I was hesitant to purchase this dresser after reading how difficult others found it to assemble. I am so glad I went ahead and ordered it! Yes, the dresser is a bit difficult to assemble. However, my husband is good at following those cryptic instructions so it really only took us a couple of hours. The pieces were all intact and in good shape, and once assembled the dresser is very heavy and sturdy...VERY heavy. I did not realize that the handles would be rounded (they looked squared off in the picture), so that was the only unexpected discovery. This is the perfect piece of furniture for our guest room.

This dresser looks very nice after you assemble it...but it took me a while to finish this...for the price its not worth spending hours and hours assembling this item...also this item is very very heavy.

This dresser is attractive with its minimal design, solid feel and clean finish. It is very dark in color, I was hoping the espresso would have more dark browns in it but this piece is almost totally black. I have this piece on my side of our walk-in closet so the style of the unit was secondary to size and build quality (although it does look very nice). The directions are about what you would expect and what others have mentioned... tedious but manageable with some careful reading. I built this myself using an 18-volt power drill, screwdriver and a rubber mallet. It took about 2 hours from unpacking to putting clothes in it. If you're not 6'4"/200lbs then you might want to grab a friend to help out since this thing weighs a lot for one person to handle. When I assemble "DIY" furniture I always use wood glue (about $4 at any hardware store) on the dowels to give it extra strength (beware!!!! in doing this there is very little room for error... once glued it is almost impossible to be taken apart even if only several minutes after you glue it). I also added some thin weather stripping foam (again, $4 at a hardware store) to the body of the unit so when the drawers close they don't slam or make noise. When my wife walked in the closet she was very impressed and now wants one of her own! I will be purchasing the matching Axium 4 drawer chest for her side of the closet. Shipping was prompt and the three boxes arrived in good condition with ample packing materials used to protect the contents. Another good find on overstock.com.

I was surprised by the amount of assembly, but was able to do it in about three hours. The instructions were not the clearest, but slowing down and trying to insure proper assembly made the process easier. If you are in a rush to assemble the instructions will be frustrating to read. It has a great dark look that goes with most modern decor. I ended up adding some small round felt pads on the corners of the drawers to prevent slamming, because the rollers it has are quite smooth and if you are not careful you will slam them shut. The only complaint I have is that when we put some clothes in the drawers, the ones on the bottom got stained with some oil like substance from the particle board bottoms. Easy fix, was to put a cloth and then a plastic divider between the clothes and the bottom of the drawer. I love the look of the dresser.

This dresser looks amazing! We are so happy with it. It took my husband about 1.5 - 2 hours to completely assemble the dresser, and it looks wonderful. Note: This dresser is VERY heavy, so when moving, make sure to have a couple of strong men.We also purchased the matching nightstands and bed. The nightstands were also simple to assemble and look great. As for the bed, the bed took us around 5 hours to assemble and was poorly constructed (too much work with an allen wrench that was time consuming and tedious). But the end result is amazing. The set is very contemporary/modern and the almost black finish (looks black from a far but as you get closer you can see that it is more espresso - DARK brown) is beautiful. We are very pleased with all four pieces.

I had the nightstand to this set for a few years and decided that I liked it so much I wanted to buy the dressers. This is the first dresser that I bought. It came in 3 large boxes and it took a good amount of time to put together - you have to have patience. I did it by myself (I even just had knee surgery a few weeks ago and am limited on what I do) so it took me a little longer than others say, but I finished it in probably 4 hours. I did have to have my roomate at the end help me turn it right side up. The final product looks exactly as I expected, however, I only gave it 4 stars because the top of the dresser has cracked where the scews went in. I'm going to call overstock and see if they can send me a different top. I don't know if the screw holes were wrong or what happened, but there are now 4 small cracks that I'm afraid will get bigger. Something can easily be put over them to cover them, but it would be nice if they weren't there!

At first, I loved this dresser! I had purchased a similar bedframe that was much more expesive from a different company and was looking to complete the set without spending a lot. I bought the entire set : both dressers and two night stands. I put it together myself and it was a LONG process, but do-able. The drawers are tricky to set. It looked great for about two months, then the top of each piece began splitting exactly at the point of connection to the side panel. I am talking huge splits that actually made a sound when they occured! I will have to try to repair with wood putty and restain. I love the look, but would not purchase any item in the set again.

I recently redecorated my room, and was searching for the perfect dresser. I found this Axium Espresso, and when it arrived and I assembled it it was absolutely perfect for my room! The only cons: one (accidental) scratch from a co-assembler; and one of the drawers catches. Other than that, the dresser and two Axium Espresso nightstands I ordered look really great in my room. Thanks Overstock!

As I usually do, I read as many of these ratings and what other customers comment on the products I purchase to give me some sort of awareness of what might be in store for me to assemble and see when the product is completed. I've been an active shopper with "Overstock" for a few years and just recently joined as a Club "O" Member to save additional dollars on items purchased and shipping. So far to date and even when I've read in some reviews that the assebly process was difficult or that some parts are missing, I have not had the unfortunate of those happening to me. This product was put together with my nephew and myself in about 1 1/2 hours with really no difficulty at all. We both are mechanically inclined and even though some instructions aren't as clear at times, if you look at the overall scheme of things being put together, you can get a good feel for how they work and should fit. Best things to do it not rush and be careful in applying what is instructed at all times and the end results should be fine. To date, I'm very happy with this purchase and the cost. I wasn't and still not sure what Rubber Wood is, but its finish looks great!!! Good Luck to all who venture into this same dresser.

