The breakfast island was the right compact size for my daughter's new studio apartment.I had our Handy Man assemble the two stools and island; he is really good at doing jobs like this.It took him three hours to complete the project. He mentioned the quality of the product was poor.The instructions stated the towel bar could be assembled on either side of the island and that was not true; it could not be done. Both drawers on the island came damanged. One drawer had chips on the bottom. The face of the other drawer was not glued to the drawer. Our Handy Man glued theface of the drawer to the drawer to complete the assembly. Now we will need to use sand paper tosmooth the chips on the bottom of the other drawer and find the right color stain to complete the repair. The only reason I did not send the product back was it was the right compact size that we needed. Overall, I was very disappointed to receive a damaged product.
This piece of furniture fitted well into that empty space in the middle of my kitchen. I had a tempered glass plate made to cover the upper surface and kept it from slipping by a non-slip shelf-lining material. It did come with a minor "ding" on one corner, but I covered it up with brown polish. It was not worth dismantling it all and sending it back.
This product is beautifully unique and completely functional -it's use is unlimited: sort mail, do monthly bills, writing desk, food buffet and of course cooking prep space, etc. Make sure you visualize the measurements only because the size is unusual. The only risk is shipping -my first table arrived with a broken table top. However, Overstock.com with their excellent customer service gladly remedied the problem. It took a little longer for me to receive my order but overall I am still a happy customer.
