This cart has the most versatility due to the double doors for storing larger items. All other carts have tiny doors and drawers so you can't store larger bowls and those items you seldom use. This cart was easy to put together although it did take a little time. The back panel got damaged in shipment somehow but all I had to do was email the company and within 12 hours they responded and within 24 hours shipped out a new piece. No questions asked. What service!
I purchased Black Finish with Oak Top Create-a-Cart for my new studio apt since my kitchen lacks counter space. I was very excited that my purchase was shipped very quickly and was packaged very nicely to ensure that it wouldn't be damaged during shipping. That is the extent of good news that I had with my experience. I had a friend help put the kitchen island together and it took a while seeing as it is a large island with many parts. As we were putting it together we started noticing that pieces did not fit correctly. There were many large gaps in between pieces. Also once everything was put together the drawers did not fit in the island and are now scratching the top of the island to jam shut. The cabinets do not line up and you can easily see this from the front. Also when you open the big center cabinet the left side smaller cabinet pops open because the quality of the island is not measured correctly. I am very disappointed with my purchase because I no longer have the boxing and packaging that the island came in to send it back and these are large heavy packages and it would be a major inconvenience to take it apart and repackage. I have spoke with customer service for the past week emailing back and forth to figure out options as to how we can resolve this issue with my poor quality island and as of right now I have no solution with customer service. They actually sent UPS to pick up the island without my confirmation. I didn't say I was going to take it apart and repackage and yet UPS was at my apt complex asking for a package. This has been a terrible experience and I don't think I will make any larger purchases from Overstock in the future.
I absolutely love the cart. I also had an issue with the shipment where a piece had been broken, but Overstock's service department handled it right away and kept in touch with us every step of the way until the problem was remedied. Thanks for the great service and product.
Once this product is assembled, it's great! Unlike most carts with two or three small cabinets, this one has the big middle cabinet that I was looking for, to fit larger items. I also like that the shelves are adjustable on the inside (there is one shelf per cabinet). It's the perfect size for my kitchen, and it seems to be relatively high quality (real wood except for some of the side/back panels. The only thing is that the top piece moves around after installing it. I don't really mind this but it would be nice if it was a a little more stable. Also worth noting that the drawers are not very deep. As far as the quality of the pieces - I read all of the reviews for these carts, and I really think it's hit or miss whether you get one with or without problems. I think most people will have at least some issues with this. For me, one of the doors came with the spring-loaded pin that replaces the hinge stuck in, rendering it useless (Overstock is replacing). There was also a small chip on one side, but I took care of that with a black sharpie. Other than that - the holes the cabinet pins were supposed to fit into were on the bottom of the piece, not the top - so we had to drill new holes for that. Assembly - if you have any kind of difficulty assembling Ikea furniture and don't have a handy friend you can invite over, this piece is not for you. The instructions are not quite as clear as Ikea instructions and the pieces don't quite fit together all that well. The drawers were kind of a nightmare - the holes you have to drill into are just not big enough - after struggling through the first drawer I pre-drilled the holes on the second one and that helped a lot. All in all it took my husband and I (two children of contractors) probably 4 hours to get fully assembled. If all the pieces fit properly together and the holes were in the right spot, maybe 2-3 hours. I would also say that you need a drill, not just a screwdriver. OVERALL - Great product for the price (as comparable items that are already assembled are $500-$1000)
I purchased 2 of the carts for my kitchen for extra storage and counter space. It's a very sturdy and good looking cart. The drawers are pretty shallow though. It took about an 1 1/2 hrs. to put each one together as there are many pieces. I do believe that they are over priced and should cost around $*** tops. Watch for sales and special to get the best deal. Also consider using ebates to save even more. Overall I am quite please with my purchase
