This is the first time I've purchased anything like this, and overall I'm pleased. My wife recognized Yosemite straight-away, and thinks she may have seen the original at a recent exhibition. I wasn't sure how it would look in person- well, it doesn't look like it's a painting. The texture of the canvas shows very clearly, but there are no brush strokes. One of the things I like about Bierstadt is the way his paintings draw me in- and this doesn't quite draw me in. Maybe it's the size- much smaller than his paintings (at least the ones I've seen) and the brush strokes.
My wife really likes the painting- I do too, but I think it could have been a bit better.
This piece is lovely--the colors are slightly more muted than what is portrayed in the Overstock photo, though. That being said, however, I will tell you that I am very happy with this purchase. It is lovely--very peaceful and serene.