I love this dresser and the accompanying end tables and I am about to purchase the armoire. It has clean lines and a modern look something that I was having difficulty finding in retail stores. The color was exactly what I was looking for and the construction is very good. Assembly is not too difficult. If you bought furniture from the Swedish store it is pretty similar in assembly instruction but I felt much better in quality. I am very happy with the purchase.

This dresser is very good looking and sturdy and a very good value. The only negative is that it comes in many, many pieces and takes a long time to assemble. I'm sure my husband and I would have gotten divorced after trying to put it together so I hired a handyman to assemble it which drove the price up. I would still do it again though as I am very happy with the finished product.

I have not seen a piece of furniture like this at a furniture store in the Chicagoland area anywhere near this price. It is nice, solid, and heavy. It looks great. Nice dark brown/near black color, verry little visible woodgrain. Check the dimensions in your room, due to the dark color of the wood and the size, it makes our room look a little smaller than our previous light-colored wood dressers. Luckily we have the room to spare. I am also happy with the matching side tables. I just wish there was a matching king bed or desk. I originally thought the top of the dresser was one piece, but I can live with it. Some of the dresser internal pieces must have been packed while still a little wet, becuase I had to tear apart the drawer bottoms, peeling the varnish - it will not be regularly visible. Pre-read the instructions, there is a part on the back/buttom of the dresser top which if done in the suggested order, will be hard to access with any power or hand tool to tighten. It took about 2.5 hrs to assemble by myself.

I purchased both the Axium 6-drawer and the 4-drawer dressers for my bedroom. They matched my expresso stained color bed and nightstands beautifully, almost as if they were purchased from the same showroom as my existing pieces. Had they being purchased at same showroom as my bed and nightstands, I would have ended up paying double the price for the dressers. Beside looking beautiful, these dressers are solidly made, very sturdy and heavy. But, I will have to warn you. The assembly process was a pain and will require lots of patience. It took my husband and me almost 8 hours to put together the 2 dressers, only because there were so many little piecese and screws to deal with. Overall, a great value for these dressers.

The dresser came out looking exactly how it looks online. There are ALOT of parts and it will behoove you greatly to have a drill when putting this dresser together. It took my boyfriend and I about 2-3 hours to complete the dresser.

After reading the reviews I took a chance and bought this. I wasn't disappointed at all. I'm very handy and have assembled alot of my furniture thus far. I did this alone but would recommend help for joining the 2nd half to the first half. This dresser is very heavy solid wood, so putting it upright was doable but challenging. Oh, and you will need that rubber mallet. I didn't glue the dowels (and actually would caution against it) unless you don't plan on moving it. All in all, it took me about 5 hours over 3 days. You do have to pay attention to detail. If you take the time in the beginning, you can sail through most of the assembly. I also bought, assembled and reviewed the 1 drawer nightstand. I did this one first so the nightstand was easy. I will do the bed next week...

I bought both dressers and 2 nightstands. Put them together myself. A little time consuming but well worth it. Great looking pieces of furniture. Very fast shipment.

This dresser was a great addition to my NYC apartment. While to many people's standards, it may be a little large at 63inches long...it was PERFECT for my space compared to the standard 70inch PLUS dressers. The furniture looks even better in person than it did online. The color is a VERY dark chocolate, practically black, but worked well w/some of my other furniture which is also called "espresso". In turn, for those looking for a piece that will compliment other furniture it works well with both dark brown and black. As for assembly, it was a bit daunting at first. The piece came in 3 LARGE boxes weighing over 60 lbs each. Once unpacking all of the pieces, organizing them into piles and ensuring we had all the proper tools my boyfriend and I were on our way to building the dresser. For the most part, it can be built by one person, but took him about 4hrs to put together. I would HIGHLY recommend having an electric drill because my hands got tired after 30 minutes of putting in screws for the drawers. While putting the dresser together was a long and laborious task, the directions were easy to follow and the end result was FANTASTIC.

I love this dresser. like all the reviews, it was quite time consuming assembling it. It took me about 4 hours. Be sure you read the directions VERY carefully, especially when mounting the drawer slides. You can easily get them upside down. Also, make sure you tighten each screw and bolt. I went slow to be sure every part went together and it is a very sturdy peice of furniture. I love it. Shipping was fast too. :)

I ordered the entire set and was able to easily assemble by myself. The only issue arrises with the drawers not wanting to stay on track.

I was searching all over for my "perfect" dresser and this is it! It's a great solid piece and looks fantastic. It was exactly what I was expecting based on photos and other customer reviews. It looks great and the drawers are spacious - I can go buy more jeans now! In a rush to get it together I assembled it myself, it wasn't impossible, but one step would have been easier with another person. Also, in my haste I stuggled with one step, only because I didn't fully read the instructions. So as long as you have the proper tools (rubber mallet - A MUST) and read each step carefully you should be able to assemble this in just a few hours.
