I love this vacuum !
There was some minor assembly required, but took less that five minutes. The machine is a bit heavy, but still manageable. I had vacuumed a couple of days before I got this one. I did the rugs again. Glad I was alone! It was embrassing the amount of dirt and pet hair it pick up off of what I thought was a clean rug ! This was an excellent purchase ! I use it 2-3 times weekly. The only problems I've noticed is that it is difficult to transition from floor to rug. The dirt container is small and has to be emptied often during a long cleaning session.

Best Vacuum EVER
I have owned about a million vacuum cleaners, this is the best one I have ever owned. I have a cat that sheds like it has a disease or something, WHITE HAIR EVERYWHERE, and I have red couches and dark carpet, hair all over the place drives me crazy. My supposed "cat hair lifting vacuum" wasnt cutting it, I had to use one of those tape roll lift off things also, and some hair was embedded in the carpet. This vacuum sucked it all up! Yes, the container fills up quickly, but it is FULL of hair and dirt-disgusting! It picks up everything. A normal living room and couch/loveseat, you may have to empty the container twice if you have an animal. But all the hair is gone. I have had the vacuum for over a year, use it probably every other day, it has never lost power, it got clogged once in the hose, but was easy to take the hose off and clean it out.

Didn't last a year
I bought this last winter and it didn't even last one year. I have two dogs and a lot of dog hair. The hair and dirt would get sucked into the bucket but i had to empty it every five minutes otherwise it would overflow and get caught up higher in the machine. When this happens you have to dig it out and end up spilling everything you have just vacuumed out on to the floor. After having to take apart the filters and the dirt bucket to clean the machine it several times it started making a weird noise and the light went off and then the whole machine would not turn back on. Also this machine never had good suction especially on the hoses. Also for anyone with hardwood floors and rugs this vacuum would not go from floor to rug with out having to pick the entire thing up to lift it onto the rugs. Quite a pain in the back. I would not buy another Bissell nor recommend one to a friend.

Good purchase
The only complaint I have on this machine is it is very light compared to my old vacuum. I used to be able to use the attachments a bit aggresively without tipping the vacuum over. Now this new one, although it's MUCH better at sucking things up, falls over constantly every time I try to use the attachments. I guess I'll get used to it.

Excellent choice
Got tired of paying high prices for vacuums so I tried this one. Used my money back with Overstock (hooray!) and saved a lot. This vacuum works as well or better than the higher priced ones I have purchased in the past. I do recommend it.

Looks nice, but...
While I would love to say this is the greatest vacuum I've ever owned; I cannot. After an uneventful assemble I began to try out the unit and was impressed not only by the amount of cat hair and other debris it removed from my carpets, but also how well the portable power brush worked on my stairs and couches. If only this would have continued. A few days later I again did my house cleaning and while the vacuum still seemed to pick up quite a bit, the power brush stopped spinning and I had to aggressively scrape it against my carpeted stairs in order to vacuum them. In addition, much of the dirt collected now resides in the see through filter directly above the collection bin. Even after unscrewing the filter and cleaning everything out, it quickly refills. I gave this three stars as I do still see it picks up a great deal from the carpets, although not necessarily into where it should and that the power brush attachment is now solely used as a decoration on the front as it doesn't work.

Powerful and Easy to Use
This vacuum is great. The suction is powerful and picks up everything on my floors. The multiple height settings make it useful on both my hardwood floors and my area rugs. The hand-held section detaches from the rest very easily and is light enough to carry all over the house. I can also easily carry the whole unit up or down a flight of stairs; I'm in my thirties but not particularly strong. Overall, I am very pleased with this product.

Not good!
I have only had this vacuum for 3 years and it died. I've never been very happy with it. We have area rugs and bare wood floors. Unfortunately, on the wood floors I HAD to use the brush option (which causes some scratches) because after a few months if I did not use the brush mechanism it would not pick up. It loses suction even when the cup is not full. Once in a while it will become difficult to pull backwards when vacuuming the rug and I have no idea why. It kind of pulls and grabs/drags over the carpet and is very difficult to pull backwards, but is fine going forward. ?? The hose to use attachments with is way too short to get the top of my drapes (I'm short) without getting up on a stool. The plastic that holds the hose in place broke off about 2 years ago and the hose has hung there ever since making it irritating and it gets in the place (perhaps this was good because if this hose was longer I don't know what I would have done). The attachment for upholstery has short bristles and the other side that it flips to is useless as it has no bristles, just hard ridged edges. The suction hole on the attachment is not very big so there is too little suction. AND, the vacuum tips over backwards terribly easily if you are using it to clean upholstery. I don't buy vacuums to only last a couple of years and I will not be buying a Bissell again.

Good vacuum for the price
I spent about half the price of a Dyson by purchasing this vacuum. It was a wise financial decision. Very sturdy vacuum with great attachment features. So much better for stairs than my other upright vacuum and really does the job against pet hair. I have a garfield kitty that sheds like a beast and I'm pretty content with the job this vacuum does. The cord is warped already from wrapping it around the designated cord wrap pegs, and I can foresee this maybe being an issue. I'm so glad I didn't spend any more getting a more expensive vacuum.

- Please tell us about the quality of the product. Sturdy vacuum with good suction power and definitely a good enemy for pet hair. The cord is maybe not the highest quality and I can see it being an issue in the future.
