Very pleased indeed with this futon. I was worried the red might be too bright and garish but is a really nice shade and the overall look is really really nice, exactly like the illustration. It is extremely comfortable too, both for sitting and for use as a bed. It does have quite a few nuts bolts, etc, to put it together but it wasn't that difficult, took my husband and I about an hour and a half, and it was well worth the effort. LOVE it!!
Can not go wrong with this futon. It has an all wood frame and a nice coil spring style mattress that sleeps somewhat firm and is much better than the really cheap bunk bed style mattresses. This bed is of really good quality and is perfect for small or multiple functioning rooms. Highly recommend.
I was initially concerned about a bad rating--after buying this futon and setting it up, I felt that it needed a boost. The overall futon looks great and is surprisingly comfortable as a couch or a bed. Folding it into a bed is a cinch, folding it into a couch requires an extra hand or foot as IT IS A FUTON. It came in two heavy boxes and one light box which were very hard to lug up 4 flights of stairs, but again, this is no fault of the manufacturers. The cons: 1. My box had a hole in the top and some slats were hanging right out. I thought this was because some slats are longer, but no, stuff had started to slip out. 2. Two metal elbows were bent in a slightly obtuse angle. I used the chat function at Overstock.com and minutes later had a request for new parts put in. To make a long story short, I screwed in the pieces anyway and it worked fine, but I had great customer service and spare parts mailed to me just in case. So those aren't really cons. Despite the poor packaging and need for extra inspection of parts, I have a great looking futon with a beautiful finish and the most comfortable futon mattress in my experience. You might have some trouble putting it together if that's not your thing, but for some context, it was much easier to put together than Ikea furniture and without those cheap plastic, one-shot brackets. The slats were COLOR CODED AND NUMBERED. With a little pre-reading and setup, you can't go wrong. But do take the instructions seriously when they suggest that two people place the futon bed in the frame--I had to do it myself and, again, can't fault the manufacturers for what happened. But the futon is great, if I had more rooms I'd buy two.
I will start with the positives. I like the look and feel of this couch and the delivery was fast! It is also has a very comfortable mattress. The futon looks almost as pictured. And now the negatives...The color was right on, but the buttons look very cheap in person. The futon came in three HEAVY boxes that was delivered to the mail room of my apartment building. So i had to lug 50-70 lbs for EACH Box to my third floor apartment! Then when I opened the boxes there were literally 1000 screws, pins and wood pieces! I'm not sure how people put this together by themselves. My friend happened to be in town so she helped me and it still took us about 3+ hours to put it together. But that's not the worst part... the worst part is that after following the directions step-by-step and 3+ grueling hours of assembling the frame.... the futon does NOT easily convert from bed to couch. It easily goes down to bed easily, but getting it back up to couch position is nearly impossible. I thought I did something wrong so I took off the mattress and had my other friend review all of the work we did and everything looked good to him, but it wont convert! I don't get it! I say, put your money towards something else!
