Very high-end look
I love these! They look so sleek and modern in my loft. I bought two, and have them upright and side by side against a wall. They don't take up much room, and the varying size shelves are perfect for displaying both books and knicknacks. I was able to assemble and place them myself with no assistance, but it takes a bit of elbow grease to assemble, and strength to stand the shelves up once they're assembled.

Cheap appearance
The directions were not easy to follow - pictures only. The product was difficult to assemble, and we were disappointed with the quality of the shelves. They looked cheap, and the paper stickers to cover the screws would not fool anyone. We decided not to use these shelves in our home. The units would not fit into the spot we needed them for, and we didn't want to use them anywhere else.

i love that they are open in the back
the best features are the puzzle type shelving but putting it together was a puzzle according to my husband, the short shelves havent found a use yet i also like the contrast in shelves/sides the white/brown goes very nicely in my sophisticated tone of purple walls in the bedroom and the fact that they are backless makes it look less like a wall and more like decor. i can put a LOT of stuff on these shelves without it looking cluttered i think thats because of the neat style. they also move well-not overly heavy or bulky so they wouldnt be difficult to carry up and down stairs. the shine of the white isnt too bad. its really not all that noticeable. i wondered if it would look tacky or retro but its actually quite elegant. not hating them.

Worth the effort
This piece does take some effort to put together. I am not at all handy, and also totally weak, but I put it together myself in about 4 hours (including breaks). The instructions are all visual. It is important to pay attention to where the holes are in the pieces in the pictures. If you look at those closely, then putting this together will go smoothly. I also had an electric drill to put in the screw pieces, but some of it requires the Allan wrench, which is included. I'm glad I had the drill, but it would have been possible to do with just a screw driver. The trickiest part was fitting on the top and sides which requires lining up a lot of holes. The quality of this piece is very reliant on how well you put it together. If you do not carefully align and fit the pieces together, then it would probably not look so nice. Once it's together, it's a wonderfully unique-looking piece that makes my bedroom feel more complete. I really like that I can have it horizontally or vertically. I have mine horizontal.

Good looking shelf for the money.
Looked for a room divided and happened across this. Came in a few days. Kind of a bear to put together, but looks great. It's a little wobbly, but maybe some re-tightening might do the trick.

hollow walls, contrasting finishes
Not the worst instructions ever to come from a Chinese factory, but hardly the best. The diagrams could be larger & clearer--as it is, even if you read thru the entire instruction set beforehand, it's still easy to miss little details that lead you to attach parts backwards. This can be a fatal error in combination with the locking screws. The side walls of this bookcase are hollow except for narrow strips near some of the actual shelves. In my case, having bought this with the intention of attaching a flat-TV articulating/swivel arm mount to the side of the bookcase, executing that task was much more difficult. Also, be aware that the finish on the white parts (sides, top/bottom) is very different from the finish on the black parts (shelves). The white components are a very glossy plastic-y laminate; the black shelves are somewhere between matte and semigloss, with a (simulated?) wood grain texture. All in all, it serves the purpose for which I bought it, and I'm satisfied.

Nice bookshelf
This was not too challenging to put together, but be prepared to share the job with a friend, as it can put stress on the wrists. I wasn't very impressed by the stickers that hide the screwholes, but you get what you pay for. We use it turned sideways and it is a great addition to the room. Stores a lot of items, especially works well with boxes of different sizes.
