  Over the years I have had several houses with wooden attic stairway. Invariably they were rickety and never really were of the quality needed to inspire confidence carrying items to the attic. This model and brand is far superior to the contractor type stairways sold at big box stores and lumber companies. I found this one on sale and it was the same price as the cheaper wooden models. The adjustable bottom leg length was perfect for my 10' ceiling. I would highly recommend this brand and model based on my experience with this one. The quality of the stairway leads me to believe it will last for years!

  I researched this units and similar ones and decided to go with the Century model as its advertised as "Made in USA". I received the unit with the packaging in very good condition. However, I was very disappointed when I inspected the unit. The unit is basically comprised of two separate assemblies; the wooden mount and the metal folding stair mechanism. The metal stair mechanism appears to be of good quality and functions well. The quality issues I've observed have all been with the wooden mount assemble. It is poorly designed and constructed. The assembled side pieces did not align properly and had to be modified so that the finish trim would mount properly. The plywood bottom panel was a thin cheap piece of luan plywood that was damaged in several places and is not easily replaced.   Not excited about the quality of the steps. The aluminum is very flimsy. The door was not installed square on the steps so when you pull it closed its crooked in the opening. I will have to try and hide that as much as possible when installing the molding around the opening.

  We love our stair that actually open into the room, and looks great! It's safe, and offers large opening to get all of your storage items safely into the attic.

  I was shopping for a replacement folding attic stairs and I wanted a heavy duty one to install. Century is great in the product design. The instructions were easy to follow. This was a breeze to install. Good Job!!
