This is an extremely sturdy filer that also has much more style than those metal office cabinets, which makes it perfect for the home. The surface on top is perfect for my large multifunction printer. Only gripe us that the lock is only for the top drawer. Other than that, it's great!

I recieved the product and its exactly what I wanted except for the fact that the top of it was cracked down the midde. It was such a large item I didn't want to go throught the trouble of sending it back so I put something on top to hide it.

I'm always worried when I order something that it will be flimsy or poorly constructed. It was not! It looks great and really is a solid, handsome piece of furniture that is very functional.

I love this piece! The only two issues I have I'd already read about: the instructions are a little unclear mostly because there are a lot of screws, nails, and that kind of thing. But ultimately, it was easy to put together. It's also deeper and a bit wider than the picture seems but it stores SO much and it's really sleek. LOVE THIS THING!

I love the look and size of this file, but the assembly was ridiculous. It took almost 2 hours! The directions were not very helpful or clear. There were many parts and we just had to figure it out on our own. It is very heavy. You may want to opt for something that is easier to assemble.

This lateral file is okay - it is an inexpensive piece therefore not solid, but its not flimsy either. You do need a phd in carpentry to put the thing together. One drill hole was 1/8 of an inch off and the drawer would not close - I did have access to a carpenter who figured this out. I never would have thought to measure the drill holes! The directions are seriously lacking for more than half of the steps (which way to insert...), they just need a few more words. Two pieces of the puzzle did not work, I called the 800 number and they were replaced without question. Overall, for the money its fine.

This file cabinet took about two hours to assemble, but it wasn't very complicated. We thought we had an issue with the drawers not lining up properly with the tracks inside the cabinet, but we ultimately figured out what we were doing wrong. Overstock customer service was very helpful. FYI, one of the drawers had a few very minor dings in the finish, but for $****, we are keeping it. It is sturdy and looks great overall. Also, it's a good idea to check the measurements before ordering as the peice is a little bigger than what I was expecting based on the picture (The measurements are correct - I just didn't bother to consider them and thought it seemed smaller when I saw it on-line). Overall a GREAT value. I am confident this file cabinet will last a long time and serve us well. It is much prettier than those ugly metal file cabinets!

I was about to purchase another industrial-looking metal filing cabinet, so I was thrilled to come across this item, which has a stylish contemporary look, more appropriate for the home. It has a beautiful light cherry finish, which works well in my basement office with limited natural lighting. Take note of the following: (1) Yes the top surface is solid black (2) The 4 metal file supports (2 per drawer) are shorter than the deepth of the drawers, so you're left with a gap about 3-inches between the front panel of the drawer and where your files begin. I was baffled by this at first, but then convinced myself that it prevents you from over-stuffing your drawer (it's a feature, not a fault :-) When the item arrived, I saw on the packaging that the producer is a Canadian company called South Shore Furniture - I looked at their website and ended up ordering 2 matching bookcases. One piece arrived damaged, I contacted them and they sent a replacement right away free of charge. Overall I'm very satisfied with the product and the customer service experience.
