The picture did not really show the true taxicab yellow of the chairs. Everything went together easily with the instructions until you get to the part where you obviously need a screw gun to complete the assembly. It was a bit scary. The table got beat up in the shipping, there is not enough styrofoam packing material around the edges.

Just put this together last night. Looks great in our retro kitchen. Had to do a little tweaking for chair backs, to visually center them, and one chair needed the legs bent slightly to get rid of a lean, but overall, went together very simple. I assembly lined the process, by doing one step at a time, on all four chairs. Made the process fast and painless. The color is stellar. Purchased a retro table set (napkin holder, straw dispenser, ketchup and mustard containers, salt and pepper, sugar container, creamer container), and set them on a plastic red tray. Looks just like a retro diner. Very sturdy. The whole family loves it.

I really like the look of the table and chairs. Please be advised that I am single. If you have a family who will be using this set than you'd better be looking elsewhere. The veneer on the table is easily scratched off and the chairs are cheaply made. With that said, I like the look of the set. Fit nicely in my kitchen and the retro look is darling. Was concerned with the previous revews but found that I had no problem with the packaging. If I had wanted an original retro I would have paid a lot more money. Do not expect a high quality piece. Looks good and works well for me in my home.

This table set is absolute garbage. I was weary when I read the other reviews but I assumed they were isolated pieces. I was wrong. The package arrived with holes in it from transit. Upon opening the box, I noticed that one of my chair seats was COVERED in tar splotches. I tried to clean them off but that only scratched and ripped the material on the seat. As far as assembly goes, you may want to acquire a degree in mechanics or carpentry before attempting it. The pieces are not clearly labeled and trial and error is the only way to figure out how they go. It also takes the strength of Hercules to get the screws into the seat. In summary, DO NOT BUY THIS TABLE!That said, overstock.com was AMAZINGLY helpful with regards to fixing the problem. They understood my concern and were very willing to accept the return for a full refund. This piece of junk table is no reflection at all on the company. Do not be afraid to buy from them because if you are not happy, they will make it right!
