Spent too much time browsing Lowe's, Home Depot etc for a solution to hang our curtains at a bay window. Stumbled across this product at Overstock and thougt it was worth the try.
The package came complete with all needed hardware at a competitive price (when buying all pieces separately in a hardware store).
We followed the instructions, and were at first a bit nervous when the instructions started with "unless you understand this, the installation will be incorrect" - or something like those words.
It was as easy as slicing bread. It took me (double-left-handed) about 1 hour to put up the rod with the associated hardware. Since you are supposed to install the curtains while you put up the rod sections, we were completely done after that 1 hour. We used curtains with gammon rings, but are pretty sure it would work as easy with the clip rings.
The rod looks neutral (we bought the antique brown), and the rod edges at the side windows are nicely turned to the wall - they form another anchor point witha single screw providing extra stability.
We used relatively light curtains, and would not recommend this for heavy curtains since the "bump" (where the rod extends and jumps from the smaller to the larger diameter) may be harder to take. We however experience no difficulty, just have to guide the curtain gently.
We had seen similar solutions at other stores, but this one was the best deal, looks and proves solid and comes with all hardware included. Buy this one if you need a bay window rod.
This rod enabled me to hang drapes from a bay window with uneven spacing. It is easy to adjust as you mount it and not too difficult to install if you are handy and experienced at hanging shades and rods. I would not recommend this for a 'first timer'. The rod is sturdy and the only problem was one screw hole that was too small and needed enlargement.
Let me start off by saying that this is the first time I've ever rated something this low. I received this curtain rod very quickly (as is usual for Overstock). It seems pretty sturdy and would work for my bay window. Well, I got the back rod installed with relative ease. When I went to install the side arms, that's when I ran into problems. The extensions on the side arms are jammed in so tight, I can't extend them. And this is on both side arms! If it was just one I would think it was a fluke, but it's both. That makes this pretty much unusable. Besides that, the box it came in was so mangled by the delivery service that I can't even use it to return this. So, unless I can find another box, I can't even return it. That's *** down the drain. I'm completely disappointed by this transaction. I'm getting to the point where I don't want to do anything online because it becomes such a hassle when it goes wrong.
My husband just hung this in our nursery bay window this weekend. We have 13 ft. ceilings so we needed a sturdy rod to hold 4 very heavy drapery panels. This rod was a perfect fit. He kept saying what good quality it was as he installed it. It took him a little longer than normal to install, but it was exactly what we needed in such a weird window.
Easy to install for 2 people who are not mechanically inclined. We did not use the two end screws, which makes it easier to change window treatments. Our treatments are not heavy and the 4 bracket were sturdy.
I was looking for a curtain rod to accommodate the two bay windows in my new home. I was looking for something I could hang grommet top sheers on. This rod is nice in that the depth from the wall is adjustable from 3" to 5" so it will accommodate most any curtain you might want to hang. The instructions for installing are very clear and easy to understand. They were a breeze to put up.
Check your order though, if you're ordering more than one, as I ordered two brown ones and got one brown and one black. Apparently order checking is NOT a priority as the color was clearly marked on the box.
The rod arrived within a week of ordering. The directions were sparse, but installation was reasonably simple. The only complaint is the plastic anchor bolts were flimsy, but our curtain panels are lightweight so not a worry for us. If using heavy draperies, you will want to use more sturdy anchors. We like the way the rod allows the drape to wrap around the end and touch the wall - there is no decorative knob, and no light comes in the sides. Our bay window has narrow walls, so to eliminate that knob was the perfect answer for our application.
Am I the only one that is having trouble with this curtain rod? I've ordered two sets now, and of the 4 side arms, only one will extend. That is also the only one of the 4 sides that has an insert that will allow the elbow to screw in. Did I get two sets that were returned for being faulty??? I've spent hours trying to loosen the sides so they will extend, but with no luck!jjkansascity on Aug 12, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question

Hello cab2014, the pewter color in each item appear to be the same color, they should match perfectly fine. We try to represent the colors of our products accurately, but unfortunately due to the difference in monitor colors we cannot guarantee that the color will match exactly what you see on your screen. Are the wall brackets adjustable or stationary? I want to move the corner brackets to the center of the rod. Is that possilbe?mrshome on May 7, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello mrshome, This rod is beautiful! The brackets are separate from the rod so you can choose exactly where they would go as long as the brackets are placed in a position to hold the rod stable. I hope this information helps. Thanks for shopping with us.overstockcustomercare1 on May 28, 2014

at the very end, where the two side rods curve back around to the wall, is there a 'bracket' to secure the ends of the side rods to the wall?brian954 on Aug 28, 2012Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
I ordered these rods but the sides are too small to fit the window (although I did measure carefully before I placed the order). I've noticed some reviews mention extenders. How do I get hold of these extenders or do you have any other suggestions as how to make the sides longer?patticay on Jul 8, 2012Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
