I bought this bed for my 2 year old who is already transitioning into a big girl bed. This is a well made and a sturdy bed. Took a little while to put together, but well worth it. It was well worth the money spent. I bought the memory foam mattress which was a perfect choice for this platform bed.

I had searched for several months for a bed for our guest room and could not find something that matched what I had in mind -- I was thinking shabby chic-ish. When I saw this bed at Overstock the price made me think it was worth giving it a try. I bought the queen size in "black walnut". The bed is very well constructed, with extra support legs in the middle, and after putting on our box spring and mattress my husband and I both thought it was nicer than our bed! We are considering putting it in our room. It is not black, but rather an older brass/bronze kind of look, which I was hoping for. One of the nicer things about this bed is that the headboard does not come up super high. We have it under a window and so many of this style bed have excessively tall headboards -- something to be aware of if you are in the market for a new bed. Overall, this is an excellent value for the price. It is not a beautiful antique, but it looks nice enough and is sturdy.

I was actually planning on making a bed from scratch (so yes, I'm handy) but gave this one a chance since it was such a good price and solid wood. I'm happy I did. I assembled it myself with very few problems. The only mixup I made are the cross railings that go along the side of the bed I attached upside down the first time (the diagram doesn't indicate the curved top edge from the straight-cut edge that should be on the bottom.) My only surprise and minor disappointment was the fact that there are 4 small support legs on the interior of the bed. They will definitely make the bed more sturdy, but since the bed stands fairly high you can actually see them from a distance or in a mirror. They were not viewable in the photograph. Regardless, I'm still happy with the purchase.

Love the bed but instructions could have been a little clearer.

After reading some reviews, I was prepared for some difficulty, but all parts were in the box. Because of the low price, I would not have been upset if I had to provide an extra screw or two or even a support slat. I am a competent amateur carpenter; it took me less than 2 hours to assemble, without significant problems. However, I worked very carefully because of comments in other reviews. The supporting slats are fairly thin, but in a sufficient quantity to support an 8 inch memory foam mattress. The wood is attractive and the walnut finish is exactly the color of walnut. Those who order certain finishes should be familiar with the color of the wood. We are not heavy people and the bed is in a second home, so it is not used every night. So far, we are very happy with it. Not sure it would be appropriate for nightly use by folks with a combined weight over 300 pounds. With those provisos, I would recommend it.

I absolutely love this bed. It has a sleek, modern look and quality construction. It was a little difficult to assemble, as many others have said, but it wasn't complicated. You should have a power screwdriver with you before you begin assembly. With the help of my father, we had it together in about an hour, and I just love it.

With a bit of patience, or a flex bit extender for your drill you can put this together in an hour and a half. Just READ the instructions, and follow them. I know guys do not like to do it this way, but it works. We are very happy with our bed.

Beautiful bed. Very sturdy. Exactly the size from the description. Just what we were looking for. FYI: It shipped in 3 boxes, numbered. We would have rated it 5 stars, but it was a little difficult to setup. Still pretty easy, but there is some room for improvement. Specifically, the slots to fit the hex wrench tool for tightening the bolts is too small, so tightening the bolts takes unnecessarily long. Also, each slat is screwed in with individual screws, individually spaced. We used a hand screw-driver for each of these screws and it does work, but it would have been a lot faster if we had a power tool for installing the slats.

I purchased this bed (along with the matching dresser and two night stands) and the bed is excellent quality. It has a Mid Century Modern vibe with the peg style legs and the wood is a beautiful dark satin brown. It tends to be more brown then red in color and matches nicely with other woods such as walnut and wenge. It feels sturdy and was easy to put together ... it took more time to unpack it then it did to assemble it. I estimate 30 minutes if you have a cordless screw driver or 50 minutes if you use a phillips.

Matched some walnut dressers we had. Bed went together easily, is very sturdy. The look is fantastic, headboard is just right, not too high, not too low. We have multiple pillows and you can still see the top part of the headboard, but it is not over powering. Using with a Sealy 12" thick mattress and it is perfect. The footboard is nice, not too high, but it keeps all the bedding in place when folded down. Very happy with this purchase, definitely recommend to others.

