Ensure your brew or food cooks at just the right temperature by keeping an eye on the conveniently placed thermometer.

Prepare the kettle to make the next batch by easily removing the spigot and thermometer to wash and sterilize the stainless steel interior. Cook with without worry knowing the domed lid includes vents to let off excess steam and pressure. Empty the kettle from the handy spigot, which features a bulkhead fitting to easily connect drain hoses.

    The kettle is a little thin, but appears to heat evenly and no burns on my first three batches. I only wish I had bought the false bottom to hold the grain off of the thermometer, since on my first batch i overheated the water because the grain was surrounding the thermometer giving a false reading. Lesson learned and the last two boils were good to go. I am not sure about longevity due to thin materials but it is currently doing a great job.

  • Works with induction cooktops

    My main concern with this was that it would work with an induction cooktop - the fact that a magnet does NOT stick to the bottom is not a good indicator, as it heated nicely with my Avantco 120V cooktop. You do have to assemble the temperature probe and the spigot, which is fine, because any weldless setup, you need to finesse the installation to make sure it doesn't leak. the key is not to overtighten; let the o-rings do their job. All-in all, good 10 gallon pot for the price.

    I paid considerable more for this kit 3 years ago and just stumbled across the deal Overstock is having on it while searching for a friend. I've brewed hundreds of gallons of beer since buying this kettle. It makes brew day so much more enjoyable and easy. The quality is outstanding and the false bottom combined with the mesh filter makes keeping cold break material and hops seed out of the fermenter a breeze.

  • Good value for the price.

    I was looking to upgrade from my turkey fryer pot without spending a fortune and this kettle was the perfect solution. It does everything I need for half the price of some other brands. Assembly was easy, and the wrenches and thread tape were included. I'm still mashing in my home built orange cooler tun, so I chose to skip the false bottom and save some cash. My only complaint is with the safety latch on the valve. You have to lift it up to open or close the valve, which could be a problem if you need to close the valve quickly. I solved this easily by bending one of the release tabs with my pliers. Now it still can't open accidentally, but closes without any interference. If you're the kind of person who drives a Toyota rather than a Lexus, this is the kettle you want. It's a solid choice for the price.

    • I make home made hot sauce for a hobby and I like the spigot and thermometer. This will help me move up to larger batches. The spigot on the bottom will help in bottling, the thermometer will help with quality control. Stainless steel is important, aluminum can be affected by acidic values, depending on what I'm making. This is a hobby and not a commercial enterprise, so I'm not ready to spend the prices at the commercial restaurant supply companies for commercial-grade products .... yet.

    • 8 gallon is a little small to brew 5gal of beer with brew in a bag. 15gal is a bit big. Had temp gauge and spigot. All for under $200

  • Does this product have a filter on the inside to strain out the hops? Do you have any pictures of the inside?

    • It doesn't have a filter, or a false bottom. That's a different model.

    • No. There is no strainer for hops. The thermometer does have a probe that sticks 3" into the middle and the valve too. It makes it a little weird to stir.

    • No strainer included, but you can buy a separate screw on tube screen to fit for under ****. I just use a regular household strainer to catch the debris as I drain it into my fermenter, and that works fine for me. The measuring markings are helpful, and the thermometer doesn't bother me. My chiller coil still fits fine, and stirring isn't much harder, once you get used to it.
