I like the looks of this bookcase, but it arrived with defects which made it nearly impossible to assemble. The poles were bent, and there is minimal tolerance in the glass and wood blocks to let them slide through. One of the wooden blocks had a manufacturing defect which left the holes blocked and had to be drilled out. It was extremely frustrating, but once we got it together it looks great in my contemporary room.
We got this bookshelf because it had a very open design and could serve as a room divider but ended up putting it against the wall. It is huge. It is VERY, VERY heavy. Two men are needed to move it. But it is quite a striking piece of furniture and looks very sophisticated and expensive..oh wait, it is expensive. But at least it follows through. We are newlyweds and got this as one of our first "grown up" furniture investments--it's definitely not just a temporary bookshelf. We are storing all of our glasses, dishware, and fancy serving bowls and it makes our joined kitchen/dining area feeling like it is actually a dining room as well as a kitchen. A very nice piece. But not for a single person unless you have help to set it up and move it. The guys who delivered it were super nice and helpful by the way.
hard to assemble, very large pieces of glass. Overall, a great buy and would recommend it to everyone.
