't have to mount them right next to each other on more than one window, these are fine to get. We bought these in the long and short versions. Only one package had a defective screw which was mangled but otherwise all the hardware was in good shape.

  • Bold curtain rod

    I bought these curtain rods for a large living room. The ends are a large 2" diameter, so you would want a larger sized room for this look. I also bought the longer curtain rod for my sliding glass window and without the middle support the rod sags just slightly with the curtains. The 48" to 90" rod supports just fine and doesn't sage in the middle even with the curtains closed. The end round balls are made of plastic but you can't really tell unless you touch them. I also bought the half round curtain tie backs and love the look they give the window.

  • adjustable curtain rod

    I've used these rich, dark brown color rods for 42" windows and recently purchased two of the 144" wide. They are not flimsy! The widest rod works as well with the draperies as the 42". Since the rods come with supports, there is no difficulty in holding the144" length firmly when the draperies are hanging. The price is a third what I would pay for a similar look.. I'm ordering two more of this widest size for another room.

  • look terrific and are quite sturdy

    I was nervous given some of the negative reviews, but I was extremely pleased with these rods especially for the price. They are metal, not plastic. They do expand to a larger width without sagging. I'd buy these again without hesitation.

  • Curtains don't really slide on this

    I bought the grommet top curtains with these rods and the grommets get stuck in the section of the rod where the two ends come together. They do not slide as it is a size able lip for the grommets to get over. So expect the curtains to get stuck and you have to reach up high and pull them over it so they don't tear by tugging. They look fine and where easy to install.

    The only thing negative is that because of the adjustable rod, it's not one smooth rod - meaning that the curtain (grommet top) doesn't close easily. We have to yank it over the edges to close it but it's not a huge deal.

I bought the rod set that expands to 244 inches. Which what they do is send you two rods and you are suppose to combine them in to one. I put it up on my window and because my window is so wide I had to use the center bracket. But, most patio doors are not as wide as my windows I'm pretty sure. If it is the standard patio door, you can get away with buying on of these longer rods and not installing the center bracket. That's my opinion. I haven't tried it so I can't guarantee that that would work. But it is work a try. These rods are really nice for the price. vanmon on May 19, 2013
 
 
I need rods that extend anywhere from 140-160" each. My challenge is that the middle 4' of my regular windows do not have anyplace to mount hardware as there's a 4' wide half-moon transom centered above my windows. 1) Can I securely mount two center brackets about 50-60" off the exact middle (25-30" from each side)?? ; and, if yes, than 2) Do you have Bypass Brackets that will allow C Rings to split to the two side ends of the rod? mythreegirlz on Apr 30, 2013

Thank you mythreegirlz for allowing us to help you with your questions about the Bold Pole 48 to 90-inch Adjustable Curtain Rod Set. Now I found a curtain rod, product number 13129992. It is identical to the one you asked about only it is a curtain rod that spans 144 to 240 inches. That should be long enough for that. Now the Transom window in the middle should have enough room for some sort of support to be mounted to it for the rod support and if it does not and you need to put a couple of off set supports then that should work as well. The large rod comes with enough supports to acomidate this need. Now we do not carry a bypass bracket that you are wanting to use but if you go to one of the 2 big hardware stores,(I can't name them but you know who I am talking about) they carry the bypass bracket you will need. We hope this helps and I appreciate being able to learn a little more today about windows so thank you. Thank you for your business and shopping at Overstock.com. The standard is that rods extended over 72" should have the center brackets mounted, but it may be okay.The two brackets can handle the weight but the center of the rod may sag. I did 5 feet without a center support. It is a bit unstable. I am careful when I close the curtains. I would not go any longer than the 60 inches without the support. dakotanurse on Apr 21, 2013
