I was looking for a rod to use across my entire dining room wall to hide my french doors and add some extra elegant drama for evening dining. This rod was extremely easy to hang and if you expose the ends, gives a touch of industrial or 'restoration' to the room. It would have easily cost me triple the costs in one of those bath or home stores. This is not a cheap rod, it is very well constructed, and sturdy. Best to predrill holes and use the anchors to insure the hangers are in the wall tight, especially given the size of this rod. I have 4 large 95" chocolate blackout panels with grommet tops hanging from the rod and it looks like I had a designer put it together! With free shipping as a club O member, and the 5% back, this was a complete no brainer!

Loved the casual look of these rods. I ordered them because of the way they wrap back allowing the curtains to help keep out the cold outside air. As another reviewer stated, one does have to take the whole rod down to change the curtains, so if you change your look a lot, you may not wish to have these rods. Otherwise, a great buy!

Was glad to find such a long curtain rod---had thought we would have to have two separate rods to go across our long window (144"). The corner at the ends is a great idea. It blocks drafts and hides the screws/brackets. If you have to extend the rod past 120" it will be somewhat saggy or wiggly, especially if you want to hang heavy curtains. The rod is nice and strong, but that is just a long distance to span.

Please tell us about the quality of the product. Decent quality, good design.
How accurate was the on site description of the product? Accurate - but be careful past 120".
I gave up looking for extra long rods when I stumbled on this one while looking for curtains. It was exactly what I had in mind for my floor to ceiling, wall to wall grommet curtains. Everything was included, although the plastic wall anchors were somewhat flimsy (easy to replace at the hardware store). Two of them distorted when I was inserting them in the drilled holes. The rod itself was the perfect diameter for large grommet curtains and easy to hang. I am going to order more of these since I like the wrap around feature (which I had given up trying to find in this length). It seems so unusual to find exactly what I need/want and I often have to make do with something else or devise my own, so I'm elated that these were available.

The rods are exactly, or better that what I expected. This is actually my second purchase of these rods. I bought the first set for my daughter's new house and liked them so much I bought 3 more sets for myself. The are very sturdy and super simple to hang. The simple design of them does not overwhelm simple drapes or curtains.
Even with drapes that don't have thermal backing they help keep the cold out by keeping the drape close to the wall at the sides. Next time I need curtain rods I would buy more of these, and I already have them in 3 big windows of my house!
We bought several of these curtain rods for around our home. We wanted curtain rods that could allow for curtains to curve around the sides of our windows and not leave that awkward couple-inch-gap between the window/wall and the curtain panel. The rods are sturdy and have support braces to be placed along the span (if it is a longer curtain rod). My only complaint is that the finish is a little cheap looking. We ordered the bronze color and is really just painted brown with some goldish antiquing paint streaks. It isn't bad when it is actually hung above the window, but I expected better. My biggest recommendation for any curtain rods is to secure those things to the wall using screws into wooden studs or metal drywall backers. Simply using the plastic dryall backers that are provided just do not cut it. They inevitably sag and fall out over time. Believe me, it is worth it to take the time the first time and secure them to the wall.
I got this in the brown color and only wish they still had it because I also wanted to buy it for my parents' house. That should be endorsement enough that I'm satisfied with it.
It has a solid feel to it, and I like the fact it doesn't have any flourishes on the ends. It goes with the clean, modern feel I was trying to achieve in my bedroom. I believe I'm using it at around 108" to cover two windows, and hung it near the ceiling for longer curtains.
Anchors came with this, but I used ones I already had to install into my drywall.

How many inches in length does each of the 2 turned ends measure if separated (not attached to the Add-A-Rod straight middle length of this curtain rod assembly? The reason for my question: I purchased the Bay Front Window Adjustable Rod and find that the 2 turned ends of the Bay Window rod are not long enough when fully extended to reach to point beyond window frame where curtain panels should begin (this measurement is ~46", but turned ends when fully extended only measure ~42-43".caseyndc on Jan 5, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question

Thank you dan448 for your interest in the Barricade 96 to 144-inch Adjustable Energy Efficient Window Curtain Rod. I would not recommend using this on a pergola. Thank you for shopping with us!

Thanks for your interest, yes they will as long as the rod pocket is at least 1 inch in diameter. overstockcustomercare1 on Mar 4, 2013
It would if the pocket is at least 3 inches. I would not recommend a pocketed curtain on this rod if you are planning on openning and closing them regularly. I don't think it would move smoothly over the rod.bourne2626 on Mar 14, 2013

I want to hang a grommet black-out drape over a 108" sliding glass door. Figuring 2 - 4 " for mounting on each side of the patio door, if I don't have the center support bracket, will it sag in the middle?waldokitty on Nov 19, 2012Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Thank you for your interest. Yes, the rod will sag in the middle without the center bracket. Please feel free to contact us again with any further questions.overstockcustomercare1 on Nov 20, 2012
I have not hung my rod yet but assume that it will sag due to the weight of the drapes over that span. The biggest problem with the rod is that grommet curtains tend to be wider, thus the curtain lays more on its side than straight folds.kjcrowe on Mar 28, 2013
Unfortunately, the Barricade rods are not ceiling-mountable. Brackets can be mounted to the wall only.overstockcustomercare1 on Oct 29, 2012
My curtains are pocket rod, I bought them at Overstock as well (Signature Warm Black Velvet 120-inch Blackout Curtain Panel), will they fit this rod?

It is advertised as adjustable. How is the extension set up and where does the break occur on the rod? Do you sell rings to match? How much weight can the rod handle without bending at the full extension? on Aug 6, 2012Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Ends are elbows and then there is a rod that slips over both elbows so there is a break on both sides. I have lined grommetted curtains on my rod and it is not sagging.bourne2626 on Mar 14, 2013
