  • Does a stellar job on new flooring

    This mop is a no-brainer to set up and use. It heats up super quick and the floors, provided that they are newer, look amazing. I'd recommend "going with the grain" on the hardwood floors and not leaving it in place when you go to unplug the electrical cord (it will leave a mophead-shaped marlk on the floor where it is sitting. Otherwise, this little mop is a dandy!

    I needed to replace a 'Monster' steam mop, repaired once. I read all the reviews of all the models. And chose the Bissell on the firm's long time good name. I am very happy with it, especially how it will swivel 360 degrees. It is low so gets in next to things: cupboards, toilet, baseboards. And heats up rapidly, and you can refill the water tank as needed, not have to wait for unit to cool off. Also the pads wrap around with elastic and are nice and thick. The price is very good, I paid 2X that for mine and was so happy with having a steam mop, I ordered 'Monsters' for four daughters and daughter-in-law. Theirs are working fine, mine was the floor model/demonstrator so may be reason it didn't last as long. But I am so happy with my new Bissell steam mop was a good price and fast shipping from Overstock.com.

    Bought a new Shark 6 months ago but no matter how slow or how many times I went over our stone floor a simple wet towel swipe would still bring up oodles of dirt. Thought I would try the Bissell 1940 based upon the reviews. WOW night & day difference. The mop picks up so much more dirt. In fact the cotton mops get so dirty they are hard to get clean afterwards. You can see the difference especially in the kitchen around our well used Viking stove.

    This has probably been one of my best investments this year. I can say I was truly amazed how easily the steamer glides over the floors and the results are amazing. When I think of all the hours I use to mop and scrub and worked tirelessly to clean my kitchen and laundry room floors, I can't begin to tell you how pleased I was when I used the steamer and was actually finished in less than one hour total! No bending, no getting on my knees, clean baseboards. DONE!

  • Does this mop have a scrubbing action? I have ceramic tile that has an uneven, pitted surface. So far, the best way to really clean it is with a scrub brush.

    • I am replacing one just like this, in fact it was still covered on the 2yr replacement plan I bought, and in researching all steam mops online, this one is the most highly recommended, I was very happy with it, until recently when it stopped steaming, water heated but no steam! just loved it.

  • Hello. I have had this mop since August and it has stopped working. The water does not get hot and it no longer makes that percolating sound that it's supposed to make as it is heating up. I see that this product has a 2 year warranty. How do I go about returning this for a new mop?

    • Hello 001happyshopper, The steam mop is ready to clean in approximately 30 seconds. When the indicator light on the front of the unit comes on, you’re ready to clean. During the first use, however, it might take a little longer to begin steaming, as the water needs to flow through the filter to the heater. This delay will only occur during the initial use or when using a new filter. It sounds like you are on the right track. I just want to mention a few things. First, vinegar and water can be used on your floor to eliminate streaks, but it can't be used in your steam mop. Please feel free to contact us again with any further questions.