We have a latex mattress and had been using a basic frame. I didn't realize what a difference this bed could make. The 13 slats support the mattress beautifully. It looks great - just like the picture. Don't be freaked when you open the boxes and find a lot of black - it is all hidden. They recommend 2 people to put this together, but I did it by myself to surprise my husband. I only disagree with one thing on the directions. You really do need to use a screw gun on this thing - I would've never made it through all of those screws by hand.

I bought the bed along with the matching seven drawer dressor and night stands. They all look fabulous and went together with no problem. You MUST have an electric screwwdiver though or it will really though. It does take a little while to put together but not a bad process and they look and work great.

This bed looks great. It is very solid and looks great. To me, the finish is more walnut than cherry --they call it "walnut-cherry." (which is fine). It took my husband alone about 90 minutes to put it together (which includes trips to the basement for appropriate tools). However, he is a pretty handy guy, so plan accordingly. Once together it is an amazingly sturdy product. It looks much more expensive than it is. We looked at a number of "real" furniture stores in our area and this was by far the best value of anything we saw in the stores. Remember, it is a very low bed. The low foot board makes it easy to make. I had a lot of trepidation about buying furniture online, but all the reviews won me over. Trust them!

This bed is beautiful and amazing quality. Well worth the price... Well worth far more than the price (and it looks like I paid far more for it). The wood is solid with a gorgeous grain, and the stain is very rich. Even the slats are very solid; I've had platform beds with supposedly solid wood slats where the wood was light and fragile. Never had any of them break but also never felt 100% secure sleeping on them. I have no such qualms about these slats. Appearance and quality-wise, I could not be happier with the bed. The assembly was a complete nightmare. I don't know what some of these other reviewers are talking about, but I cannot believe anyone was able to assemble this bed easily or alone. The headboard alone took myself and my boyfriend, who is very good at things like this, two hours to put together, and by the end of it my guy was practically sobbing with frustration. You have to screw the headboard together using an allen wrench in a tiny little space, and the angle is such that the wrench gets stuck... It's awful. AWFUL. The rest of the bed was easier, thank god, but I would not wish the headboard on my worst enemy. Also, the other reviewers are correct that a drill with a phillips bit to get the screws through the slats and into the supports is very necessary. Don't let my assessment of the assembly frighten you away from buying this bed. It was worth it given the beauty and quality we ended up with. But don't go into it expecting it to be easy, because it is just NOT.

I got this bed because of the price and that I was not getting chipboard material for that price and that the design is not the same as all the other beds in the market! its made of rubberwood - which might not be as good as oak or teak or walnut but it is sturdy. this bed is white so i dont think it matters as much that its not one of those woods. you cant actually see the grain anyway. this is sturdy and really pretty to look at. it did have an initial smell when we set it up but its been almost 2 weeks now and the smell has been reduced and will hopefully go away completely. it was fairly easy to put it and didnt take us more than a couple of hours. but it did not have holes in the slats and we were required to screw them up to the rails. so if you are buying this please be sure you have a drill with you. it was about maybe 30 screws that we had to screw in. other than that there was nothing else that was difficult. the rest of it was up in like 10 minutes. its a pretty bed for a very good price. i would definitely recommend.

The design of this bed is lovely, and the construction/assembly also seemed good. Sadly, the materials used are poor, resulting in an unacceptably (very thin) veneer that chips so easily that I did not keep the bed. The veneer seems to be on pressed paper board (clearly not plywood or even particle board) that provides little base for the veneered edges. Parts arrived chipped, and others chipped in my hand - no hard bump or anything - just picking it up. This also accounts for the weight - not heavy solid hardwood, rather pressed paper with lots of glue (I assume). If not for Overstock's excellent customer service that brought this to a satisfactory conclusion, I would have been very upset with this purchase. I do NOT recommend.

I like this bed even more than I thought I would. It's very sturdy, and I love the contemporary style. The dark wood goes well with other pieces in my bedroom but, because the headboard is so open, it isn't overwhelming or heavy. Another reviewer complained about how high his bed was once the mattress and box springs were on it -- it's not meant for use with box springs, only with a mattress. The height is perfect for me -- not too high and not too low. It probably took my patient husband about 3 hours to put the bed together. Highly recommend this to anyone considering purchasing it.
