This has been the best fryer I've owned so far. Heats up quickly and has absolutely no problem retaining oil temp while frying. We cooked dozens of wings and fries for a large crowd and were done cooking in less than half the time as usual and was able to enjoy the party with everyone else instead of spending the day cooking! Clean up is a breeze also! Very we'll designed and overall quality was excellent
The fryer is very easy to assemble when it arrives, but you definitely will need to wash it out thoroughly with warm soap and water as there is a film left over from the manufacturing process. I've used the deep fryer a few times so far, to make chicken tenders, fresh cut french fries, and donuts. It takes about 20 minutes to heat the oil up to 350 degrees. The oil temperature stays pretty high even when you put frozen things into the deep fryer like the chicken tenders. The food comes out great and the deep fryer is easy to use. I have two slight cautions/complaints that you should be aware of. First, when the fryer is on it is LOUD, like jet engine loud, due to the the way the ignited propane is funneled through the hollow tube to heat the oil. Second, it is somewhat difficult to maintain control of the temperature of the deep fryer since there is no automatic control to for example set the fryer to 350, and leave it there. You have to manually adjust the flow of the propane. If you are continually frying, you can pretty much get it to the right temperature and set the valve and its fine. But, if there is lag time in between batches of what you are frying, leaving the valve on one setting will still cause the oil to continue getting hotter and hotter. My solution for each of the issues I've raised has pretty much been to get the oil hot enough to cook what I want and then basically turn off the propane until the oil drops below my desired frying temperature. All in all this is a great fryer and I have really enjoyed having it. The food cooks through just like a restaurant fryer, and it get hot enough that the food does not come out soggy with oil--a problem I used to face with my counter top electric fryer.
I purchased this fryer for my husband's birthday. We love to fry fish and it used to cost us a lot of money because after one use we would have to throw out the grease, not to mention stink up the house! With the new fryer, we are able to use the oil over and over again AND there is no mess or stench to get rid of. We love it and would definitely recommend it to all of our friends and family.
Absolutely the best fryer that I have used. Before I was throwing away oil that was darkened and smelled burned with this fryer we have used it every weekend for the last month to fry fish, chicken, fries, and veggies all using the same peanut oil and the oil still tastes and smells like peanut oil should. I would recommend this fryer to anyone that likes to fry foods.
Husband and brothers love this!! Cooks in less than half the time with EASE!! Fabulous product, especially for family gatherings. Clean up is EASY! Also purchased the cart to go with and that made it even easier to use, clean up, and put away!!
I read many reviews on this and other outdoor fryers. We decided on this one and couldn't be happier. We were torn between this 4 gallon and the 2.5 version. After our first fry, we are happy that we went with the 4 gallon. The key feature is having 2 baskets. You can be cooking different foods at the same time. We really went all out for our first fry. There was really no recovery time due to the oil temp dropping. After being really pleased with how she cooked, when it came to clean up, I was especially happy. It was a snap. I actually did it the next day. I heated the oil back up to around 100. The large drain ball valve and hose made for quick no spill draining back into the oil container. Then a little dawn dish soap and fill the unit with warm water to the burner and gave her a quick wash, and then open the drain and hose it out. Super simple. It cleaned up like new for the next time. Note: read the directions thoroughly. There is much needed info. Long story short, we'd buy this exact unit again.
