This rug is beautiful. I was nervous about ordering b/c there were no reviews yet, but the picture looked great and I went ahead with it. The colors are beautiful because there is some shading of the background where areas are lighter and darker. Looks great on a dark wood floor because it blends nicely without looking too busy. You only need a rug pad if it's not under the bed to keep it from moving around, but otherwise, the backing is a soft felt so it shouldn't scratch the floor.
