I have been looking for an affordable juicer for my home and had seen the Better Chef in department stores for up to six times what I paid. It is a great and much used addition to my kitchen and will make it much eaiser to make the juice I love from my fresh fruith and veggies from the garden.
Great Juice! Too much work cleaning it up. The juice many times leaks from the sides making a mess, got to be very careful! But... for the price paid, is not so bad!
I have read all reviews on this product and I guess I have been pretty lucky in that : It never NEVER has leaked, I mainly do carrots and using the flat side of butter knife on back side of screen under COLD water is best, if you use warm water, the root material will expand and stay in more difficult. I LOVE this juicer and since I need to start eating better, juicing and using blender with yogart and blackbeery and blueberry bannana smoothies gives me my daily fruit and fiber added and protein pwder.....I like it so well I plan on buying a couple more as I usually am done Christmas shopping by November. If you do something like carrots and other root veggies and like fruit as well like a V8 Frusion, do your fruit after root veggies and will push and lubricate the root materia stuck in and make it come out or easier. For exrra healthy tips: Use the pulp, esp from carrots, to add to bannana bread or zukini or basic carrot bread but you can eliminate alot if not all the flour for a rather dense fiber muffin and add frozen berries to the muffins in pan before putting in oven so it is a more fresh berrie rather than mush. Potato fiber/mush is a great way of making hash browns that are more like potato pancakes or latkes (SP?) orange and any fruit, the juice emulsified with fiber makes jam, and can be Kosher by not using gelatin but non-animal gelatin found in same place in grocery lemons juiced and the waste is good for putting on fish while baking, be creative since it did not come with any recipe book, reason I gave it one less star.
I ordered this item due to its reviews and affordability. When I first used the juicer, it leaked a little, but the juice turned out well. The next time I used it juice leaked all over the counter. Overstock was very helpful in replacing the item. However, the replacement still leaked. I was shocked at how much juice was lost to to the leakage. I think this was caused by how much liquid there was still left in the pulp. It spilled from that side. The pulp and liquid compartments were just too loose.
This little machine is a good idea but the opening to fit the vegies thru is very small. You 'll have to split your carrots in halve and if they are the big ones you need to split them perhaps one more time. Thats the bad thing i found with this machine. The good thing is that it does work ok as long that you use small veggies . Is it worth the money ? Yes it is. It is good for one or two persons, not for a family of 4.
This juicer does work fine with tough items like carrots (my favorite), however, the clear plastic components crack easily. The chute in the lid already has several cracks. Additionally, the seals around each of the hoppers (one front to catch juice, one back to catch waste) are insufficient and frequently leak juice while the juicer is in operation. This is more prevalent when juicing items with higher liquid content like grapefruit and orange. Given this is my first juicer ever, I didn't want to spend much. Like I said, it does the job--even if it's messy at times.
Easy to clean and assemble. Juices well leaving behind dry pulp. Small compact size
it makes great tasting juice but the problem is that it dont exstract all the juice it leaves all this left over skin from the fruits and veggies and they still have lots of juice left in them and the blade is so hard to get clean it's not worth the money,i'd rather buy the one off tv.
This is a great product - a powerful little juicer. Finally a juicer that is easy to clean so you can use it every day.
Easy to use and very quick and easy to clean. Does mess a little and if you cut fruit/vegetables too small, does not process.
It is just what I needed and wanted. I would recommend this item to others.
I used this product twice. I juced carrots both times. The organic carrots jamed at times, and I had to use a cloth sieve to strain out the finer dregs from the juice that collected in the class container. The juicer 's outer finish was badly stained as well as the inside parts. I am not at all happy with this product because of the stains.
Bought 2 on separate occassions as the first one failed to operate. Neither did the 2nd one. I followed the directions to the tee and it would not turn on.
For Starters, Its a great looking devise and very sturdy. It works well as long as you follow instructions to the "T", You do have to cut up your fruits and veggies very small and narrow to fit into the shoot. Cleaning the Strainer/cutter is where you're going to run into a fix. It is hard to clean, a brush is not the answer at all! However, I did try a few things until, I came across a simple butter knife...(the flat end not the cutting end) just use it to scrub gently up and down the strainer while running warm water over the strainer at the same time is the answer. This works best for me....over all I expected more, but this little machine works fine for the price I paid. Just have patients and you will learn to like or love this little machine. This is my first juicer.
This is a great starter product for anyone new to juicing vegetables. The juicer is sturdy, fits easily and securely together, and has surprisingly high torque that enables it to gnaw through large amounts of fruits and vegetables. I was careful at first to remove all seeds and skins before juicing, but soon discovered that isn't really necessary. The Better Chef has no problem dealing with them. This juicer is best suited for a single user. It's small so it only accommodates one person at a time easily. My only complaint about the Better Chef at this point is that cleanup can be tedious. But this is my first juicer, so it may be that all of them are similar in that regard.
Easy to use, easy to clean up. It does leak while it is juicing, even though it has been put together properly. It comes apart for a quick clean-up. It is worth the price for the amount of times I will have occasion to use it.
More compact size than most others and relatively easy clean up. Compared to other over-size juicers that I've had in the past, I'll definitely be more inclined to use this frequently.
The juicer came and it did not work at all, it also had a chunck missing out of it.
The Better Chef Fruit Vegetable Juice Extractor was one of my 2008 best buys. My girlfriend spent over $100.00 on a fancier looking one that leaks, spills and a pain to dismantle when done. The Juicer is definitely a rugged/ user-friendly kitchen "must have".
I purchased this because it seemed to be a good value. I was surprised to find out that the feeder tube was actually a kidney-shaped opening within the diameter shown in its image. It's too new for me to have any comment about its durability.
